Probably Stolen is a Cyberpunk Shopkeeper Sim where you check visitors against a nine-name list before reporting them to the alarm; keep Serpico’s warrant and Aug orders separate.

The opening Wanted list

A Security officer provides the Wanted document early in your shopkeeping career. Its opening roster contains the following nine names. Use the checklist to familiarize yourself with the document, not as a required order for catching criminals.

CheckName on the Wanted document
[ ]James Bailey
[ ]The Butcher
[ ]Arthur Lafleur
[ ]Odin Haraldsson
[ ]Lou
[ ]Li Bei Wen
[ ]Juan
[ ]John Smith
[ ]Leroy

Serpico belongs to a later warrant encounter, so he is not included in this opening count. Keep new instructions from Security alongside your checks against the original document.

How to check a visitor

Use this sequence before committing to a report:

  1. Check the Wanted document. Use its entries as your reference for identifying a listed visitor.
  2. Consider any offer before reporting. Odin can propose a trading relationship while asking you not to press the alarm.
  3. Press the shop alarm if you choose to report the matched criminal. Make that decision while the visitor is at your counter.

Keep identification separate from merchandise inspection. An item marked Stolen describes the goods being offered; it does not, by itself, establish which name the seller matches on the Wanted document.

Reporting rewards and faction trade-offs

An early criminal report awards 100 credits, increases Security reputation, and decreases Revolution reputation. The money is immediate income, but the faction changes are part of the same decision.

The later Serpico warrant encounter produces a different payout: 400 credits. These are encounter-specific examples, not a single bounty value to apply to every person on the opening list.

Security standing also connects to legal weapon trading. Joe Wild can arrange a firearms permit once your Security reputation is high enough. That makes reputation relevant beyond the cash received from an individual report.

Should you report Odin Haraldsson?

Odin is the clearest documented choice between reporting a wanted visitor and accepting a useful contact. He appears on the opening list, but he can also ask you not to trigger the alarm and offer a business proposition.

If you let him leave, he provides a business card and asks you to call when you have weapons for sale. His offer turns a wanted encounter into a possible route for moving weapon stock.

When keeping his contact makes sense

Keep Odin's contact if you intend to sell weapons and can wait for a buyer. A call can lead to a visit two days later, so his offer is not a substitute for money needed immediately at the counter.

The relevant weapon example is the Stun Baton, which is classified as Low-Level Contraband. Odin's buying opportunity can be useful when you hold this kind of stock, but the contact does not remove the inspection risks associated with contraband.

When reporting is the simpler choice

Choose reporting if you want to act on the warrant and do not plan to build a weapon-selling operation. Do not assign Odin the 100-credit payout from the separate early report when weighing his offer.

Contraband can be confiscated during a Security inspection, with a fine added. A future sale therefore needs to justify both the wait for Odin and the risk of holding the goods until he arrives.

If this decision is pushing you toward weapon trading, the Probably Stolen best starting specialization guide covers the broader starting choices and weapon-inspection considerations.

Keep Serpico warrants and Aug checks separate

The opening Wanted document is not the only identification task Security gives you. Later encounters introduce a named corruption warrant and a separate system for detecting Augs.

SystemWhat identifies the targetWhat to use
Opening wanted criminalsAn entry on the nine-name rosterThe Wanted document
Serpico's corruption warrantSecurity's warning naming cadet SerpicoThe later warrant instruction
Aug identificationVisual features associated with AugsThe Augmented Identification Guide

Serpico's later warrant

A Security officer warns that cadet Serpico is wanted on corruption charges. His officer role does not cancel that warning, and his absence from the opening document does not make the later warrant irrelevant.

Treat his encounter as a new instruction from Security. The 400-credit payout belongs to that later encounter, not to an additional row in the original nine-name list.

Aug identification uses visual signs

Augs are humans overtaken by rogue AI through a brain implant. The Augmented Identification Guide lists three visual features: a visible Aug chip, unusual pupils, and an uncanny expression. The Mentor also supplies a gun during this part of the game.

Use the Aug guide for that identification task. A criminal's name on the Wanted document is not the visual evidence described by the Aug guide.

Budget around bounties, not expected catches

Weekly rent rises, while stock purchases and nightly services compete for your cash. Budget from money already received, not a payout you expect from a future visitor or an Odin sale that has not happened yet.

The Probably Stolen - Cyberpunk Shopkeeper Sim shop economy guide explains how to separate sales revenue from profit and account for stock, nightly fees, and rent.

Before spending a bounty on machinery or more contraband, set aside the amount needed for your next rent payment and operating costs.
