Every unit has multiple gear slots, and the right combination of standard and unit-specific equipment can push your best characters well beyond their base stats. How does the equipment system work in Anime Expeditions?
Each unit has dedicated equipment slots visible in the loadout panel. Gear falls into two categories: standard equipment that any unit can equip, and unit-specific equipment that is locked to a single character. Standard pieces provide reliable stat bumps and work well for filling out early rosters. Unit-specific gear tends to be significantly more powerful because it adds a unique passive ability on top of the stat bonus.
Slots unlock progressively as your account level and Story progress increase. All slots are accessible before you hit the Expeditions mode at level 20, so there is no reason to sit on unequipped units while pushing through the early acts.

The Shinigami Sword stands out from the rest of the standard pool. Its passive scales with how many enemies are within range, meaning it rewards placement on units covering high-traffic chokepoints. At 15 enemies in range, that passive alone adds over 12% bonus damage on top of the base stat roll.

Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1)
Stats: -1% to -5% SPA, +1% to +5% Range Passive (Crumble Away): Applies Slow based on the active attack. Explode applies 20% Slow, Blast Away applies 35%, Twist applies 50%, and Crush applies 65%.
Hollow (Blaze)
Stats: +1% to +10% Damage, -1% to -5% SPA Passive (Radial Flames): When a Burning enemy stops taking tick damage within this unit's range, one Burn application converts into Austere Flames dealing 85% of the unit's current damage. This instance does not stack.
Flame Emperor (Reincarnate)
Stats: +1% to +10% Damage, +1% to +5% Range Passive (Wildfire): Details pending confirmation.
String Demon (Awakened)
Stats: +1% to +10% Range, -1% to -5% SPA Passive (Cocoon of Carnage): Every 5 regular attacks cocoons enemies. Full details pending.

Reaper (Released)
Stats: +2.8% Critical Chance, +3.7% Critical Damage Passive (Adaptation): Gains permanent buffs after attacking different enemy types. Each new enemy type attacked permanently increases Damage by 10% and Critical Chance by 10%.
8th Sword (Berserk)
Stats: +2.26% Damage, +1.04% Range Passive (Demonic Presence): Enemies within 50% of this unit's range take 15% of the unit's current damage every 1 second. Savage Rebound: When stunned, immediately cleanses the stun and performs a Follow-Up Attack (Thunderclap Cut) at 125% of current damage. All Follow-Up Attacks from this unit apply Dismembered to enemies.
How to reroll equipment stats
Every equipment piece has a stat range, and the difference between a minimum and maximum roll is significant. A Kunai at +1% Damage and a Kunai at +10% Damage are not the same item in practice.
To reroll stats, you need equipment reroll items. These drop from Challenges or can be purchased from the Gold Shop for 2500 Gold each. The reroll randomizes all unlocked stats, so if you want to protect a good roll while fishing for a better one on another stat, pick up an equipment lock first. The lock preserves one specific stat through the reroll process.
What equipment should you prioritize?
The answer depends on what you are trying to accomplish. For clearing Story Mode, stack Damage weapons on your primary DPS units.
