Wumpo is one of the most underrated base Pals in Palworld. It looks like a walking snowdrift, but underneath that fluffy exterior sits the highest Transporting Work Suitability in the game at Level 6, a passive that boosts every other Pal's transport rating by +1, and a Partner Skill that increases your carry capacity while exploring. The catch? You need to be around Level 45 before you can use it as a mount, and it moves painfully slow without the right passive skills.
The most accessible wild Wumpo population lives in the Astral Mountains on Palpagos Islands. They roam solo or in small clusters around coordinates (-154, 574), where they appear at roughly Level 48 to 52. The area is cold and high-altitude, so bring appropriate gear before heading up.
Beyond the open world, Wumpo also appears as a Level 45 Alpha Pal inside the Astral Mountains Cavern, a dungeon that spawns randomly in that region. Watch for temporary portals while exploring the mountains; stepping through one takes you directly to the cavern. The Alpha version is a reliable target if you want a higher-level catch right away.

Wumpo also has spawn points in the Sakurajima region and inside the World Tree story area added in Palworld 1.0. If you're already deep into endgame content, those zones offer additional chances to catch one.
Breeding is often the smarter route since it lets you pass down passive skills directly to the offspring. There are 20 viable parent combinations that produce Wumpo. Here are the most practical ones to aim for:
| Parent 1 | Parent 2 | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Blazamut | Mozzarina | Wumpo |
| Vanwyrm | Menasting | Wumpo |
| Broncherry | Shadowbeak | Wumpo |
| Kitsun | Jetragon | Wumpo |
| Anubis | Quivern | Wumpo |
| Frostallion | Chillet | Wumpo |
| Elphidran | Ragnahawk | Wumpo |
| Celaray | Suzaku | Wumpo |
The Kitsun + Jetragon and Frostallion + Chillet pairings are particularly useful if you're trying to pass down specific passive skills from high-tier Pals, since those parents are strong carriers for the speed passives Wumpo needs.
Wumpo can also be hatched from a Large Frozen Egg if you find one in the world.
Having a Wumpo in your Palbox also opens up a few useful breeding outputs. Pairing Wumpo with Mammorest produces Mammorest Cryst, and pairing it with Pierdon produces Pierdon Cryst. Both are unique combinations, meaning no other parent pair can create those results.
Wumpo's base stats sit at HP 140, Attack 80, and Defense 100. At Level 80 with no Potential investment, those numbers scale to HP 6,500 and Attack 580. Max IV rolls push those to HP 8,180 and Attack 724. With full Soul bonuses, Condenser upgrades, and Trust Level 10, HP can reach 17,702 and Attack 1,884.
| Stat | Base | 0 IV (Lv 80) | Max IV (Lv 80) | Max All |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HP | 140 | 6,500 | 8,180 | 19,100 |
| Attack | 80 | 580 | 724 | 2,004 |
| Defense | 100 | 650 | 830 | 2,117 |
Wumpo's combat tier is ranked B overall and D for combat specifically, which is accurate. You're not using this Pal to fight. Its exclusive passive Heavyweight grants Defense +20% and immunity to knockback, which matters during base raids but doesn't change the fact that Wumpo's attack numbers are mediocre.

Drops from Wumpo:
The Ancient Relic drops make Wumpo worth farming even if you don't plan to keep one. The drop rates are generous across multiple relic types.
Guardian of the Snowy Mountain does two things depending on where Wumpo is. Out in the field as a party member, it increases your maximum carry capacity, which is genuinely useful during resource runs. At your base, it bumps the Transporting Work Suitability of every other Pal by +1. That buff does not stack if you have multiple Wumpos, so one is enough.
To ride Wumpo, you need the Wumpo Saddle, which unlocks in the Technology Tree at Level 45. Crafting it requires 20 Ice Organs, 30 Leather, 50 Fiber, 40 Paldium Fragments, and 10 Refined Ingots.
Mount movement stats for Wumpo: Walk 100, Run 365, Sprint 550. Those numbers are average for a ground mount at this tier, but the carry capacity bonus makes it worth taking on long farming trips even if faster mounts exist. Check our Palworld map and level zones guide to know exactly when you'll be in territory where Wumpo becomes useful.
Wumpo's work profile at a base covers four tasks: Handiwork Level 3, Lumbering Level 5, Cooling Level 5, and Transporting Level 6. That Transporting level is the highest available in the game, and the Partner Skill passively upgrades every other base Pal's transport rating on top of that.
The problem is movement speed. Wumpo carries up to 20 items per trip when items are already stacked, but its default transport speed is slow enough to become a bottleneck. The fix is stacking four speed-boosting passive skills to give it a combined +75% Movement Speed boost.

Wumpo transporting at max efficiency
| Passive Skill | Effect |
|---|---|
| Swift | Movement Speed +30% |
| Runner | Movement Speed +20% |
| Nimble | Movement Speed +10% |
| Legend | Movement Speed +15%, Attack +20%, Defense +20% |
Combined, these four skills push Wumpo's transport speed to a level where it can actually keep pace with a busy base. Legend is the hardest to obtain since it's a passive exclusive to certain Pals and must be passed down through breeding. The Kitsun + Jetragon breeding combo is one of the cleaner paths to getting a Wumpo with Legend already in its passive pool.
If raids are enabled, Wumpo's best combat moves are Iceberg (Power 120, 8s cooldown), Crystal Breath (Power 160, 8s cooldown), and Blizzard Spike (Power 450, 20s cooldown). All three are Ice-type and apply Freeze buildup. Snow Bowling is Wumpo's exclusive skill at Level 35 with Power 400, though the 20-second cooldown limits how often it fires.
Short answer: yes, slightly, as a general worker. Wumpo Botan has the same Transporting Level 6 but better overall work flexibility. That said, regular Wumpo's Partner Skill passive buff to all base Pals makes it worth running alongside other transporters rather than replacing them. For dedicated lumbering setups, Wumpo's Lumbering Level 5 also makes it a solid dual-purpose worker. See our guide on best base Pals for how Wumpo fits into a fully optimized base roster.
| Work Type | Level |
|---|---|
| Transporting | 6 |
| Lumbering | 5 |
| Cooling | 5 |
| Handiwork | 3 |
The Lumbering and Cooling at Level 5 mean Wumpo stays productive between transport runs. Place it near trees and a food storage cooler and it will cycle between all three tasks without sitting idle. Handiwork at Level 3 is usable but not a reason to assign it to a crafting-heavy base.
Wumpo's food consumption sits at 7 out of 10, which is on the higher end. Make sure your base food supply is well-stocked before adding one. For resource planning in 1.0's new regions, the Palworld 1.0 new Pal locations guide covers what's available across Sunreach Island, the World Tree, and Floating Islands if you're building out a new base in those zones.
