The endgame in Palworld has always been about pushing into high-level content, but version 1.0 raises the stakes with Ancient Technology recipes that demand a resource most players won't encounter until they're deep into boss territory. The Ancient Civilization Core is that resource, and nearly every top-tier Ancient Technology item requires it. Here's exactly where to get them and what you'll build.

Where do Ancient Civilization Cores come from?

There are three distinct farming methods, and they scale with how far into the game you've pushed. None of them are available early, so if you're still working through the mid-game, bookmark this and come back.

Raid bosses with a 100% drop rate

The most reliable source is defeating high-level dungeon raid bosses. Every one of the following bosses has a 100% drop rate on the Ancient Civilization Core:

  • Bellanoir
  • Bellanoir Libero
  • Blazamut Ryu
  • Hartalis

These aren't pushover encounters. You'll want a full set of late-game gear and well-leveled Pals before attempting any of them. After testing all four against different team compositions, Bellanoir tends to be the most accessible entry point, though Bellanoir Libero hits considerably harder. Check out the full guide to farming Bellanoir's Slab Fragments and summoning the raid if you haven't tackled that encounter yet.

Oil Rigs at level 55 or above

If you'd rather skip the dungeon grind, Oil Rigs at level 55 or higher are a solid alternative. Clearing one successfully rewards Greater Chests, which have a high chance of containing Ancient Civilization Cores. The Oil Rig approach works well if you're already farming those locations for other resources, since you're essentially doubling up on the reward pool.

Pal Expeditions

The third method is more passive. Once you've unlocked the Pal Expedition Station at level 22 through the Technology menu, you can send Pals out on specific expeditions that return Ancient Civilization Cores. The three expeditions to target are:

  • Frozen Cave of the Snow Mountain (Normal)
  • Dark Cave of Feybreak (Normal)
  • Ancient Feybreak Remains (Hard)

The Hard-tier expedition from Ancient Feybreak Remains will yield better results but requires Pals capable of handling the difficulty. This method runs in the background while you're doing other things, making it a good supplement to active farming rather than a replacement.

What can you craft with Ancient Civilization Cores?

Every item that uses this resource sits at the top end of Palworld's crafting tree. These aren't optional upgrades, they're the gear you'll need for the hardest content in the game.

  • Sniper Module II: A high-tier weapon upgrade for late-game combat.
  • Homing Module: Adds tracking capability to your arsenal.
  • Ultra Shield: One of the best defensive options available for endgame encounters.
  • Advanced Egg Incubators: Expand base production rates and breeding potential.

Beyond these specific items, nearly every Ancient Technology suit and weapon recipe calls for Ancient Civilization Cores. That makes consistent farming non-negotiable once you're pushing into the game's hardest content.

How do you build an efficient farming loop?

The most time-efficient approach combines all three methods. Run raid bosses on cooldown for guaranteed drops, hit Oil Rigs at level 55+ when you're in the area, and keep your Pal Expedition Station loaded with Pals assigned to the Frozen Cave of the Snow Mountain or Dark Cave of Feybreak routes. The Ancient Feybreak Remains Hard expedition is worth slotting in once your Pals are strong enough.

Prioritize crafting the Ultra Shield first. The survivability boost makes every subsequent raid and Oil Rig run more consistent, which compounds into faster farming across the board. From there, work toward the weapon modules based on your preferred combat style.
