Chick-Chan is the boss encounter at the end of the Fate of the Prophets mission in Windrose, a late-game quest that sends you deep into the Cursed Swamps region. Because Windrose uses procedural map generation, there is no fixed coordinate for this fight. The only reliable way to reach Chick-Chan is by tracking the Fate of the Prophets mission through your Journal, which will point you to the correct open-field location once the quest is active.
The boss itself is a level 15, one-star swamp monstrosity built from roots, flowers, and mud. That one-star designation matters: it signals a significantly stronger variant of a standard enemy, with a large health bar and six shields that you need to strip before you can deal serious damage. Both its ranged and melee attacks can knock you back and leave you stunned, so this is not a fight you want to stumble into unprepared.
How to defeat Chick-Chan in Windrose

Step 1: Use the open arena to your advantage
The fight takes place on a large open mound, which is one of the most player-friendly boss arenas in the game. There are no tight corners forcing you into attacks. Keep moving constantly. Chick-Chan's attacks are dangerous, but they are not fast enough to catch a player who stays mobile across the full width of the arena.
Step 2: Watch for the ground slam
Chick-Chan's most punishing move is its ground slam. Getting hit by this leaves you stunned for an extended period, during which the boss can follow up with additional damage. Learn the wind-up animation and sidestep or sprint away before it lands. Standing still at any point during this fight is a mistake.
The ground slam stun duration is long enough for Chick-Chan to land a follow-up hit while you are helpless. Dodge the moment you see the slam animation begin.
Step 3: Dodge the rock throws by running
Chick-Chan's ranged attack involves throwing large rocks. The simplest counter is to keep running rather than attempting a timed dodge roll. Because the projectiles travel in a straight line, lateral movement is enough to avoid them entirely. This is why entering the fight with a healthy Stamina bar is recommended: you will be sprinting and dodging frequently throughout the encounter.
Step 4: Destroy the two bulbs with your gun
This is the most important mechanical step in the fight. Use your gun to target and destroy the two bulbous growths on Chick-Chan's body. The first is on the left shoulder and the second is on its back. Hitting these reduces the boss's shield count. Once all six shields are gone, Chick-Chan falls to the ground, giving you a free window to unload your heaviest attacks.
Prioritize the bulbs over direct body damage. Stripping the shields and triggering the knockdown state is far more efficient than chipping away at the health bar while shields are still active.
Step 5: Survive the death blast
Here is the part that catches players off guard: when Chick-Chan dies, it releases a large area-of-effect damage blast around its body. If you are standing close to finish it off, this can kill you even with decent health remaining. As Chick-Chan's health gets low, create distance. Either use your gun to land the killing blow from range, or sprint away the moment the death animation begins.
