Palworld Anubis Guide: Location, Breeding Combos, and Best Uses

Palworld has no shortage of powerful Pals, but Anubis stands apart as arguably the strongest Ground-type in the entire Paldeck. Whether you want a high-level fighter that dodges attacks mid-battle or a base worker that mines and crafts at Level 4 Handiwork, Anubis does it all. The good news: you can get one without ever fighting the terrifying Level 47 Alpha version. Breeding is faster, safer, and lets you control the traits your Anubis inherits.

How do you breed Anubis in Palworld?

Breeding is the recommended path to getting Anubis, especially if you're not yet at the level required to survive the Alpha encounter. Before you can breed anything, you'll need a Breeding Pen and a Cake placed in the attached box. You'll also need an Egg Incubator, which requires you to be at least Level 7 and spend 2 Ancient Technology Points to unlock the recipe.

Building the Incubator takes:

  • x10 Paldium Fragment
  • x5 Cloth
  • x30 Stone
  • x2 Ancient Civilization Parts

Once your setup is ready, place one male and one female from a compatible breeding pair into the Pen with a Cake in the box. When they finish, a Huge Rocky Egg will appear. That's the egg type that produces Anubis. Take it to your Incubator, wait for it to hatch, and you'll have a Level 1 Anubis ready to train.

What are the best Anubis breeding combos?

There are many combinations that produce Anubis, but some parent Pals are much easier to find than others. Here are the most accessible options:

After testing multiple combinations, Nitewing and Rayhound is the most beginner-friendly. Nitewing spawns near the starting area, and Rayhound roams the northeastern desert region around Level 30. Get one male and one female, bring them to your Breeding Pen, and the Huge Rocky Egg will follow.

Where is Anubis in Palworld?

If you'd rather catch the Alpha directly for the EXP and materials, Alpha Anubis spawns in Twilight Dunes at coordinates (-134, -95). It stands at the base of a large statue of itself, which makes it easy to spot once you're in the area. This is also a known coal farming region, so you may stumble across it while gathering resources.

The Alpha is Level 47, which puts it firmly in endgame territory. Treat it as such. Don't attempt this fight unless your player level and active Pal team are at or above Level 47.

How do you capture Alpha Anubis?

Capturing the Alpha requires preparation across three areas: your Pal team, your weapons, and your capture tools.

Pal team: Anubis is a Ground-type, so Grass-type Pals deal bonus damage. Prioritize Grass-types that attack quickly rather than those with long wind-up animations, since Anubis moves fast and will punish slow attackers.

Weapons: Use ranged weapons throughout the fight. Staying mobile matters here, and melee puts you in range of Anubis's fastest attacks.

Capture tools: You need Legendary Spheres. Bring at least three. The recipe unlocks at Level 44 via the Technology Tree and requires a Sphere Assembly Line II plus:

  • x10 Paldium Fragment
  • x5 Pal Metal Ingot
  • x3 Carbon Fiber
  • x5 Cement

Once Anubis's health bar drops to its last 100 HP, recall your active Pal immediately. A Pal that lands the killing blow ends your capture attempt. Chip away with your ranged weapon from there and throw a Legendary Sphere when the moment is right. If the first throw fails, continue chipping and retry.

warning
Do not leave your Pal out when Anubis is near death. One stray attack from your Pal will kill it and you'll lose the capture entirely.

What makes Anubis worth getting?

Anubis earns its reputation on two fronts: combat and base utility.

In combat, its Partner Skill Guardian of the Desert applies Ground damage to your attacks, making it especially effective against Electric-type Pals. The dodge mechanic built into its kit also means Anubis survives longer in fights than most Pals at a comparable level.

At base, Anubis has some of the best work suitabilities available:

Level 4 Handiwork is rare and makes Anubis one of the fastest crafters in the game. Combined with Level 3 Mining, it can pull double duty: gathering ore and processing materials without needing a second dedicated Pal for either job. That efficiency is hard to replace.

tip
Anubis can also serve as one half of a breeding pair to produce other rare Pals, so keeping multiple copies is worth considering once you've secured your first one.

Other powerful Pals worth hunting

Once you have Anubis locked in, the next step is building out the rest of your team. If you're hunting other tough Alpha bosses, the Palworld guide to finding Alpha Astegon covers a Level 48 Dark/Dragon boss that lives underground in Mount Obsidian and requires specific routing to reach.
