Windrose Crafting Guide: All Stations ...

The Marksman's Rig sits at A-Tier in Windrose's armor rankings, and it earns that spot through two bonuses that stay useful from mid-game all the way through end-game content. The 2-piece stamina reduction alone is worth chasing, and the 4-piece ranged damage buff turns any firearm build into something genuinely threatening. Here's exactly how to get every piece and what to do with them once you do.

What bonuses does the Marksman's Rig give?

The full Marksman's Rig consists of five pieces: the Marksman's Tricorne, Marksman's Doublet, Marksman's Gloves, Marksman's Pants, and Marksman's Boots. You don't need all five to start benefiting from the set.

Stamina management is one of the most punishing systems in Windrose, so the 2-piece bonus has real value even if you never push for the full set. The 4-piece ranged damage bonus pairs particularly well with firearms like the Reliable Musket and the Dragon's Breath Blunderbuss.

info
If a loot drop doesn't explicitly say "Marksman" in its name, it is not part of this A-Tier set. Generic armor pieces with similar names won't contribute to the set bonuses.

How to get the Marksman's Tricorne, Gloves, and Boots

Three of the five pieces, the Tricorne, Gloves, and Boots, come exclusively from chest loot. You can't craft or buy these, so you'll be opening containers until they drop. The chest types that can contain these pieces are listed below.

These three pieces share the same loot pool across all seven chest types. There's no single guaranteed source, so prioritizing high-density chest routes during exploration is the most efficient approach.

warning
Don't skip Decrepit Chests and Old Skeletons while exploring. They're easy to ignore, but they share the same loot table as the named faction chests for these three pieces.

How to get the Marksman's Doublet and Pants

The Doublet and Pants follow a different acquisition path entirely. Both pieces are craftable once you learn their recipes, and those recipes come from a specific vendor.

You need to reach Reputation Level 2 with the People of Tortuga faction. Once you hit that threshold, their Provisioner sells two crafting plans:

  • Plans: Marksman's Doublet — 200 (faction currency)
  • Plans: Marksman's Pants — 200 (faction currency)

Level 1 recipes use basic materials like coarse fabric and rough hide. Upgrading to Level 2 requires higher-tier materials: linen fabric, tanned leather, and sewing tools. Crafting at the Armor and Clothing Workshop is the most reliable way to secure these two pieces without depending on RNG.

The Brethren of the Coast faction is also tied to this set, though the People of Tortuga Provisioner is the confirmed source for the crafting plans.

info
Reaching Reputation Level 2 with People of Tortuga unlocks both Doublet and Pants plans at the same time. Prioritize this faction grind early so you can craft both pieces as soon as you have the materials.

What's the best way to use the Marksman's Rig?

Running all four pieces for the full ranged damage bonus is the obvious choice for dedicated gunner builds, but the 2-piece stamina bonus opens up some genuinely effective hybrid options.

Hybrid build options worth trying:

  • Marksman 2-piece + Flibustier 2-piece: The Marksman stamina reduction (30%) stacks alongside the Flibustier set's attack stamina reduction (20%), letting you dodge and strike repeatedly without burning through your stamina bar.
  • Marksman 2-piece + Pikeman 2-piece: Pikeman armor grants a 15% bonus to two-handed weapon damage, but heavy weapons drain stamina fast. The Marksman 2-piece covers that weakness, letting you land Greatsword or Halberd hits and still have the stamina to dash clear afterward.

Is the Marksman's Rig worth the grind?

For ranged-focused players, yes, without much debate. The 4-piece bonus is a flat 15% damage increase to all ranged weapons, which compounds with talent bonuses and weapon upgrades. The 2-piece stamina reduction is strong enough that even melee and hybrid builds should consider running two Marksman pieces as a base.

The acquisition path is also more forgiving than most A-Tier sets. Two pieces come from craftable recipes tied to a straightforward faction grind, and the remaining three drop from a wide variety of chest types rather than a single difficult source.
