Before heading to Volcano Island, there's one hard requirement: you must have the Phoenix (or any stronger flying pet). Without a flying pet, getting into the volcano through jumps alone is technically possible, but escaping after grabbing the egg is not. The Dragon wakes up the moment you touch the egg, and the exit requires flight. Don't attempt this run without meeting that requirement first.
Unlike other Ethereal eggs that have multiple spawn points scattered across the map, the Volcanic Egg has exactly one spawn location: the Dragon's Lair, deep inside the volcano on Volcano Island. No alternatives, no shortcuts.
Where is Volcano Island in Ride a Pet?
Volcano Island sits past the Desert biome. Head through the Desert and go into the water beyond it; the island will be visible from there. The volcano itself dominates the island, and the entrance you need is on the right side of the volcano structure, not the obvious front face.

Once you've confirmed the Volcanic Egg has spawned (via the on-screen announcement or the tracker NPC), follow this sequence:
- Travel to Volcano Island by heading through the Desert biome and crossing the water.
- Fly to the right side of the volcano and locate the small entrance.
- Enter and descend. Pick any path downward through the volcano interior and commit to it, because you'll need to retrace that exact path on the way out.
- Reach the Dragon's Lair. Keep descending until you find the sleeping Dragon. The Volcanic Egg sits right next to it.
- Grab the egg. The moment you pick it up, a 20-second countdown starts. The Dragon wakes immediately and starts throwing fireballs.
- Exit the volcano using the same path you came in. Dodge the fireballs and get out before the timer hits zero.
- Fly to your ranch. After exiting the volcano, a second 20-second timer begins. Reach your ranch before it expires, or the egg cracks.
What happens if you don't make it in time?
There are two failure points in this run. Miss the first 20-second window and you won't escape the volcano alive. Make it out but fail to reach your ranch in the second 20-second window and the egg cracks on arrival. Both timers are tight, especially if your flying pet is slow or your ranch is far from the island.
The double-timer structure is what makes this retrieval genuinely difficult compared to other Ethereal eggs. Plan your route to your ranch before you even enter the volcano.
