Roblox Paradox is back with its rerelease, and your power choice is the single most important decision you'll make. Whether you're a Soul Reaper chasing the best Shikai, a Quincy hunting for the top Schrift, or a Hollow grinding toward a strong Resurrection, rolling the wrong power wastes hours of progression. After testing every power across PvP and PvE, here's a full breakdown of what's worth keeping and what deserves a reroll.
How does the power system work in Roblox Paradox?
Your power in Paradox determines your entire moveset. Soul Reapers wield Shikai and unlock Bankai, Quincy players use Schrift and upgrade to Vollstandig, and Hollows run Resurrection. Each power rolls at one of three rarities: Legendary (1% chance), Rare (10% chance), or Common (89% chance). Higher rarity generally means stronger moves, but as you'll see below, rarity is not a guarantee of quality.
To reroll your power, you need an Ability Reroll item. Open the menu with M, navigate to Summoning, then head to the Shikai section to reroll. Your new power lands in your inventory as a named item. You can earn Ability Rerolls through Boss Raids, Eternal Flame runs, Ranked PvP, and redeemable codes.

The rankings below cover all eight Shikai powers based on their performance across both PvP and PvE game modes, as documented in the April 2026 rerelease tier list.
S tier Shikai
Gravity (Legendary, item name: Gravity Core) is based on Izuru Kira's Shikai and earns the top spot for one reason: every single move feeds into a combo. The Z move pulls enemies in with a Gravity Field that deals Posture damage, X applies a multi-slash that slowly drags the target, and C grabs, lifts, and pulls opponents into position. The Bankai, Shizumu Chinmoku Wabisuke, adds Anti-Gravity (area rip with Guardbreaks) and Gravity Shuffle (ranged AoE using rocks ripped from the ground). The only gap in the kit is zero mobility skills, so pair it with a skill tree that covers movement.
Flower (Legendary, item name: Blooming Lotus) is inspired by Byakuya Kuchiki's Shikai and Bankai. Where Gravity wins on combo depth, Flower wins on versatility. Its moves have short wind-ups, which matters more in PvP than raw damage numbers. Blossom creates a petal tornado with Guardbreaks and knockback, Sakura Slash deals Posture damage with a stun, and Petal Storm is a forward rush that drags and knocks back. The Bankai, Senbonzakura Kageyoshi, adds Senkai (raining swords, Guardbreaks) and SenbonSlicers (three aimed swords, Guardbreaks). The one weakness is relatively low combo potential compared to Gravity.
Lightning (Rare, item name: Stormheart) is based on Chojiro Sasakibe's Shikai and is the most impressive Rare in the game. Guardbreaks appear on nearly every move, and the mobility from Volt Dash (electric forward dash that pulls enemies with you) is unmatched in the Shikai category. Chaotic Bolt and Disaster Strike both Guardbreak and knock up. The Bankai, Gonryomaru-Koko, adds Flash Jump and Electrocution (a lightning dash into a grab). The tradeoff is that almost every move requires precise aim, so this one rewards players who put in practice time.

A tier Shikai
Blood (Rare, item name: Bloodstone) draws from Unohana's Shikai. The entire kit is built around range and kiting: Echo slams the ground with blood and knocks enemies away, Carnage impales and drags along the floor, and Ending summons a blood dragon at your mouse location. Once you unlock the Bankai, All Things-Minazuki, healing enters the picture, making it excellent for solo PvE grinding. The downside in PvP is that long wind-ups on some moves telegraph your intentions.
Rampage (Legendary, item name: Rampage Crest) is based on Kenpachi Zaraki and looks more impressive on paper than it plays in practice before you get the Bankai. Crusher, Rage, and Meteor Crash all chain together, but the AoE is small and the wind-ups are long. The Bankai, Drink Nozarashi, fixes most of this with Raging Beast (a neck grab that drags across the ground) and Berserk Rush (a forward thrashing dash). Treat it as a Bankai-dependent power.
Wind (Common, item name: Zephyr Core) is based on Kensei Muguruma and is the best Common Shikai by a clear margin. Kaze Twirl gives instant forward mobility, Gale Slashes applies knockback, and Gust stuns in a cone. The problem before Bankai is that nothing Guardbreaks, so every move can be blocked. The Bankai, Tekken Tachikaze, solves this with Tempest Effusion (bypasses block entirely) and Tekken Tachikaze (Guardbreaks on a wind rush). For PvE kiting, Wind is genuinely solid even at Common rarity.
B tier Shikai
Shadow (Common, item name: Shadowgem) is based on Shunsui Kyoraku and is one of those powers that transforms completely once you hit Bankai. The base kit is below average for PvP, and the short range hurts in PvE. But the Bankai move Kageokuri snares enemies by their shadow and bypasses block entirely, which is one of the strongest PvP tools in any Shikai kit. If you're patient enough to grind to Bankai, Shadow punches above its tier.
Fire (Common, item name: Inferno Ember) is based on Isshin Kurosaki and is, bluntly, the weakest Shikai in Paradox. Emblaze, Blazing Rend, and Adjourned Flame all orbit melee range with almost no Guardbreaks. The Bankai, Zanka No Tachi, adds Celsius Tank (up to 6 AoE stomps with Guardbreaks), which gives it a usable combo, but everything before that point is a slog. Reroll if you land this.

Fire Shikai is the only power in the game with no redeeming qualities before Bankai. If you're early in progression and rolled Fire, an Ability Reroll is worth the grind.
Roblox Paradox Schrift tier list
Schrifts are the Quincy power system. There are only five in the current rerelease build, and the gap between S and B tier is wider here than in the Shikai list.
S tier Schrifts
Fear (Legendary, item name: Nightmare Crystal) is based on As Nodt's Schrift and is the strongest Quincy power in the game. The base kit is already excellent before you touch the Vollstandig: All Seeing launches a Guardbreaking fear projectile, Release sends an AoE fear wave with Posture damage, and Shiver seizes and ground-slams with a Guardbreak. The Vollstandig, F-Fear, adds Instinct (5 full seconds of dodge frames) and Nightmare (a mouse-placed demonic arm grab that is completely Unblockable). Five seconds of i-frames is not a typo. That single move makes Fear the best power for surviving high-pressure PvP situations.
Explode (Rare, item name: Blastcore) is based on Bambietta Basterbine's Schrift and is the best Rare power in the entire game. Implant is a two-part move: you hit the opponent, then press Z again to detonate, bypassing block entirely. Power Surge is an explosion blast with Guardbreaks, and Rush is a devastating forward lunge. The Vollstandig, E-Explode, adds Reishi Burst (fly up and drop bombs) and Shell Meteor (aim-based rapid-fire impact bombs). The only caveat is that the two-part mechanics require practice to land consistently.
Deathdealing (Legendary, item name: Deathdealing Essence) is based on Nakk Le Vaar's power and excels specifically at countering mobile players. Gift Bad prevents flashstep and slows movement speed while applying a Guardbreak, which shuts down one of the most common PvP escape tools in the game. Gift Ball is a ranged projectile for kiting, Gift Essence covers a ranged area, and the Vollstandig moves Gift Ring and Gift Bereich create area denial zones. The weakness is a lack of actual combos, and the base moveset feels underwhelming until Vollstandig unlocks.
A and B tier Schrifts
Heat (Common, item name: Molten Heart) is inspired by Bazz-B and does a reasonable impression of the S tier Schrifts without quite matching any of them. Combustion handles forward blasts, Inferno Stomp covers ground AoE, and Burning Slide grabs and throws with a Guardbreak. The Vollstandig adds Heat Whips with Posture damage. It's functional for PvE grinding and holds up in casual PvP, but any S tier Schrift will outperform it.
Power (Common, item name: Titan Relic) is based on Meninas McAllon's Schrift. One Two Punch, Death Stride (block-bypassing grab and throw), Ravage, Power Barrage, and Demolish all focus on melee range. That's the problem: anything with range will simply kite Power players indefinitely. It's the worst Schrift in the current build.
Roblox Paradox Resurrection tier list
Resurrections are the Hollow power system, and this tier list has the most surprising rarity inversions of the three.
S tier Resurrections
Gunners (Legendary, item name: Primera Fang) is inspired by Starrk's power and is arguably the strongest Resurrection in Paradox. The key mechanic is that activating it converts your M1 attacks into ranged shots, which function as combo starters at a distance. Furious Kick is a counter that triggers a devastating blast, Cero Metralleta fires a Guardbreaking flurry of explosive shots, and Wolves releases hounds on the nearest opponent with Guardbreaks. The counter skill alone makes Gunners exceptional in PvP.
Bat (Legendary, item name: Murciélago Core) is based on Ulquiorra Cifer's Resurrection. Finalizando Cero hits fast and hard with Guardbreaks, Sonido Slashes uses a Sonido maneuver to chain a barrage of slashes with Posture damage, and Venganza creates a gravity orb that draws enemies in and implodes. Bat trades Gunners' counter utility for better PvE performance, making it the preferred pick if you spend most of your time farming rather than fighting players.
A and B tier Resurrections
Panther (Rare, item name: Pantera Fang) is based on Grimmjow's power. Every single move Guardbreaks: Shallow Dance is a forward claw barrage, Claw Strike flash-steps to the opponent on hit, and Gran Ray Cero leaps into the air and fires a grand cero with reiatsu rain. The gap-closer on Claw Strike is genuinely useful in PvP, but Panther can't reach the damage ceiling that Bat and Gunners achieve.
Heaven (Common, item name: Celestial Sigil) is a non-Bleach Arrancar power and one of the best value picks in the game. At an 89% roll chance, you'll land it frequently, and it performs at A tier. Spear Shield summons a tornado of holy energy and spears with Guardbreaks, Divine Impale scatters on hit, and Divine Spear is a mouse-aimable giant holy lance. The only real weakness is zero mobility across all three moves, which you'll need to compensate for through skill tree choices.
Divinity (Legendary, item name: not confirmed in current sources) is based on Black Goku and is the only Legendary power that sits in B tier. Energy Sweep, Death Ball, and Plasma Burst all deal solid damage with Guardbreaks or Posture damage, but the kit lacks utility, the only ranged move is easy to dodge, and there's no mobility. Rolling Legendary rarity and landing Divinity is one of the more frustrating outcomes in Paradox. Reroll it.

Divinity has a 1% roll chance but underperforms Heaven, which drops at 89%. Don't hold onto Divinity just because it's Legendary.
How do you unlock Bankai and Vollstandig in Paradox?
Unlocking your upgrade form is a significant progression milestone, and the requirements differ by race.
For Bankai (Soul Reaper): reach 705 Potential, get gripped ten times by players of different races, defeat Kisuke, confront your Bankai Spirit in Soul Society, and survive his trials.
For Vollstandig (Quincy): also requires 705 Potential, plus completing quests from Yhwach (who spawns every 2 real-time hours in Wandenreich), killing all 4 Lunarzz bosses, killing 20 Soul Reapers, and killing 20 Arrancar players.
Resurrection-based powers (Hollow) do not follow this same unlock path. Check the dedicated progression guides for Hollow-specific steps.

Yhwach spawns on a real-time 2-hour cycle in Wandenreich. If you're grinding Vollstandig quests, plan your sessions around that timer rather than waiting at spawn.
