The Forsaken Monolith is one of the more rewarding exploration tasks in Once Human's Red Sands region, but its vertical layout trips up a lot of players. The Weapon Crate in particular sits behind an elevator that most people walk straight past. This guide covers every coordinate, every crate location, and exactly what you'll earn for completing the task.
What is the Forsaken Monolith exploration task?
The Forsaken Monolith Exploration Task starts automatically when you walk into the Forsaken Monolith location in Red Sands. You'll see three objectives appear:
- Look for the Mystical Crate (0/1)
- Find Weapon and Armor Crates (0/1)
- Activate the Rift Anchor (0/1)
Each objective has its own reward pool, so you want to complete all three before you leave.
Where is each objective located?
Rift Anchor location
The Rift Anchor is at coordinates 2024, -1501. This is the easiest objective to find since the main path through the Monolith leads you close to it. Activating it gives you three items: a Platinum Crystal, a Stardust Source, and a Stellar Planula.
Where is the Mystical Crate?
The Mystical Crate is at 2005, -1526, right near the Rift Anchor. Opening it gives you x15 Earthy Boots Fragments, which makes it worth grabbing every time you're in the area.
Where are the Gear and Weapon Crates?
This is where players get stuck. The Monolith contains three crates, but you only need to loot one to finish the objective. Here's the breakdown:
The two Gear Crates are faster to reach if you just want to clear the objective. The Weapon Crate requires the elevator detour but can drop weapons and tactical items that Gear Crates won't.

What do the crates actually drop?
The loot from each crate type is randomized. Here's what each can contain:
Gear Crates can drop:
- Energy Links
- Staroid
- Random Deviation
- Random Gear
- Random Gear Mods
- Armor Mod Parts
Weapon Crates can drop:
- Energy Links
- Staroid
- Random Deviation
- Random Weapons
- Random Gear/Weapon Mods
- Weapon Mod Parts
- Random Tactical Items
- Random Copper Ammo
What rewards do you get for completing the task?
Finishing all three objectives earns you:
- 150 Experience
- x248 Asterism
- x248 Battle Pass Exp
The Battle Pass Exp makes this task worth doing even if the crate RNG isn't in your favor on a given run. Stacking exploration tasks is one of the faster ways to progress the Battle Pass without grinding combat.
Tips for clearing Forsaken Monolith efficiently
- Start at the Rift Anchor (2024, -1501) and work outward from there.
- The Mystical Crate at 2005, -1526 is right nearby, so grab it immediately after the Anchor.
- Decide before you climb whether you want the Weapon Crate or a Gear Crate. The Weapon Crate requires navigating to the elevator at 2008, -1436 from the upper Monolith section, so plan your route accordingly.
- You only need one crate to complete the objective, but looting extras won't hurt if you have the time.
