Unlock the Super Slot in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds by reaching 40 total races and obtaining the Grand Master Plate. This seventh Gadget slot accepts one-slot Gadgets and amplifies the effect of the Gadget placed there. The benefit depends on your choice, so it is not a single multiplier applied across your loadout.
Ver. 2.0.0 also changes several normal-slot effects. Ring Engine, Ring Evolution, and Crash Pads now have different values depending on their placement. Choose which bonus you want to strengthen before rearranging your plate.
How to unlock the Super Slot with the Grand Master Plate
Finish a Grand Prix to open the Customize Gadgets menu. Your Gadget Plate then expands as you complete more races, progressing from the starting Normal Plate through the milestones below.
| Gadget Plate | Total races required | Slot capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Plate | Available at the start | 2 |
| Bronze Plate | Six | 3 |
| Silver Plate | 18 | 4 |
| Gold Plate | 20 | 5 |
| Master Plate | 28 | 6 |
| Grand Master Plate | 40 | 7, including the Super Slot |
The final upgrade takes 12 more races after reaching Master Plate. Once the Grand Master Plate is available, open Customize Gadgets and place an eligible Gadget into its special seventh position.
Plate upgrades are separate from individual Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds unlock requirements. Additional Gadgets can also come from World Match ranks and Festival points, so plate capacity and your Gadget collection do not progress through identical requirements.

Your seventh Gadget slot unlocks
Can you use it immediately after updating?
Yes. Players who already meet the race requirement can use the Super Slot immediately after installing the patch. Existing race progress counts toward the unlock.
If you are below the threshold, continue completing races. Reaching Grand Master Plate also makes the update's 15 new Gadgets obtainable, including new one-slot variants designed to fit the Super Slot.
What does the seventh Gadget slot do?
Treat the Grand Master Plate as six ordinary slots plus one amplified position. Two- and three-slot Gadgets still use the ordinary area of your plate. Their effects do not become amplified because another Gadget occupies the Super Slot.
The special position changes the effect attached to its occupant. Depending on the Gadget, that can mean a larger stat bonus, a lower activation requirement, or stronger Ring protection. Check the individual effect instead of assuming that every bonus doubles.
Check the Gadget's slot cost
Similar names can hide different slot requirements. A smaller variant can fit the Super Slot even when the original Gadget cannot.
| Super Slot-compatible variant | Slot cost | Larger Gadget | Slot cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini Lv1 Quick Charge | 1 | Lv1 Quick Charge | 2 |
| Mini Quick Recovery | 1 | Quick Recovery | 3 |
| Collision Mini Boost | 1 | Collision Boost | 2 |
For example, Mini Lv1 Quick Charge makes Level 1 Drift Charge fill slightly faster in an ordinary slot and faster in the Super Slot. The two-slot Lv1 Quick Charge remains a separate Gadget.
Compare Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Gadgets by both their effect and slot cost. A stronger version is not automatically Super Slot-compatible, and the smaller version's amplified effect should be checked on its own terms.
What bonuses does Ring Engine gain in the Super Slot?
Ring Engine gains a larger stat bonus and a higher maximum top-speed bonus when placed in the Super Slot. Its stat effect requires you to hold at least 1 Ring.
| Ring Engine effect | Ordinary slot | Super Slot |
|---|---|---|
| Bonus to all stats while holding at least 1 Ring | +8 | +12 |
| Maximum top-speed bonus | Up to +2 km/h | Up to +3 km/h |
| Ring consumption | Slowly loses Rings over time | Slowly loses Rings over time |
The speed figures are caps. In both positions, the top-speed bonus scales with the number of Rings held. Collecting a single Ring activates the stat bonus, but does not automatically award the maximum speed increase.
Ver. 2.0.0 reduced Ring Engine's ordinary-slot values from their previous levels. Using the amplified position restores the +12 stat bonus and the +3 km/h speed cap, although the speed bonus now depends on your held Rings.
What about Hyper Ring Engine?
Hyper Ring Engine costs two slots, so it cannot occupy the Super Slot. Its maximum top-speed bonus is now up to +3 km/h and also scales with Rings held.
Pairing Hyper Ring Engine with Ring Engine no longer grants the former additional +2 km/h top-speed effect. Do not add that removed pairing bonus when comparing your plate options.
How does the Super Slot change Ring Evolution's requirement?
Ring Evolution uses collected Rings to increase your stats. The relevant Super Slot change is its activation requirement: the amplified position lowers the number of Rings needed.
| Placement | Ring requirement |
|---|---|
| Ordinary slot | 15 Rings |
| Super Slot | 10 Rings |
The ordinary requirement rose from 10 to 15 Rings in Ver. 2.0.0. Placing Ring Evolution in the Super Slot brings that threshold back to its previous value, requiring five fewer Rings than the updated ordinary-slot version.
Read the 10-Ring figure as the collection requirement. It is not a +10 stat bonus.
Account for faster online Ring respawns
Rings now respawn sooner after collection in online races. Ring Engine and Ring Evolution were rebalanced alongside that change because collecting and maintaining Rings becomes easier.
The shorter respawn times do not apply to offline modes such as Grand Prix and Race Park. Keep that mode difference in mind when comparing how consistently your Ring-focused setup activates its effects.
How much Ring protection does Crash Pads provide?
Crash Pads reduces the Rings lost when you take damage. Ver. 2.0.0 weakens its ordinary-slot protection, while the Super Slot keeps its previous protection level.
| Placement | Ring-loss reduction |
|---|---|
| Ordinary slot | 30% |
| Super Slot | 50% |
The amplified version halves the Ring loss you would otherwise suffer from damage. These percentages describe protection against Ring loss, not a percentage of your total Ring count that you are guaranteed to retain.
Crash Pads costs one slot, so you can keep it as ordinary support or spend the special position on stronger protection. Its Super Slot benefit is defensive, preserving more Rings after a hit instead of directly raising Ring Engine's bonuses or lowering Ring Evolution's threshold.
Choose and save your Super Slot setup
When adapting Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Gadget builds, choose the amplified occupant by the effect you want to improve:
- Choose Ring Engine to strengthen its stat bonus and raise its speed cap while maintaining Rings.
- Choose Ring Evolution to reach its collection threshold with fewer Rings.
- Choose Crash Pads to reduce the Ring loss caused by damage more heavily.
The practical choice is between improving a Ring-powered bonus, reaching an activation threshold sooner, and protecting the Rings already held. None of these placements amplifies the other Gadgets on your plate.
You can save up to five Gadget presets and switch between them between races, including during a Grand Prix. Save your chosen arrangement so you can return to it without rebuilding the plate.
Before using a preset in Time Trial, check its Gadgets for that mode's restrictions. Gadgets marked invalid have no effect there, even when equipped.
