David's Quest is one of the first sidequests you'll encounter inREPLACED, and it rewards you with two genuinely useful items if you see it through. The catch is that it chains through three different NPCs, includes a minigame with a score threshold to hit, and is only available during Chapter 2. Miss the window and you miss the rewards. Here's everything you need to complete it without backtracking twice.
How do you start David's Quest in REPLACED?
Head to the very entrance of the Railway Station and look for David, an NPC standing near his telescope. Talk to him and he'll explain that the lens on his telescope is scratched beyond use. His fix? Track down a "weird girl" at the arcade who apparently has some binoculars she can part with.
From David's position, go left into the Station Hall. Head left again, down the stairs, and continue left until you reach the arcade. That's where you'll find Susan.

Susan inside the arcade
What does Susan need before she hands over the binoculars?
Susan won't just hand the binoculars over. She needs a rectifier to fix the arcade cabinets first, and getting one requires a detour.
Leave the arcade, head back out to the streets, and go left toward the hospital. Find the ticket machine and interact with it. This gives you the Scan: Electronic Components, which is what Susan needs. Return to the arcade and hand everything over.
Susan will pull the rectifier from the components and fix the first cabinet. Then she adds another condition: beat her high score before she hands over the binoculars.
How do you beat the Donor Rush minigame?
The Donor Rush minigame has a target score of 5,000 points. It runs in two alternating phases, and the difficulty scales up each round.

Phase 1: Picking up donors
You're driving through the city and an arrow points you toward donors (organ donors, specifically). Drive over them to pick them up, then return to the hospital in the center. The game starts with 3 donors per round. Each completed round adds 1 more donor and increases the points each one is worth, so later rounds score faster.
Phase 2: The operation
This is the surgical portion. Move the scissor icon over the organ on the yellow person and transport it to the matching hole on the pink person. Keep the organ inside the white line connecting both patients at all times.
The one awkward mechanic here: to pick up the organ initially, you need to position it near the holes on the right side of the scissors. It's counterintuitive and the source material acknowledges it feels backwards, but that's how the game works.
After Phase 2 completes, Phase 1 restarts with more donors. Keep cycling until you clear 5,000 points. Based on the documented run in the source walkthrough, a completed session can reach around 10,700 points, so there's plenty of room above the threshold once you get the rhythm down.
info
Don't stress about Phase 2 perfection early on. The point scaling in later rounds from Phase 1 is where most of your score comes from. Focus on clean donor pickups.
What rewards do you get from David's Quest?
Beating Susan's high score earns you two things before you even finish the quest:
Once you have the binoculars, return to David at the Railway Station platform. Hand them over and keep talking until you exhaust all dialogue options. Then turn on the generator next to him. The walkthrough describes what follows as David being "an idiot," which is accurate.
Completing the full quest rewards you with Genetic Profile 2, which permanently increases your health. Between that and the Immune Modulator upgrade to your Med-Stims, this sidequest pays out better than most optional content in Chapter 2.
warning
Don't turn on the generator before exhausting David's dialogue. The sequence requires you to talk through all his options first or the scene won't trigger correctly.
David's Quest is short enough that it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes even on a first run, but the Donor Rush minigame can catch players off guard if they don't understand the organ pickup mechanic.
