The Plasma Rifle and Drone Launcher are the best general-purpose weapons in Palworld, while the Mechanical Bow leads for raw attack.

Choose your next weapon by the job it needs to do. Autonomous drones keep attacking while you fight, rifles provide consistent pressure, and bows reward accurate weak-point shots. Your Technology level also determines which upgrades you can craft now. The picks below cover the strongest late-game options, their unlock levels and crafting station, and a practical route through earlier weapons before you reach them.

Best weapons and where to craft them

All six featured late-game weapons craft at the Ancient Workbench. Unlock their base recipes through Technology at the levels listed below, then use matching schematics for higher-rarity versions.

WeaponBest reason to get itTechnology levelCommon attackLegendary attack
Drone LauncherAutonomous damage alongside your attacks77200240
Plasma RifleConsistent ranged pressure and chaining attacks781,8602,232
Mechanical BowHigh-attack, precision shots6720,00024,000
Beam LauncherHeavy area burst damage8014,00016,800
Tactical Grenade LauncherControlled, long-range explosive attacks726,7228,066
Laser SwordHighest attack among craftable melee weapons732,0002,400

These figures are attack values, not DPS. A charged bow shot and a drone's repeated attacks cannot be compared through their item stats alone. Firing speed, charging, and autonomous attacks all affect how much damage a weapon contributes during a fight.

Which late-game weapon should you choose?

Plasma Rifle and Drone Launcher for boss pressure

The Plasma Rifle is the safest first choice if you want a dependable weapon without building your whole party around precision shooting. Its impact releases an electrical discharge that chains between enemies, so it also handles groups. Bring Plasma Rifle Ammo to keep it supplied.

The Drone Launcher deploys up to 9 autonomous units. Its low attack entry hides its main advantage: the drones remain active and continue dealing damage while you fight. Deploy them, then attack with your main weapon instead of treating the launcher as a conventional single-shot explosive.

For a straightforward boss setup, use the drones alongside the rifle. If you're struggling with narrow weak-point hitboxes, this pairing demands less precision than relying entirely on charged bow shots.

Mechanical Bow for accurate weak-point shots

The Mechanical Bow is the strongest pick for raw attack, but accuracy decides whether it earns its place in your loadout. It has enhanced projectile velocity and piercing power, and a dedicated bow-support party can make it competitive with the most consistent late-game weapons.

Choose it when you can reliably hit weak points. Boss hitboxes can make shots inconsistent, so a large attack number does not automatically make it the easiest boss weapon. It also requires Mechanical Bow Ammo, not ordinary arrows.

Aim for precise bow damage

Beam Launcher and Tactical Grenade Launcher for explosions

The Beam Launcher fires a high-density beam that causes explosions across a large area. It suits heavy opening damage and clustered targets, but rapid fire can overheat it. Use controlled bursts and keep another weapon ready instead of trying to fire continuously.

The Tactical Grenade Launcher offers improved trajectory stability for precise, long-range bombardment. Choose it if you want explosive attacks before reaching the final Technology unlock, particularly when you prefer placing shots from a distance. It uses Tactical Grenade Launcher Ammo, while the Beam Launcher needs Beam Launcher Ammo.

Laser Sword for an ammo-free backup

The Laser Sword is the best direct-hit melee choice to craft. It does not consume ammunition, although attacks still wear down its durability.

Keep it for close encounters or as a backup when ranged ammunition runs out. Melee damage struggles against the strongest ranged options in late-game player-damage setups, so prioritize a main ranged weapon before investing heavily in a sword-focused loadout.

Best weapons to craft while leveling

Start with the Crossbow, then choose your first firearm

The Crossbow is the first major ranged upgrade worth targeting. The Musket follows as the earliest firearm unlock, while the Makeshift Handgun provides another strong early option.

WeaponTechnology levelCommon attackLegendary attackAmmunition
Crossbow13280490Arrow, Fire Arrow, or Poison Arrow
Musket211,0002,000Coarse Ammo
Makeshift Handgun24320800Coarse Ammo

The Musket delivers a powerful single shot at the cost of a long reload. Use it when you can make that opening hit count. The Makeshift Handgun suits closer encounters, but its base version also needs reloading after each shot.

The Common Makeshift Handgun recipe requires:

  • 35 Ingot
  • 10 High Quality Pal Oil
  • 30 Fiber

Do not prepare Handgun Ammo for it. The Makeshift Handgun uses the same Coarse Ammo family as the Musket.

Move into rapid-fire guns before the final unlocks

The Assault Rifle is a practical mid-game target because its rapid fire provides sustained pressure. Craft it at Weapon Assembly Line II. Later, the Combat SMG and Heavy Assault Rifle give you Soralite-based alternatives before the Plasma Rifle becomes available.

Combat SMG689071,587Ancient Workbench
Heavy Assault Rifle701,6151,938Ancient Workbench

Choose the Combat SMG for its improved magazine and suppression, or the Heavy Assault Rifle for a versatile automatic weapon with stronger ammunition. Neither needs to be your final weapon to justify crafting it during progression.

The Palworld weapon crafting recipes help you budget for the separate ammunition supplies used by these Soralite guns before crafting both.

How to get Legendary weapon versions

Find the matching schematic

Higher-rarity weapons require their corresponding schematics. Schematic Lv 4 unlocks a Legendary recipe. Depending on the weapon, rarity can improve damage, durability, magazine size, and other equipment stats.

Compare the weapon you can actually craft with your current equipment. A higher-rarity version of an earlier weapon can outperform a Common version of a later unlock, so Technology progression alone does not settle every upgrade decision.

Search boss loot, chests, and Ancient Ruins

Weapon schematics come from several reward sources:

  • Alpha bosses: Specific bosses can drop Legendary schematics.
  • End-game dungeon chests: Check dungeon rewards for higher-rarity recipes.
  • Oil rig chests: Include these in your late-game schematic farming plans.
  • Ancient Ruins: Exploration and minigame rewards can provide schematics.

Choose a particular weapon upgrade before committing to repeated runs. The Palworld Legendary schematics guide covers farming targets and crafting requirements, helping you turn a broad loot hunt into a specific upgrade goal.

Which Pals make your weapons stronger?

Match Partner Skills to your weapon class

A support Pal can improve your current weapon without replacing it. Bow-focused skills are especially useful for the Mechanical Bow because they can improve damage, charging, or the effect of arrows on impact.

PalPartner SkillWeapon benefitBonus across skill levels
RobinquillGrounded ArcherBow damage10–35%
Robinquill TerraMaster ArcherBow charge speed15–30%
LoomenLantern EnchantmentArrows explode on contactExplosion bonus equal to 15–30% of your attack damage
XenogardUnknown IntruderEnergy weapon damage10–35%
PupperaiBest BoyMelee weapon damage10–35%

Partner Skill strength changes with skill level. A newly acquired support Pal should not be treated as if it already supplies the maximum bonus in the table.

Most Partner Skills no longer stack in Palworld 1.0. Use different support effects instead of filling your party with duplicate Pals. Bow support also occupies slots that could hold combat Pals or mounts, so compare those roles in the Palworld Pal tier list before committing several slots to one weapon.

Improve the support Pals you already carry

Player-focused passive skills provide another upgrade route for Pals that stay in your party:

  • Vanguard: Increases player Attack by 10%.
  • Reload Master: Increases player reload speed by 4%.
  • Stronghold Strategist: Increases player Defense by 10%.

Prioritize the offensive passives when your damage is falling short. Keep defensive support when surviving the encounter is the problem, because a stronger weapon does not help while you are down.
