Denarii runs out fast in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Weapons, armor, and healing supplies all cost money, and the game's 30-day time limit means you can't afford to waste days grinding one spot repeatedly. The good news is that the best income sources shift naturally as you progress, so understanding what to prioritize at each stage keeps your purse full without eating into your limited time.

What is Denarii and why does it matter?

Denarii is the primary currency in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Every merchant in Vale Sangora accepts it, and you'll spend it constantly on weapons, armor pieces, and consumables. Running low at the wrong moment, especially heading into tougher encounters, puts you at a real disadvantage. The economy scales with your progression, so the methods that work in the prologue stop being efficient by midgame.

How to earn Denarii in the early game

The first few days in Laslea Glen and the surrounding area don't offer anything exotic. Your best approach is simple: loot everything and sell what you don't need.

Whenever you visit a merchant, hit the Sell All Junk option. This clears low-value clutter instantly and converts it directly into Denarii. Gear follows a color-coded rarity system from green upward, so any piece that sits below your current loadout is worth offloading rather than letting it take up inventory space.

The other thing worth watching is the Trade Goods tab in Coen's inventory. These items look like junk but sell for noticeably more than standard clutter. They turn up in chests and on enemy bodies throughout Vale Sangora, and they're easy to miss if you're not checking that inventory section regularly. Sell them whenever you're at a merchant rather than holding onto them.

Before triggering certain main story objectives, you also have a window to roam freely and build up a Denarii reserve. Spending that time looting containers and selling the results gives you a comfortable buffer for early purchases. Understanding how the 30-day time system works helps you plan exactly when to do this without burning through precious time segments.

How to earn Denarii in the midgame

Once you've pushed further into the story, Silver becomes the most valuable income source available. Silver items are identifiable by the White Chalice tag in your inventory. Unlike ordinary loot, Silver is treated as contraband under Vrakhiri rule, which means standard merchants won't touch it.

How do you unlock the Silver Trader?

The only vendor who buys Silver is the Silver Trader, located in Svartrau City in the southwest corner of the Neustadt District. Getting access to him requires two things.

First, complete the Into the Den side quest, which starts east of the Northern Foothill near Laslea. The quest involves tracking down a ravenous bear and investigating the scene. Finishing it gives you the information needed to confront the Silver Trader. Skipping straight to Svartrau without completing this quest doesn't work; the trader will refuse to deal with Coen.

Second, you need to reach at least Infamy Level 4 (Notorious). This can be earned by completing Court Activities. Once Coen is Notorious, the Silver Trader recognizes him and opens up his shop even if you haven't completed Into the Den yet, so that's an alternative path if you'd rather not backtrack to Laslea.

When you do reach him, tell the Silver Trader that you know he's dealing in silver. He'll agree to trade, and the payout is significantly higher than anything you'd get from standard junk.

The Smuggler trophy connection

Selling Silver also contributes to the Smuggler trophy, which requires earning 1,000 Denarii specifically through Silver sales. If you're going for full completion, the Silver Trader is a two-for-one: income and achievement progress at the same time.

This pairs well with knowing how to find Manuals fast since both involve thorough exploration of Vale Sangora's locations.

How to earn Denarii in the endgame

By the time Coen's gear is mostly Legendary, purple-tier drops from enemies become redundant for your own build. That's actually a good thing for your wallet. High-level soldier and bandit camps drop purple gear consistently, and since you won't be equipping it, all of it goes straight to merchants.

These camps also yield higher quantities of Silver items compared to earlier areas, so clearing them serves double duty: combat experience and sellable loot. Rather than farming a single location repeatedly, the better approach is to clear these camps as you encounter them naturally while working through your remaining days. The time pressure of the 30-day structure means efficient looting on the move beats stationary grinding every time.

Quick tips to maximize your Denarii

  • Always check the Trade Goods tab before leaving any looted area. These items are easy to overlook and consistently worth more than standard junk.
  • Use Sell All Junk at every merchant visit. There's no reason to hold onto low-value items.
  • Sell any gear tier below your current equipment. Holding onto outdated pieces wastes inventory space and Denarii potential.
  • Stockpile Silver before making the trip to Svartrau. Selling in bulk is more time-efficient than making multiple short trips.
  • Protect the Silver Trader. He's the only one in the game who buys Silver, and losing him is permanent for that playthrough.
