If you've been frustrated trying to get more than 3 friends into a race in STAR WARS: Galactic Racer, that problem has an expiration date. Developer Fuse Games has confirmed a patch is in the works that will double the game's multiplayer party limit from 3 players to 6.

A 3-player cap that didn't sit well with fans

Star Wars: Galactic Racer launched just days ago, and the reception has been strong. The game's single-player campaign is inventive, the racing itself is high-octane, and it's even available to Amazon Prime subscribers through Luna at no extra cost. But one limitation stood out immediately: multiplayer parties capped at 3 players.

For a game built around chaotic, arcade-style racing, a 3-player ceiling felt tight. Players took to social media to flag it, and Fuse Games responded directly on X.

"Thank you so much for your feedback and we'd like to let you and everyone on this thread know that we hear you!" the official STAR WARS: Galactic Racer account wrote. "We're working on an update to increase the party size from 3 to 6 players, with the aim of releasing it within the first few weeks of launch. More details coming soon!"

What the patch actually changes

The headline number is straightforward: party size goes from 3 to 6. That's a meaningful shift. Racing games live and die by their social experience, and doubling the player count in a single lobby opens the game up considerably for friend groups, content creators, and anyone who's had to tell two people to sit this one out.

The private race feature is a separate issue that remains unresolved for now, but the party size fix addresses the most immediate complaint from the community.

Where the game stands right now

Galactic Racer has landed well despite the multiplayer friction. The game has drawn comparisons to classic arcade racers, with the campaign in particular earning praise for its creativity. The core racing is fast, the tracks are distinct, and the progression systems give players plenty to chase between races.

For players still getting to grips with what's on offer, the STAR WARS: Galactic Racer guides collection covers everything from racer styles to Tours and Favors. If you're still building out your roster, the breakdown of all Racer Styles and how to unlock them is a solid place to start before the party size patch drops and you're suddenly coordinating 6-player lobbies.

The patch timeline is vague for now, but "first few weeks of launch" puts it squarely on the near-term roadmap. When Fuse Games shares more details, expect a proper update with specifics.
