This WoW Forever Wetlands guide in one breath: arrive at level 20, bind in Menethil Harbor, run the old Wetlands chains to 28, clear the new Excavation Site dungeon once between 24 and 29, then leave for Arathi Highlands or points south. The zone pays well and kills generously.

Blizzard confirmed that the World of Warcraft Forever Wetlands gets over 25 new quests and a new leveling path built on characters already living there. Names and IDs of those quests are not public yet, so this route runs on the classic backbone, which Blizzard says it expanded without disrupting.

What Forever Changes in the Wetlands

How to Get In: Roads, Boats, Flight Paths

Three entrances, all of them survivable if you stay on the road. The WoW Forever ship routes add Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine and a three-stop Menethil, Southshore, Auberdine line, which turns the legendary low-level corpse run into a nostalgia option.

  • From Loch Modan, take the road north through the Dun Algaz tunnel, which opens into the Wetlands near 54, 71.
  • Follow the road to Einar Stonegrip at the crossroads (49.9, 39.4), then west to Menethil Harbor.
  • From Arathi Highlands you cross the broken Thandol Span south and land at Dun Modr among Dark Iron dwarves.
  • The original boats run to Theramore in Dustwallow Marsh and Auberdine in Darkshore.
  • Talk to Shellei Brondir first; the Menethil flight path links to Ironforge, Thelsamar and Refuge Pointe.
  • Horde gets no town and no flight master here, and the nearest Horde flight point is Hammerfall in Arathi.

WoW Forever Menethil Harbor stays the only hub that matters: inn, flight path, docks and most quest givers inside a one-minute walk. Set your hearth there and never regret it.

Level Range: When to Come, When to Leave

WoW Forever Alliance leveling treats this zone as a 20 to 30 bracket, same as 2004. Come at 20, leave at 28 to 30, and split the middle with Duskwood or Ashenvale if quests go grey or red.

Optimal Quest Order

The WoW Forever Wetlands quests below are the proven classic spine. Slot any new Forever quest in when its giver stands next to one of these, because walking back later is how evenings die.

  • Take The Greenwarden from Fitzsimmons and Claws from the Deep from Karl Boran, then bind at Innkeeper Helbrek.
  • Kill Gobbler at 18, 40 and 12 Bluegill Murlocs north of town.
  • Take Daily Delivery from Einar at the crossroads and sell junk to Kixxle.
  • Turn in The Greenwarden to Rethiel at 56.4, 40.4 and take Tramping Paws.
  • Kill 15 Mosshide Gnolls and 10 Mosshide Mongrels around 61, 70, then take Fire Taboo.
  • Kill Mosshide Fenrunners around 61, 58 for 9 Crude Flint, then take Blisters on the Land.
  • Hearth, turn in Claws from the Deep and Daily Delivery, and take Reclaiming Goods and Young Crocolisk Skins.
  • Collect The Third Fleet, Digging Through the Ooze, Fall of Dun Modr, War Banners and In Search of The Excavation Team.
  • Kill Young Wetlands Crocolisks for 4 Young Crocolisk Skin, turn in and take Apprentice's Duties.
  • Loot the three murloc hovel containers for Reclaiming Goods, The Search Continues, Search More Hovels and Return the Statuette.
  • Kill Giant Wetlands Crocolisks for 6 Giant Crocolisk Skin and 12 Fen Creepers, which are stealthed and audible before visible.
  • Kill oozes at Ironbeard's Tomb for Sida's Bag; Crimson Oozes drop it most.
  • Turn in Fall of Dun Modr to Longbraid, then Blisters on the Land to Rethiel.
  • Kill Dragonmaw at Angerfang Encampment for 8 Dragonmaw War Banners.
  • Cross the mountain to Whelgar's Excavation, take Ormer's Revenge and Uncovering the Past, and turn in In Search of The Excavation Team for In Search of The Excavation Team.
  • Kill 10 Mottled Raptors and 10 Screechers; raptors also drop Stone of Relu at a miserable rate.
  • Loot Flagongut's Fossil at Whelgar's for the Prospector chain.
  • Return to Menethil, turn everything in, and take Nek'rosh's Gambit and Lifting the Curse.
  • Loot the four relics for Uncovering the Past, kill 10 Mottled Scytheclaws and 10 Razormaws for Ormer's Revenge.
  • Kill Sarltooth for Sarltooth's Talon and finish Ormer's Revenge.
  • Loot the Dragonmaw Catapult at 47.5, 47.0 and take Defeat Nek'rosh.
  • With a partner, kill Chieftain Nek'rosh for Nek'rosh's Head and Captain Halyndor for Lifting the Curse.
  • Turn The Eye of Paleth in to Glorin Steelbrow and carry Cleansing the Eye to Archbishop Benedictus in Stormwind.
tip
Forever's new Wetlands quests are not in public databases yet. Blizzard stated the additions build on existing characters without disrupting what exists, so every classic step above should survive launch. Pick up new givers when they appear next to old ones, and do not reroute the whole zone around rumors.

Skip list: The Dark Iron War if you are leaving at 28 anyway, the Stone of Relu grind if RNG hates you, and anything elite if your party is you.

The Excavation Site Dungeon

The WoW Forever Excavation Site is a new 24 to 29 dungeon above Whelgar's Excavation: errant titan constructs, mist rolling down from the mountains and flashing lights on the horizon, with the Explorers' League curious. Boss list, party size and loot are unpublished.

Forever cut dungeon mob XP and raised dungeon quest XP, so the correct play is one clear with every related quest in the log. Unique boss items are now blue quality. The WoW Forever beta is the only place to test it before launch on November 4, 2026, and the final in-client name may still change.

warning
Because dungeon mob XP has been reduced, farming the Excavation Site repeatedly is inefficient. Run it once with a full quest log and move on.

Best Quest Rewards and Drops Worth Keeping

Mosshide gnolls drop wool for First Aid, Liferoot grows along the water for herbalists, and the Thelgen Rock cave carries tin and incendicite for miners.

Rares, Farm Spots and Lore

The WoW Forever rare spawns are classic ones until Blizzard says otherwise, and none of them drop anything that justifies camping at 25. Kill them when they wander into your quest path.

Also on the scan list: Gnawbone, Mirelow, Sludginn and Garneg Charskull. For XP farming, the Bluegill camps north of Menethil and the crocolisk fields near the windmill respawn fast enough to grind between turn-ins.

Lore in thirty seconds: The Dragonmaw clan once held the red Dragonqueen Alexstrasza in Grim Batol until Rhonin's band freed her, and the red dragonflight still guards the gates. The Dark Irons blew up the Thandol Span and Dun Modr fell soon after. Forever sets all of this in Year 1 and teases Grim Batol as an open mystery.

Where to Go Next

Any WoW Forever leveling guide worth reading sends you out at 28 to 30: Duskwood, Hillsbrad by the new boat, Ashenvale, or north over the Thandol Span into Arathi. At 35 the new Riverglades opens off the Burning Steppes road and the Tanaris boat to Powderfuse Port.

Gnomes and dwarves coming from Dun Morogh walk in through Loch Modan; everyone else arrives by sea.
