Pragmata Boss Guide: How to Beat LunaDigger

The LunaDigger is the main boss of the Lunum Mines sector in Pragmata, a massive mechanized worm-machine that blocks your path to the Central Port. The fight takes place in low gravity, which changes how you move and position throughout the encounter. The good news: once you understand the boss's core pattern, this fight is considerably more forgiving than what waits for you in the Central Port. The key is knowing when to press your attack, which tools to bring, and how to flip the LunaDigger's own weapons against it.

Where is the LunaDigger fought?

The LunaDigger is the final boss of the Lunum Mines sector, encountered at the very end of the area. The game signals this clearly: there's a Shelter entrance right before the boss arena, plus an information board with additional tips. You'll also have encountered the LunaDigger earlier in the sector, roaming underground in sandy areas throughout the Lunum Mines, so you'll already have a feel for how it moves before the real showdown.

Those earlier encounters aren't required fights. As documented by TheGamer, standing on solid platforms instead of sand causes the LunaDigger to ignore you entirely. If you do choose to bait it out and deal enough damage, it will retreat and unlock the Courage In Desperation achievement. Damage dealt in those pre-boss encounters doesn't carry over to the final fight, though, so treat them as practice runs rather than a way to soften the boss.

How to defeat the LunaDigger

Phase one: targeting the mouth armor

The first phase of this fight revolves around breaking the LunaDigger's mouth armor. According to Deltia's Gaming, the boss burrows underground and only surfaces briefly, giving you short windows to deal damage. Metallic structures appear throughout the arena during this phase, and climbing them gets you to higher ground, which makes targeting the mouth significantly easier.

This first phase lasts two cycles, giving you a total of four opportunities to attack. Use every one of them. The source notes that this is your best window to stack debuffs on the boss before the structures are destroyed. Once all the metallic structures collapse, you move into the more direct confrontation.

Phase two: direct combat and DigBit redirection

Once the structures are gone, the LunaDigger fights on the surface. It will chase you with a lunging attack and can stagger you by emerging directly underneath your position. Both are dodgeable.

The Impact Barrier is the standout tool here. Deltia's Gaming notes that the game actually gives you a short tutorial on using it before the fight, and for good reason: it blocks most of the LunaDigger's attacks and staggers the boss when it makes contact with the shield. Pair that with Offensive Mode or Hybrid Mode to overheat the boss more efficiently, since the LunaDigger's continuous digging makes it relatively easy to push into overheat.

The biggest phase two mechanic is the DigBit Deployment. The boss deploys a series of DigBits (also called Digger Bots in Deltia's source) into the ground, which then dash toward you. Hack them before they hit, and they redirect straight back at the LunaDigger for significant damage and faster stagger buildup. According to Deltia's Gaming, redirected DigBits can carry you through the entire second half of this fight if timed correctly.

As the LunaDigger's health drops below half, TheGamer notes that the upper section of its body near the mouth becomes exposed, giving you more surface area to attack when the boss is Opened through Hacking. The trade-off: it becomes noticeably more aggressive, stacking multiple attacks simultaneously. Expect the boss to combine DigBit Deployment, Mouth Laser, and Missile Rain in sequence, meaning you're managing three threats while trying to maintain a hack.

What are the best weapons for the LunaDigger?

Both sources agree that ranged weapons are the right call here given the boss spends most of the fight underground or at range. The Photon Laser is consistently highlighted as a top pick, fitting the bill for both overheating the boss and dealing burst damage in short windows. The Riot Blaster and Pulse Carbine are solid secondary options according to Deltia's Gaming.

TheGamer specifically calls out the Charge Piercer and Stasis Net as useful, while noting the Shockwave Gun is a poor choice for this encounter given the range requirements. For hacking tools, the Code Generator and Sticky Bombs are recommended by TheGamer as counters to the increasingly complex Hacking Matrix as the boss's health drops.

Key tactics that most players overlook

A few things that make a real difference in this fight:

  • Circle-strafe the AOE barrage. The LunaDigger's AOE attacks are telegraphed by red circles on the ground. Constant circular movement around the boss avoids most of them without burning dodge stamina.
  • Use Confusion. Deltia's Gaming recommends the Confusion ability specifically to throw the LunaDigger off your trail during the surface phase.
  • Restock at the arena edges. Once the metallic structures fall, move to the edges of the arena. Both ammunition and additional hacking nodes are available there, according to Deltia's Gaming.
  • Hack the DigBits fast. Redirecting DigBits back at the boss isn't just extra damage, it's your fastest route to a stagger and a Critical Shot opening. TheGamer identifies this as the primary stagger method in the fight.
  • Use a Decoy Generator if you're struggling. Deltia's Gaming flags this as a reliable backup option for players finding the surface phase too aggressive.

What do you get for defeating the LunaDigger?

Defeating the LunaDigger rewards you with the Shelter License Key 4, which unlocks the final tier of upgrades in the Shelter. Deltia's Gaming also notes that it unlocks an additional Stamp Board in Cabin's Stamp Club. TheGamer confirms you also receive the means to move on to the next sector after the fight.
