Scattered across the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center are five lockpicks and five simple locks that most players walk right past. Cracking them all open rewards you with Rare Metals, the crafting ingredient for the powerful 12.7x55 Ammo (also called Requiem Bullets), and unlocks the Like Mother, Like Daughter trophy. This guide maps out every single location so you never miss one.
What Are Lockpicks and Simple Locks in Resident Evil Requiem?
In Resident Evil Requiem, lockpicks are key items that Grace uses exclusively during the Care Center section of the game. You cannot use them as any other character, and they only work on simple locks, which appear on specific drawers and blue lockers throughout the facility. There are exactly 5 lockpicks and 5 simple locks to find, and opening at least one locked container is all it takes to trigger the trophy reward.
Lockpicks are only usable by Grace during the Care Center section. If you miss them before reaching a point of no return, you will not be able to go back.

All Lockpick Locations
Below is a full breakdown of every lockpick location in the Care Center, organized by floor and wing.
Lockpick 1: West Wing Office (2nd Floor)
Head to the second floor of the West Wing and climb the staircase directly in front of the Custodian's Office. Once upstairs, enter the Office room adjacent to the Records Room. The lockpick sits on the desk next to the PC monitor. This is one of the easiest picks to grab early in your Care Center exploration.
Lockpick 2: Custodian's Office (1st Floor, West Wing)
This one requires a bit of prep work. You first need the ID Wristband (Level 1), which you can find on a dead body outside the Lead Researcher's Office in the East Wing. Use that wristband on the door south of the Kitchen to access the Custodian's Office. Once inside, check the lockers and you will find the lockpick inside one of them.
Grab the ID Wristband (Level 1) from the East Wing before heading to the Custodian's Office, or you will make an unnecessary trip back.
Lockpick 3: Lead Researcher's Office (East Wing)
The Lead Researcher's Office in the East Wing is also where you encounter the second puzzle box. As you enter, look toward the east side of the room for a small cabinet. The lockpick rests on top of it and is easy to spot once you know where to look.
Lockpick 4: Basement Boiler Room
Once Grace descends into the Basement, make your way to the Boiler Room on the east side. Approach from the north entrance to avoid the electrified water on the floor. Navigate to the northeast section of the Basement and use a joint plug to open a north-facing path into the Boiler Room. The lockpick is on the east side of the room, just past a broken fence corner.
The Shadow Ghost (The Girl) actively pursues you through the Basement section. Stay alert and plan your route to the Boiler Room carefully.
Lockpick 5: Basement Tunnel (Workshop to Inspection Room)
The final lockpick is hidden inside the tunnel connecting the Workshop to the Inspection Room. To get through, you need the Square Socket Wrench, which is found inside the Red Toolbox in the Boiler Room. Use the wrench to open the vent passage in the Workshop, then walk through the tunnel to collect the lockpick.
All 5 Simple Lock Locations
With all five lockpicks in hand, here is where to find every simple lock across the Care Center.
Simple Lock 1: West Wing Hallway (1st Floor)
This drawer sits beside a sofa on the northwest side of the West Wing, just south of the Restroom near the Kitchen. It is easy to pass by if you are rushing through the dark hallway connecting the Kitchen to the Dining Room area.
Simple Lock 2: East Wing Lobby (1st Floor)
Look for the cabinet on the south side of the East Wing Lobby. According to multiple sources covering the Care Center layout, this drawer is positioned across from the Mr. Raccoon statue, making it a useful visual landmark.
Simple Lock 3: Chairman's Office Hallway (2nd Floor)
This drawer is right outside the Chairman's Office door on the second floor of the West Wing. You will likely pass it while working through the Chairman's Office puzzle, so keep an eye on the wall to your side as you approach the entrance.
Simple Lock 4: Basement Bunkroom
In the Bunkroom on the Basement level, look for a row of blue lockers on the east side. The one you can open with the lockpick is the left locker specifically. You can reach the Bunkroom by using a joint plug outside the Boiler Room.
Simple Lock 5: Basement Inspection Room
The last simple lock requires the Forklift Key, found on a dead body leaning against the broken railing in the Processing area. Use the Forklift Key to access the Inspection Room, then proceed past the meat hangers to the eastern side of the room where a blue locker awaits.
How to Use Lockpicks
Using a lockpick is straightforward once you have one in your inventory. Approach any simple lock container and interact with it. Grace will automatically use a lockpick from her inventory to break it open. There is no minigame involved, unlike some other entries in the Resident Evil series. Each lockpick is consumed on use, so you need one per container.
There are exactly 3 drawers and 2 blue lockers among the 5 simple locks, all located within the Care Center. No simple locks appear outside this section of the game.
