One of the best zones in the game. Dun Morogh is "Warcraft" to me. The music, the atmosphere, the mountains. It's a zone that feels so cozy and grand at the same

The short version of this WoW Forever Dun Morogh guide: dwarves and gnomes quest here from 1 to 12. Coldridge Valley covers 1 to 6, Kharanos and Brewnall Village carry 6 to 10, the eastern outposts finish 10 to 12, and then you leave for Loch Modan or queue for Hall of Thanes at 13. Dun Morogh has no flight master of its own, so your first gryphon waits in Ironforge.

In World of Warcraft Forever leveling, experience moved away from dungeon mobs and into quests, so every chain you skip here hurts more than it did in 2004. The route below is the Classic Anniversary quest data rebuilt for the Forever run. The beta opened September 17 with a level cap of 20, launch is November 4, and any new Forever quest you spot beside a familiar road stacks on top of this route. Take it.

How to Get In: Travel, Flight Paths and Coordinates

Dwarves and gnomes spawn at Anvilmar. Everyone else enters through the Ironforge front gate, which opens straight onto the Kharanos road. Coordinates use each zone's own map.

tip
Grab the Ironforge flight path the moment the Frostmane chain sends you there. The tram is the only free teleport the Alliance will ever get, so use it.

Level Range: When to Arrive, When to Leave

As the WoW Forever dwarf starting zone, Dun Morogh expects you at level 1 and wants you gone by 12. Staying longer means grinding grey mobs for pocket change, and Forever pays for quests, not for patience.

Class Letters and Trainers

At level 1, Sten Stoutarm hands every class a letter to its trainer inside Anvilmar. Gnomes share every quest with dwarves except that letter, and in the WoW Forever gnome starting zone Sten writes memorandums instead of runes. Class quests are Classic data, and Forever reworked the classes themselves, so expect tweaks to rewards, not to the walking.

Early follow-ups stay in Anvilmar and the level 10 ones sit in Kharanos. Warlocks get Beginnings at 4 from Alamar Grimm, priests get In Favor of the Light at 5, and at 10 warriors take Muren Stormpike from Granis Swiftaxe, rogues take Road to Salvation from Hogral Bakkan, mages take Speak with Bink from Magis Sparkmantle, and hunters take Taming the Beast from Grif Wildheart. Paladins wait until 12 for Tome of Divinity from Azar Stronghammer.

Dwarf Shaman and Gnome Priest are new Forever combinations, and public data does not yet name their opening letter. WoW Forever dwarf shaman leveling follows the same quest route anyway , the trainer is the only open question, and any Anvilmar guard will point at it.

Coldridge Valley Route, Levels 1 to 6

The WoW Forever Coldridge Valley loop is tight: one camp, one cave, one tunnel. Follow the order and you walk out at level 6 with a shield or staff and a pocket full of wolf meat.

  • Accept Dwarven Outfitters from Sten Stoutarm at 29.9, 71.2 and kill Ragged Young Wolves south of Anvilmar for eight Tough Wolf Meat.
  • Turn it in, then take A New Threat from Balir Frosthammer at 29.7, 71.2 and Coldridge Valley Mail Delivery from Sten.
  • Deliver your class letter inside Anvilmar and take A Refugee's Quandary from Felix Whindlebolt at 28.6, 67.6 once you reach level 3.
  • Kill Rockjaw Troggs and Burly Rockjaw Troggs around the valley and turn in A New Threat.
  • Walk west to Talin Keeneye at 22.6, 71.4, deliver the mail and take The Boar Hunter plus the second Coldridge Valley Mail Delivery.
  • Kill twelve Small Crag Boars behind Talin, turn in, and loot Felix's Box at 20.9, 76.1 on the way south.
  • Hand the letter to Grelin Whitebeard at 25.1, 75.7 and take The Troll Cave.
  • Kill fourteen Frostmane Troll Whelps around 20.8, 75.9 and grab Felix's Chest at 22.8, 80.0 and Felix's Bucket of Bolts at 26.3, 79.3.
  • Turn in The Troll Cave, take The Stolen Journal and kill Grik'nir the Cold at 30.5, 80.2 for the journal and a shot at Frostmane Chain Vest.
  • Choose Dwarven Kite Shield or Smooth Walking Staff from Grelin and take Senir's Observations.
  • Take Scalding Mornbrew Delivery from Nori Pridedrift at 25.0, 76.0 and sprint to Durnan Furcutter at 28.8, 66.4 before the five-minute timer kills your tea.
  • Turn in Felix's crates at Anvilmar, train, and hand Senir's Observations to Mountaineer Thalos at 33.5, 71.8 for the second part.
  • Take Supplies to Tannok from Hands Springsprocket at 33.9, 72.2 and walk through the tunnel.

Kharanos and Brewnall Village, Levels 6 to 10

Kharanos is the hub where the zone stops holding your hand. The WoW Forever Kharanos quests split into three chains , the depot pilots, the Barleybrew feud, and the Frostmane trolls , and the trick is to hold all three at once so you never walk the same road twice.

  • Turn in Senir's Observations to Senir Whitebeard at 46.7, 53.8 and Supplies to Tannok to Tannok Frosthammer at 47.2, 52.2, then bind at Innkeeper Belm.
  • Take Beer Basted Boar Ribs from Ragnar Thunderbrew at 46.8, 52.4 and buy one Rhapsody Malt from Belm.
  • Take Tools for Steelgrill from Tharek Blackstone at 46.0, 51.7 and Operation Recombobulation from Razzle Sprysprocket at 45.9, 49.4.
  • At Steelgrill's Depot give the tools to Beldin Steelgrill at 50.4, 49.1 and take Stocking Jetsteam from Pilot Bellowfiz at 49.4, 48.4, The Grizzled Den from Pilot Stonegear at 49.6, 48.6 and Ammo for Rumbleshot from Loslor Rudge at 50.1, 49.4.
  • Kill Crag Boars and Young Black Bears between Kharanos and the depot for Crag Boar Ribs, Chunks of Boar Meat and Thick Bear Fur.
  • Turn in Stocking Jetsteam for Evershine and hand the ribs to Ragnar.
  • Collect eight Wendigo Manes from Wendigos in the Grizzled Den around 40, 48.
  • Loot Rumbleshot's Ammo from the crate at 44.1, 57.0 and deliver it to Hegnar Rumbleshot at 40.7, 65.1.
  • In Brewnall Village at 30.2, 45.6 give Evershine to Rejold Barleybrew for A Favor for Evershine, then take Bitter Rivals from Marleth Barleybrew and The Perfect Stout from Rejold.
  • Kill Frostmane Seers on Shimmer Ridge around 41, 42 for six Shimmerweed, then Leper Gnomes around 27.6, 36.4 for Operation Recombobulation.
  • Kill six Ice Claw Bears, eight Elder Crag Boars and eight Snow Leopards for A Favor for Evershine.
  • In the Kharanos inn basement click the barrel at 47.7, 52.7 for Guarded Thunderbrew Barrel, take Distracting Jarven from Jarven Thunderbrew, and hand him a Thunder Ale from Belm.
  • Swap the now unguarded barrel to complete Bitter Rivals and carry Return to Marleth back west.
  • In Brewnall turn in the stout, the favor and Marleth's barrel, then take Shimmer Stout and Return to Bellowfiz.
  • Turn in Operation Recombobulation to Razzle, take Frostmane Hold from Senir and kill five Frostmane Headhunters around 24, 51.
  • Turn in Frostmane Hold and carry The Reports to Senator Barin Redstone in Ironforge, grabbing the flight path on the way.

Eastern Outposts, Levels 10 to 12

The east side is short, violent and full of named mobs. Arrive at 10, leave at 12, and deliver the stout last because it is your ticket out.

  • On the way east give the Wendigo Manes to Pilot Stonegear and the Evershine cask to Pilot Bellowfiz for Gnarled Short Staff, Sharp Axe or Camping Knife.
  • Take Protecting the Herd from Rudra Amberstill at 63.1, 49.9 on Amberstill Ranch.
  • Take Those Blasted Troggs! from Foreman Stonebrow at 69.1, 56.3 and The Public Servant from Senator Mehr Stonehallow at 68.7, 56.0 at Gol'Bolar Quarry.
  • Kill Rockjaw Skullthumpers and Rockjaw Bonesnappers in the quarry and turn both in.
  • Take The Lost Pilot from Pilot Hammerfoot at 83.9, 39.2 and find the corpse at 79.7, 36.2 for Siege Brigade Vest.
  • Take A Pilot's Revenge from the corpse, kill Mangeclaw at 78.3, 37.8 and bring his Mangy Claw back to Hammerfoot.
  • Deliver Shimmer Stout to Mountaineer Barleybrew at 86.3, 48.8 and take Stout to Kadrell into Loch Modan.

Quest Hubs and Breadcrumbs

Pilot Stonegear also hands out Stonegear's Search and Search for Incendicite later, but those are level 22 and 23 tasks. Come back through the gate when you are old enough to vote.

Elite and Group Quests: Do Them or Skip Them

Loading table...

Tundra MacGrann waits at 34.6, 51.6, and his MacGrann's Dried Meats sit in a locker right next to the elite yeti.

warning
Vagash and Old Icebeard are level 11 elites parked on top of quest objectives. Pet classes can handle them at 12, but everyone else should bring a second player or walk away. Forever pays well for both quests, but not well enough to cover a corpse run.

What to Skip

  • Skip Bring Back the Mug unless you are short on XP , the mug trip is pure backtracking.
  • Skip Rejold's New Brew because The Perfect Stout already covers the same chain.
  • Skip Frost Ram Exchange, Black Ram Exchange, Icy Blue Mechanostrider Replacement and White Mechanostrider Replacement , they are level 60 mount swaps.
  • Skip Gnogaine from Ozzie Togglevolt in Kharanos until you are ready for Gnomeregan at 27.
  • Skip Stonegear's Search and Search for Incendicite until your twenties.

Best Quest Rewards and Zone Drops Worth Keeping

Quest rewards below are the Classic baseline. Blizzard is reworking itemization in Forever, so names may shift, but the slot upgrades land at the same levels.

Loading table...

For farming, Frostmane trolls and Leper Gnomes drop Linen Cloth, wolves, bears and boars give Light Leather to skinners, and the hills around Kharanos and Gol'Bolar hold Copper Ore next to Silverleaf, Peacebloom and Earthroot. Forever's campfires let each player place one profession object, up to three per fire, so gatherers who skipped professions will be sitting in the cold.

Rares, Farm Spots and Named Mobs

The Dun Morogh rares in WoW Forever are low-level trophies, not loot pinatas. Kill them because they walk into you, not because you camp them.

Loading table...

For plain farming, the Leper Gnome field near the Gnomeregan entrance and the trogg quarry give the densest packs. Both respawn fast enough to punish anyone who reads quest text in the middle of them.

Where to Go Next

The standard WoW Forever Alliance leveling route leaves through the eastern gate into Loch Modan for 10 to 20, with Thelsamar as the new home. The WoW Forever Hall of Thanes level band is 13 to 18, and the dungeon sits beneath Ironforge, so it fits right after your first Loch Modan run.

Blizzard cut mob XP inside dungeons and moved most of it into dungeon quest chains, so run Hall of Thanes with its quests in your log or not at all. After Loch Modan the Alliance road goes Westfall or Wetlands, and Forever's Excavation Site: Wetlands waits at 24 to 29.

Lore: Why Everyone Here Hates Everyone Else

Forever is set in the first year after Warcraft III, before Molten Core, and Dun Morogh still carries that raw post-war mood. The Frostmane trolls held these peaks before the dwarves carved Ironforge, and they have not forgiven the rent.

The Leper Gnomes near the Gnomeregan entrance are what is left of Gnomeregan after the troggs and the radiation. The Thunderbrew and Barleybrew families fight their own war with barrels, and Hall of Thanes adds the Dark Iron dwarves infiltrating the tombs of the old kings. Nobody here is having a good year.
