Capture or defeat Lifmunk, Hangyu, or Herbil to get Wheat Seeds in Palworld. Each gives 1 seed at a 100% drop rate. You can also buy seeds for 20 Gold each at Small Settlement, or assign Vaelet to a Ranch for passive production.

Your first Wheat Plantation only needs 3 seeds, so start with nearby Lifmunk or a merchant purchase. This guide covers Palworld 1.0, with crop timing and yield for patch 1.0.5, and explains which older seed farms no longer work.

Quick answer

What's the quickest way to get your first Wheat Seeds?

Lifmunk is the best early hunting target, with wild levels starting at 1. Buying seeds is the simpler choice if you're already near Small Settlement and have Gold to spare. Vaelet suits players who want a reserve that grows while they do something else.

MethodWhat you receiveBest forMain requirement

Assign Vaelet to a Ranch1-2 Wheat Seeds on a 20% roll at rank 1Building a passive seed reserveOwn Vaelet and build a Ranch

Best for a fresh base: hunt Lifmunk until you have the seeds for your first plantation. The goal is to start growing Wheat, not spend the afternoon filling a chest with seeds you don't yet need.

Where can you buy Wheat Seeds?

Head to Small Settlement at (71, -486) and speak to its Wandering Merchant. Wheat Seeds cost 20 Gold each, making this a direct option when you want to build a plantation without hunting Pals.

The following Caravan merchants also stock Wheat Seeds:

  • Caravan Leader
  • Village Grocer
  • Farm Peddler
  • Legendary Grocer

Small Settlement is the straightforward destination to aim for. Merchant inventories differ, so finding another Wandering Merchant doesn't guarantee you'll find Wheat Seeds in their stock.

Which Pals drop Wheat Seeds in Palworld 1.0?

Four Pals drop Wheat Seeds in Palworld 1.0: Lifmunk, Hangyu, Herbil, and Souffline. All four have a 100% drop rate, but Souffline's higher yield comes with a much higher-level destination.

Find Lifmunk for early seeds

Lifmunk combines the lowest starting level with the most spawn points of these four Pals. Take seeds from Hangyu and Herbil when you encounter them, too. Souffline is worth collecting from while you're already exploring Sunreach, but it's a poor destination for your first plantation's seeds.

Can you get more seeds by butchering captured Pals?

The Meat Cleaver unlocks at Technology Tier 12 and lets you exchange a captured Pal for its drops. Lifmunk, Hangyu, and Herbil each yield 1 Wheat Seed when butchered; Souffline yields 1-2.

To use it:

  • Capture a Wheat Seed-dropping Pal and return to your base.
  • Equip the Meat Cleaver.
  • Select the Pet command, which changes to Butcher while the cleaver is equipped.

How do you build a Wheat Plantation?

Unlock Wheat Plantation in the Technology tab at level 15 for 2 Technology Points. You can then build it at your base using the materials below.

For automatic production, your base needs Pals covering Planting, Watering, and Gathering. Transporting handles moving the harvested Wheat into storage.

Lifmunk and Herbil both have Planting level 1, making them useful starting workers after you've collected your seeds. Vaelet has Planting level 3, although its seed-producing role requires assignment to a Ranch instead.

In patch 1.0.5, Wheat has a growth time of 4 minutes and 30 seconds and yields 10 Wheat per harvest. That's the crop's growth time, rather than a promise that the entire planting, watering, and harvesting process finishes in that window.

If you're choosing a permanent home for your Wheat Plantation and other production buildings, compare the best Palworld base locations before committing to an outpost.

How does Vaelet produce Wheat Seeds at a Ranch?

Vaelet produces seeds through its partner skill, Purification of Gaia, while assigned to a Ranch. This is the passive Wheat Seed option: you don't need to defeat more Pals or keep paying merchants.

The Ranch unlocks at level 5 for 2 Technology Points. Its construction cost is 30 Fiber, 30 Wood, and 20 Stone.

Where can you find Vaelet?

A level 27 Vaelet boss waits inside the Sealed Realm of the Guardian at (-19, -265). This gives you a specific target if you're ready to capture one for Ranch production.

How many Wheat Seeds does Vaelet produce?

Wheat Seeds have a 20% production roll. Increasing Vaelet's rank raises the possible quantity, while the chance remains 20% across ranks 1-5.

Vaelet can also produce Tomato, Potato, Carrot, Onion, and Lettuce Seeds. That makes it useful for expanding several crop types, rather than serving as a Wheat-only producer.

What should you do with harvested Wheat?

Process Wheat into Flour at a Mill. The Mill unlocks at Technology Level 15 and costs 50 Wood and 40 Stone to build. Its conversion rate is 3 Wheat for 1 Flour.

Open the Mill's crafting menu, choose the amount of Flour you want, and provide a Pal with Watering to operate it. You can't power the Mill yourself, so that Watering worker is part of the production chain.

Flour feeds several useful recipes:

  • Bread: requires 1 Flour.
  • Pizza: requires 1 Flour.
  • Cake: requires 5 Flour and is used at the Breeding Farm.

If Cake production is your goal, prioritize keeping the Wheat Plantation and Mill working. More seeds help you build additional plantations, but an established plantation already gives you repeat harvests.

How do you avoid wasting time farming Wheat Seeds?

Common mistakes

  • Hunting outdated targets. Dinossom, Bristla, Flopie, Robinquill, Robinquill Terra, and Cinnamoth no longer drop Wheat Seeds in Palworld 1.0. Target the four current droppers instead.
  • Repeating the old Ancient Ritual Site route. Bristla and Flopie around (-14, -293) now provide Tomato and Lettuce Seeds, respectively. That route no longer serves its old Wheat Seed purpose.
  • Trying to make Cattiva plant Wheat. Cattiva has no Planting work suitability. Check the worker's suitability before blaming the plantation.
  • Expecting a Ranch to harvest Wheat. Vaelet produces seeds at the Ranch. The Wheat Plantation produces the crop you send to the Mill.

Pro tips

  • Keep a useful Lifmunk for Planting. It can provide your initial seed drop and then help work the plantation, which is more useful for a new farm than butchering every capture.
  • Collect seeds along existing routes. Hangyu and Herbil give guaranteed drops, so take advantage of encounters during exploration instead of relying on one dedicated farming location.
  • Start growing as soon as the plantation is affordable. Once you have 3 seeds and the level 15 unlock, establishing production gives you repeat Wheat harvests without repeated seed purchases.

Wheat Seeds FAQ

Do you need Wheat Seeds for every harvest?

No. The Wheat Plantation uses 3 Wheat Seeds when you build it, then continues producing Wheat. Keep collecting seeds when you want to construct additional plantations.

Can you sell Wheat Seeds?

Yes. Wheat Seeds sell for 2 Gold each, compared with their 20 Gold purchase price. Keep enough for your planned plantations before selling extras, since buying them back costs considerably more.

Why do you need Wheat Seeds for breeding?

Wheat Seeds let you establish a Wheat Plantation, whose crop becomes Flour at the Mill. Standard Cake requires 5 Flour and goes into the Breeding Farm chest to support breeding.

Once your plantation and Mill are supplying Flour, use the best Palworld breeding combos guide to choose which Pal pairs to spend your Cake on.
