Negotiating IP

The collaboration between Extra Mile and TV Asahi Group will provide support to web3 game developers through various stages of development, including incubation, publishing, community marketing, and token support. TV Asahi Group has extended invitations to other industry stakeholders such as investors, IP holders, and blockchain service providers to join the initiative.

A key focus of the program is simplifying the negotiation of intellectual property (IP) rights, which can often be a challenge for game developers. TV Asahi Group aims to facilitate this process and enhance post-launch support for incubated projects to maximize their potential across different markets.

“Negotiating IP rights is one of the greatest barriers games developers face due to the cost and complexity of a domain that lies outside their specialty. TV Asahi wants to make that task easier, also adding that the post-launch support will increase the chances of success for incubated projects. “This will maximize the prospects of the game attracting audiences across key target markets and regions, including traditional gamers and web3 users.”

NFT Gaming

The program will offer support to selected NFT gaming projects from ideation and research to alpha and beta releases, including assistance in designing gaming tokens and integrating Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). Neobred, an NFT horse racing and breeding game, is set to be the first project launched through TV Asahi Group's blockchain gaming incubator.

Hiroshi Shinozuka, Representative Director and President of TV Asahi Co. Ltd, expressed excitement about the company's ventures in the web3 sector, emphasizing their commitment to innovation and collaboration.

“We established the Internet of Television Center in 2018, and have been conducting short videos, original drawings, NFT auctions of popular manga artists, etc., starting with the sale of collectible NFTs in December 2021. We will continue to promote further trials of the web3 business and co-creation with engineers and creators.”

Final Thoughts

With the launch of their blockchain games accelerator program, Extra Mile and TV Asahi Group aim to support developers and drive innovation in the evolving landscape of web3 gaming. As they continue to unveil new initiatives and projects, their partnership signifies progress in the convergence of blockchain technology and interactive entertainment.

The announcement precedes TV Asahi Group's participation as a partner in the upcoming TEAMZ Web3 / AI Summit 2024, where further details about their blockchain gaming venture will be revealed.
