Fake an Egg looks simple from the outside: hatch some pets, put them in your pen, watch the money roll in. But there's a twist that separates it from every other pet sim on Roblox — other players can disguise themselves as eggs and walk straight into your base to steal your best pets. Understanding both sides of that mechanic, plus the Fuse Machine, Mutations, Traits, and Scanner Gear, is what separates players who snowball fast from those who grind for hours and barely move.

Pet pen earning passive cash
How to farm money fast in Fake an Egg
The core income loop is straightforward: better pets in your pen means more cash per second. Everything else, rebirthing, feeding, upgrading pen size, feeds back into that one goal.
Start with the free shark
Before spending a single coin on eggs, like the game in the Roblox client and join the official group. Both steps are free and unlock a caged shark near the center of the map. Walk up to it and interact to claim it as your own pet. The shark outperforms every early-game egg you can buy, so grabbing it first gives you a significant head start on income.
Rebirth early and often
Rebirthing in Fake an Egg does not strip your pets — it only removes your current cash. In return, you get a permanent cash multiplier and an egg hatch speed multiplier that stays with you forever. The first rebirth requirements are intentionally light, asking only for starter pets like the Chicken and a small cash threshold. Rebirths compound over time, so doing them early costs very little and pays off for the entire run.
To rebirth, tap the red-and-white arrow button on the far right of the screen and check the listed requirements.
Upgrade your pen size strategically
More pen slots means more pets earning simultaneously. To upgrade, hop over the fence at the back of your pen and interact with the sign. Each upgrade costs exponentially more than the last and only adds one slot, so save up enough to buy several upgrades in a row rather than buying one at a time.
If your pen is full and you can't afford the next upgrade yet, press the Pets button on the right side of the screen. Your pets are listed from highest to lowest income. Unequip and sell the lowest earners at the shop near the Leaderboards to free up space for stronger pets.
Feed your pets
Every player has a pet feeder on the left side of their base. Fill it with food from the shop next to the caged shark. Even the cheapest option, the Carrot, boosts your pets' earnings by roughly 10-20% above the baseline. A full feeder can push earnings up to 50% higher. Food is cheap relative to the income gain, so restocking it regularly is one of the easiest efficiency wins in the game.
Claim index rewards
The blue book icon on the right side of the screen is the index. It tracks every pet, Weather event, and Mutation you've encountered. Filling out entries rewards you with cash and items including Scanners. Check it periodically and redeem anything available.

Rebirth multiplier requirements
How to use the Fuse Machine in Fake an Egg
The Fuse Machine sits near the Leaderboards, right beside the pet shop. Instead of selling three unwanted pets for cash, you can fuse them into a single, stronger pet. Equip three pets, approach the machine, and they load in automatically. Trigger the fusion and the result appears instantly. Fused pets can also come out with Mutations applied, which boosts their income further.
Fusing is worth doing whenever you have three pets that are weaker than your current roster. The resulting pet will almost always outperform what you put in, and the chance at a Mutation makes it better value than a straight sale.
What are Mutations and Traits in Fake an Egg?
These two systems both increase a pet's income, but they work differently.
Mutations (Gold, Diamond, and Rainbow) appear randomly on eggs that spawn in the center of the map. A mutated egg hatches into a pet that earns more than the standard version of the same pet. The Fuse Machine can also produce Mutations on the resulting pet.
Traits are applied to eggs during specific Weather events. Each Weather type corresponds to one Trait, and the Trait sticks to any egg that spawns while that Weather is active. Weather events cycle on their own, or you can trigger them manually at the Weather Machine near the shark cage and food shop by spending Robux.
Here's every Trait ranked by income multiplier:
| Trait | Weather Event | Income Multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| Disco | Dance Party | x2 Cash |
| Haunted | Halloween Event | x2 Cash |
| Sea | Underwater | x3 Cash |
| Cursed | Blood Moon | x3.5 Cash |
| Volcano | Volcano | x4 Cash |
| Acid | Acid Rain | x4.5 Cash |
| Meteor | Meteor Shower | x5.5 Cash |
| Electric | Thunderstorm | x6 Cash |
| Tornado | Tornado | x6.5 Cash |
| Eclipse | Solar Eclipse | x7 Cash |
Eclipse is the top Trait in the game at x7 cash, followed by Tornado at x6.5. If you want to maximize a specific pet's income, waiting for the right Weather event before hatching its egg makes a real difference. How to steal pets efficiently in Fake an Egg
Stealing is one of the fastest ways to upgrade your collection, and it's built directly into the game's design. The basic loop: enter the disguise tube inside your pen, pick an egg form, and wait in the center of the map for another player to pick you up and carry you into their base. Once inside, you grab their best pet and run.
Pick the right disguise
Any disguise can work, but your odds improve when you match what other players actually want to pick up. Eggs needed for Rebirth are the most attractive targets since the game displays floating icons above each player's base showing which eggs they need. Disguising as one of those eggs puts you in front of motivated, distracted players.
Move like a real egg
Real eggs in the center of the map jump and turn unpredictably, but they never spin in rapid 360-degree circles and they don't sit still for long stretches. They start moving almost immediately after being dropped. Replicating that pattern, consistent but irregular movement, no sudden full rotations, no long pauses, makes you much harder to identify as a player.
Target nearby pens
After a successful steal, you still have to physically carry the pet back to your own base. The victim can fight back with a bat during that window. Targeting pens close to your own keeps the return trip short and reduces your exposure.
How to defend against thieves
Knowing how disguised players move is the best passive defense. Eggs that spin in tight circles or pause for several seconds before moving are suspicious. For active defense, use Scanner Gear.
What does Scanner Gear do and how do you get it?
Scanners let you check whether an egg in the center of the map is real or a disguised player. Walk up to a suspicious egg with a Scanner equipped and interact with it — the Scanner tells you immediately which it is.
The catch: Scanners are single-use. One scan, then it's gone.
Scanners come in multiple rarities: Common, Rare, Exotic, and Divine. Each rarity only works on eggs of the same rarity. An Uncommon Scanner won't reveal a Legendary egg, so matching the rarity matters.
You can get Scanners from three places:
- The Scanner Shop, which sits between the Weather Machine and the Food Shop overlooking the center of the map
- Index collection rewards for filling out pet and Mutation entries
- Rebirthing, which can drop Scanners as part of the reward
Stock up before buying expensive eggs. A stolen high-value pet is a significant setback, and a Scanner is cheap insurance.
What should you do first in Fake an Egg?
Here's the fastest starting sequence:
- Complete the tutorial and hatch your Bunny Egg
- Like the game and join the group to unlock the free shark
- Claim the shark and place it in your pen
- Buy food from the shop near the shark cage and fill your feeder
- Rebirth as soon as you meet the first requirements
- Use the Fuse Machine on any three weak pets you accumulate
- Start upgrading pen size in batches, not one at a time
- Pick up Scanners from the Scanner Shop before buying high-rarity eggs
