Throw Food For Animals mutations and sizes boost animal income and sale value, and each catch can combine one mutation with a size modifier.
In Roblox, a rare-looking animal is not automatically your best earner. Its species, mutation, and size all affect the result, so compare the income of the catch you own before replacing a resident. The Update 1 tables below cover five mutations and nine size tiers, including their Normal Throw and Lucky Throw chances. You will also find the steps for improving mutation odds and deciding which variants to keep or sell.
Mutation chances and multipliers
Each mutation changes an animal's appearance and applies the same multiplier to its earnings per second and sale value. Use this five-entry checklist to identify your catch and compare the mutation tiers.
| Mutation | Appearance | Normal Throw chance | Lucky Throw chance | Income and sale multiplier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gold | Sparkling golden skin | 13% | 9.5% | 1.5x |
| Diamond | Crystal-like skin | 4% | 25% | 3x |
| Emerald | Green skin | 2% | 29% | 5x |
| Ruby | Red, ruby-like skin | 1% | 23% | 10x |
| Rainbow | Multicolored skin | 0.5% | 14% | 20x |
Which mutation is best?
Rainbow is the strongest mutation. For animals of the same species and size, it offers the highest income and sale value. Keep useful intermediate variants while hunting it, since its Normal Throw chance is the lowest in the mutation table.
Lucky Throws shift the listed odds toward Diamond, Emerald, Ruby, and Rainbow. Emerald is the most likely mutation in the Lucky Throw column, even though Ruby and Rainbow have larger multipliers.
Gold is the exception to that improvement. Its listed chance falls with a Lucky Throw, so the paid option is not the better choice if you specifically want Gold for your collection. Every mutation can appear from a Normal Throw.
Size chances and multipliers
Size is a separate modifier with nine tiers in Update 1. Each tier increases an animal's earnings and sale value, with the strongest sizes becoming much rarer on Normal Throws.
| Size | Normal Throw chance | Lucky Throw chance | Income and sale multiplier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Big | 15% | 21% | 1.5x |
| Large | 3.5% | 42% | 2.25x |
| Huge | 0.97% | 22% | 3.38x |
| Colossal | 0.31% | 8.49% | 5.06x |
| Gigantic | 0.12% | 3.6% | 7.59x |
| Titanic | 0.05% | 1.48% | 11.39x |
| Monstrous | 0.02% | 0.6% | 17.09x |
| Cosmic | 0.008% | 0.24% | 25.63x |
| Infinite | 0.005% | 0.16% | 38x or higher |
How rare is Infinite size?
Infinite is the strongest size tier. Its listed odds equal one in 20,000 per Normal Throw or one in 625 per Lucky Throw. These are probabilities for an attempt, not a guarantee that you will catch one after that many throws.
Lucky Throws improve the listed chance of every size tier, but Large remains their most likely size result. A Lucky Throw does not guarantee a top-tier size.
Infinite's multiplier is 38x or higher, so do not treat 38x as a fixed ceiling when comparing a catch with your current animals.
How mutations and sizes stack
An animal can have one mutation alongside a size modifier. A Gold animal can also be Huge, for example, but it cannot carry Gold and Diamond together.
Mutation and size effects stack additively, not multiplicatively. Do not multiply the two table values together to calculate a combined animal's earnings. Use the income displayed on that animal when comparing it with another catch.
What is the strongest combination?
Rainbow + Infinite is the strongest named pairing, combining the highest mutation tier with the highest size tier. The pairing must appear on the same catch; collecting separate Rainbow and Infinite animals does not combine their modifiers.
Update 1 has no weather events or machines that apply mutations to existing animals. Improve the throws that produce your next catches instead of waiting to add a second mutation to an animal you already own.
How to improve your mutation chances
Your Luck multiplier affects mutation rolls. Food gains Luck as it travels through the air, so training Throw Power helps by increasing the distance you can throw. Higher-tier food also helps raise Luck.
Prepare a better throw
Use this sequence when improving your hunting setup:
- Train Throw Power on the pull-up bars. More power increases how far your food can travel.
- Upgrade your food. Higher-tier food supports better mutation chances, but food does not replace Throw Power as the stat controlling distance.
- Prepare a throw and open Details. This button appears while you are preparing a throw on the map and shows the mutation chances for your setup.
- Decide whether to use a Lucky Throw. This Robux-exclusive power-up changes the odds as shown in the tables.

Check odds before throwing
Recheck Details after changing your setup. Your current mutation odds are more useful for judging the next attempt than assuming every Normal Throw has identical chances regardless of Luck.
The Throw Food For Animals beginner's guide covers training, food upgrades, and base progression in more detail. Keep working toward stronger animal areas while hunting variants, since a better species can improve income without a rare mutation.
Which animals should you keep or sell?
Use Equip Best when reviewing your residents, then separate income upgrades from collection choices. A rare appearance or unusually large animal may be worth preserving even when it no longer belongs in your active lineup.
| Your goal | What to compare | Recommended action |
|---|---|---|
| Increase plot income | The new catch's displayed earnings against your current resident's earnings | Keep the stronger earner active |
| Collect variants | The species, mutation, and size you want to preserve | Keep the desired catch without treating it as a required income upgrade |
| Clear superseded animals | Whether a catch still serves an income or collection goal | Sell catches you no longer need |
Why an ordinary animal can beat a rare variant
A mutation scales the species' starting income. For example, a Snail has a base income of $1 per second, so a Rainbow Snail with no size modifier earns $20 per second. An unmodified Pony earns $25 per second and is the better income choice despite having no mutation.
Before selling a variant, check which animal would replace it and whether you still want its appearance or size for your collection. Choose active residents by their displayed earnings, and preserve collectible catches as a separate decision.
