Paralives Career Guide: Jobs, Promotions & Perks

The career system in Paralives is stricter than most life-sim players expect. You cannot walk into the Space Agency on day one and land a senior role. The game runs on a numeric hiring system tied to your skills, work history, and personality traits, and your job performance meter can get you fired just as fast as it earns you a raise. Here is everything you need to know to get hired, stay employed, and eventually pull in a four-figure daily salary.

How does the job application system work in Paralives?

Job listings refresh every in-game day. To browse them, click your character, open the Use Phone menu, and select Find a job. You can also check listings on any computer or interact with the physical job posters scattered around town. Holding multiple jobs simultaneously is allowed, as long as the scheduled shifts do not overlap. If your hours get messy, you can manually adjust your schedule at the bottom of the Occupations tab.

Understanding Application Points

This is the mechanic most players run into headfirst without knowing about it. Rank 1 occupations require zero Application Points to secure. For every other rank, the required points match the job rank exactly. A Rank 12 position needs 12 Application Points, a Rank 20 position needs 20, and so on.

You earn these points through a combination of factors:

  • Skill levels relevant to the target occupation
  • Work experience in that specific career field
  • Charisma stat (higher Charisma adds points across most tracks)
  • Personality Vibe (the "Serious" Vibe contributes positively to nearly every career track)

Hovering over any job listing shows your current point total and which specific skills you still need to close the gap.

Hidden bonuses that push you over the threshold

If you are a few points short of a promotion, two mechanics can tip the balance. Applying internally with your current employer adds a flat bonus of 3 Application Points. If your character has a Jester Vibe, the game occasionally awards a random bonus of 5 points during the application process.

How do you quit a job in Paralives?

Open the Occupations tab (the small bag icon on the left side of the screen), scroll to the bottom, and hit Quit Job. Your daily income stops immediately, so make sure you have savings before walking out. If you end up short on rent, checking out a Paralives money cheats guide can help you recover fast.

How do strikes and job performance work?

Your performance meter is active every time you clock in. Showing up exhausted, in a terrible mood, or without the skills the shift demands will tank your daily score. Three strikes and you are fired, no exceptions.

Strikes expire naturally after 14 in-game days, so surviving a two-week stretch without another performance failure clears the record. Two other options exist for clearing strikes faster: burning a Moon Book Story Card wipes a strike immediately, or you can adjust the global Storyteller settings to make the entire system more lenient.

How do Upgrade Points and job perks work?

Finishing a shift with a high performance score gives you a chance to earn an Upgrade Point. These points serve two purposes: permanently increasing your Job Rank (which raises your salary) or purchasing specialized Job Perks.

You can only have 3 perks equipped at any time, so rotating them based on your current goals matters. Perks are also the main way to earn Vacation Days, which are otherwise unavailable through normal progression.

What is the fastest path to a high-paying career?

Based on the pay data above, the Space Agency CEO at Rank 46 pays 2,850 per day, making it the highest-confirmed salary in the game. The Fancy Restaurant Manager at Rank 36 pays 1,500 and the Chef at Rank 35 pays 1,470, both of which are more realistic mid-game targets since the cooking and food skill trees are faster to level than the biology and science combination required for the Space Agency path.

For players who want to build their skills efficiently before jumping into a career, the Paralives build mode guide for beginners is a good starting point for getting comfortable with the game's systems before you start grinding occupations.

The tech track through ClickWork Industries is worth noting for players who invest in Programming early. The Cybersecurity Engineer role at Rank 29 pays 910, and the path from entry-level Gameplay Programmer at Rank 1 is a relatively clean skill progression focused almost entirely on Programming.

For everything else in the game, from donating collectibles to managing your household budget, the full Paralives guides collection covers every system in detail.
