STRANGER THAN HEAVEN has revealed Tori Kelly’s performance of “Mr. Bee” in a new trailer. The musical preview arrives ahead of the game’s January 15, 2027, release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
The jazz number features big band instrumentals and takes place in Atami, Shizuoka, in 1951. Its postwar setting reflects a period when people and cultures from overseas were entering Japan and a new culture was taking shape.
The game’s core singers each have their own deeper stories. This trailer concentrates on the performance itself, giving a look at how elaborate the musical productions can become through stage decorations and effects.
Stranger Than Heaven is an action-adventure RPG developed by RGG Studio, the team behind Yakuza and Like a Dragon, and published by SEGA.
Daito’s work behind the performance
Makoto Daito’s showman career puts him in charge of several elements surrounding a singer’s performance. Players have a hand in the production, making decisions about what accompanies the vocals and what appears onstage:
- Instrumentals: Daito is responsible for the musical backing that supports the singer.
- Decorations: The stage dressing forms another part of the production he puts together.
- Confetti: The effects surrounding the performance also fall under his control.
The available budget limits those choices, and the production has a significant effect on how a show is received. The production choices extend beyond the setup’s appearance: the sound, staging, and effects must fit what Daito can afford.
