The Blood of Dawnwalker Review
8/10
The Blood of Dawnwalker is the vampire RPG that the genre has needed for a long time. Rebel Wolves took real risks with the time mechanic and a more focused world, and those bets mostly paid off. The story is mature and well-written, the combat rewards attention, and Vale Sangora feels like a place worth exploring rather than a checklist to clear. The frustrations are real but contained. Spending time to unlock skills is a design decision that works against the player, the inventory UI needs a proper pass, and the skill book system is a minor but persistent annoyance. None of it is enough to undo how good the rest of the game is. If you've been waiting for something to fill the gap left by Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, this is the closest anything has come in years. It's not a Witcher 3 clone, it's not a nostalgia trip, and it's not trying to be either. It's something Rebel Wolves built themselves, and that counts for a lot.

Pros
Strong story with genuine moral weight and memorable characters
Combat blends swordplay and vampire abilities in a satisfying way
Day and night cycle creates real variety in quests and abilities
Meaningful decisions that visibly shape the world and narrative
Side quests with depth, not just filler content
Cons
Spending time segments to unlock skills feels like a punishment
Inventory UI makes gear comparison unnecessarily tedious
Skill book system adds friction where there should be none
Some smaller systems feel undercooked compared to the core experience
