Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 26.35 million units worldwide as of September 30, 2026, Nintendo announced in its November 5 financial results. Hardware sales for the first half of its current fiscal year fell 37.4% compared with the same period a year earlier.
Nintendo sold 6.49 million Switch 2 systems during that six-month period, down from 10.36 million a year earlier. Software moved in the opposite direction, with sales increasing across both Switch generations.

Software grows as hardware sales slow
Nintendo’s results separate the fiscal first half from the latest quarter. For the three months ended September 30, 2026, the company recorded the following hardware and software sales:
| Platform | Quarterly hardware sales | Quarterly software sales |
|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch 2 | 2.67 million | 15.04 million |
| Nintendo Switch | 0.61 million | 31.92 million |
Across the fiscal first half, Switch 2 software sales reached 24.49 million, an increase of 18.8% year on year. Original Switch software sales reached 65.72 million over the same period, up 6.8%.
The older console therefore continued to sell more games in both reporting periods, even as Switch 2 accounted for more hardware sales in the latest quarter.
Mario Kart World leads Switch 2 game sales
Mario Kart World tops Nintendo’s updated first-party Switch 2 sales list, followed by Donkey Kong Bananza. Pokemon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and Pokemon Pokopia share the same reported sales total.
| Switch 2 title | Cumulative sales |
|---|---|
| Mario Kart World | 16.48 million |
| Donkey Kong Bananza | 5.05 million |
| Pokemon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | 4.04 million |
| Pokemon Pokopia | 4.04 million |
| Splatoon Raiders | 2.42 million |
| Kirby Air Riders | 1.94 million |
| Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave | 1.34 million |
| Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | 1.28 million |
| Star Fox | 1.17 million |
Splatoon Raiders, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and Star Fox are new additions to Nintendo’s published sales figures. Each has passed one million units.
Lifetime Switch 2 software sales have now exceeded 73.21 million units worldwide. These cumulative game totals cover the platform’s lifetime, unlike the quarterly and first-half figures above.
Original Switch continues to sell games
Its cumulative software sales have passed 1,593.87 million, with Nintendo also publishing updated figures for games outside its best-selling titles list.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on Switch reached 8.83 million sales, while Rhythm Heaven Groove reached 2.89 million. Both contributed to the older platform’s first-half software growth.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the original Switch’s best-selling first-party game at 72.00 million units. Animal Crossing: New Horizons follows at 50.63 million, ahead of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at 34.28 million and Super Mario Odyssey at 31.06 million.
Nintendo left its Switch 2 hardware forecast unchanged. The company still expects to sell 16.5 million systems during the fiscal year ending March 2027.
