Yes, I'll definitely be playing the WoW Forever stress test. A "WoW Forever - Stress Test" version has turned up in the Battle.net app, marked as available on October 19, and it's the last chance to play before the game's November 4 launch. WoW Forever is the reason I'm taking my laptop with me when I'm away from home this month, so I'm not missing it.
It also cleared something up for me. I didn't realise the beta finishes before launch. I thought I'd be able to keep playing the beta right up until the 4th, so a stress test in that gap is news I'm very glad about.
When Is the WoW Forever Stress Test?
October 19, going by the Battle.net app. MrGM spotted the new install on October 13, and Warcraft Tavern reports that the stress test option is marked as becoming available on October 19 and has appeared even for accounts that don't currently have beta access.

When Does the WoW Forever Beta End?
October 21, 2026. Per ForeverChanges' beta timeline, October 21 is the last full day of testing, name reservations open on October 27, and the full game launches on November 4.
That leaves a gap of about two weeks with no beta at all , which is the part I'd got wrong. The stress test on the 19th lands just before the beta closes, and since October 19 is a Monday, it falls in the beta's last three days rather than over a weekend.
Will the Stress Test Install Become the Live Game?
Possibly. MrGM's read is that the new install is likely to be used for the live game once name reservations begin on October 27. Blizzard hasn't confirmed that, so for now it's MrGM's reading of the new install rather than an official announcement.
Am I Worried About Name Reservations?
No. Name competition doesn't worry me at all , I very much doubt anyone is going to be after my name.
I play Maple, an Undead Protection Paladin. Name reservations open on October 27, per ForeverChanges' timeline, so that's the date to have in your calendar if there's a name you really care about.
What Should the Stress Test Fix Before Launch?
The towns. Personally, I don't want the stress test to prove anything , I just want to keep playing the game. Ideally they wouldn't need one and I'd get to play on a nice, smooth launch, but that's going to be too much to ask without testing it first.
So my main concern is the towns, because they've already been running kind of badly. If they can stress test the towns and make them better, that'd be good. That's what a stress test is for: as Warcraft Tavern puts it, it usually means letting a large number of players into a beta to push the servers to their limits , and towns are where everyone ends up at the same time.
Players on the official forums are already worried about launch night too. One thread asks whether people will be getting into Azeroth or battling the queue, and warns that the beta showed what happens when everyone logs in at once , so launch should be expected to bring many times that demand.
What Can You Play in the Stress Test?
Blizzard hasn't said yet. The beta itself has been capped at level 30 since October 1, per ForeverChanges, after starting with a level 20 cap. Blizzard hasn't said whether the stress test uses the same cap.
I'll be playing it either way. If you're still deciding on a class before launch, I've written about how I picked mine in which class you should play in WoW Forever, and about the new levelling features you'll run into early.
