Who is Cissia and why should you pull her?
Cissia is an S-Rank Electric Attack agent from the Metropolitan Order Division who arrived in Zenless Zone Zero during Version 2.7 (April 15 to May 5, 2026). Her kit revolves around accumulating Venom stacks to fuel a powerful charged Basic Attack, applying the Corrode Bone debuff, and passively shredding enemy Electric DEF for the entire squad. She works as either a sub-DPS or main DPS, and her Additional Ability grants up to 40% CRIT DMG to all teammates when a Stun or same-attribute character is on the team. That alone makes her worth considering for any mono-Electric setup.
How does Cissia's kit actually work?
Everything Cissia does connects back to Venom. She enters each battle with 3 Venom points and can hold up to 6. Venom drains automatically at 1 point every 5 seconds while she is on-field, each drain triggering Corrode Bone, which deals Electric DMG equal to 335% of ATK at max Core Skill level (according to Game8's skill data) and stacks CRIT Rate by 6% per trigger, up to 3 stacks for 18% total. Excess Venom beyond 6 also triggers Corrode Bone immediately.
Her charged Basic Attack, Serpent's Kiss, consumes all current Venom at once for a burst of Electric hits and a Quick Assist trigger. To use it, she needs at least 1 stack of Serpentine Shadow, which she earns for every 6 Venom accumulated. She can hold up to 3 Serpentine Shadow stacks.
Venom generation comes from several sources:
- Entering combat: 3 Venom
- 4th hit of Basic Attack combo: 2 Venom (plus 1 more if the target is stunned)
- EX Special Attack (tap): 3 Venom
- EX Special Attack (hold, per 20 Energy consumed): 1 Venom each
- Chain Attack or Ultimate: 3 Venom each
Her Ultimate, Ophidiophobia, also activates Ether Veil: Cold-Blooded for 30 seconds, granting all squad members 5% CRIT DMG. Stack that with her Additional Ability's 40% CRIT DMG buff and the numbers add up fast.
danger
Cissia's Core Passive DEF ignore scales with Energy Regen. Once her initial Energy Regen exceeds 1.4, every additional 0.12 ER above that threshold adds 1% Electric DEF ignore, capping at 25% total. Hitting that cap requires her signature W-Engine, a 2-piece Energy Regen Drive Disc set, and an Energy Regen Slot 6 disc, per Icy Veins' stat analysis.
What is the best W-Engine for Cissia?
Serpentine Seeker is the clear best-in-slot. As Cissia's signature S-Rank weapon, it provides 25% CRIT Rate and a stacking Electric DEF ignore buff that triggers whenever she consumes at least 20 Energy. Each 20 Energy consumed adds 3 seconds to the buff duration, up to 30 seconds total. Entering combat automatically grants 10 seconds of the effect, and the timer pauses while she is off-field. The Energy Regen sub-stat directly feeds her Core Passive DEF ignore scaling, which is why no other weapon matches it for overall team value.
According to Icy Veins' damage calculations in a Seed, Cissia, Trigger team, Serpentine Seeker P1 produces 272,095 DPS, which is 111.16% of the A-Rank baseline.
W-Engine tier comparison
The gap between Cissia's signature and a maxed Drill Rig - Red Axis is about 11%. That is meaningful but not catastrophic, especially since Drill Rig is the only A-Rank weapon with an Energy Regen sub-stat, which is the most important secondary attribute for Cissia's kit. If you are playing in a Seed-focused team where Seed handles roughly 80% of the team's damage output, investing in Seed's Cordis Germina first may return more total DPS than chasing Serpentine Seeker, as noted by Icy Veins.
Bellicose Blaze also carries an Energy Regen sub-stat, making it Cissia's second-best overall option among S-Rank weapons. Cordis Germina is solid for personal damage through its Electric DMG stacking and DEF ignore at 2 stacks. Severed Innocence and other S-Rank weapons function as stat sticks but generally fall slightly below a P1 Drill Rig.
info
Even when running Cissia as main DPS, always use an Energy Regen Slot 6 Drive Disc. The DEF ignore scaling from her Core Passive is too valuable to sacrifice for raw ATK.
What are the best Drive Discs for Cissia?
Primary set: Dawn's Bloom (4-piece) + Swing Jazz (2-piece)
This is the standard recommendation across sources. Dawn's Bloom directly buffs Basic Attack DMG by 15% at 2 pieces and an additional 20% at 4 pieces. Using an EX Special or Ultimate resets and extends that 4-piece bonus for 25 seconds. Since Cissia's Serpent's Kiss and Corrode Bone both count as Basic Attack damage, the set amplifies her two biggest damage sources simultaneously.
The Swing Jazz 2-piece adds 20% Energy Regen, which pushes Cissia closer to her Core Passive DEF ignore threshold. Moonlight Lullaby provides the same 20% Energy Regen bonus and works as an equivalent alternative.
Situational alternative: Astral Voice (4-piece)
According to Icy Veins' testing, Astral Voice edges ahead of Dawn's Bloom for total team DPS specifically when Astra Yao is in the squad. Astra generates frequent Quick Assists that consistently stack Astral Voice's 8%-per-stack DMG buff (up to 3 stacks), and Cissia equipping Astral Voice frees Astra to run Moonlight Lullaby instead. In a Cissia, Seed, Astra Yao team, Astral Voice produced 105.77% of the Dawn's Bloom baseline. Outside of that specific team, Dawn's Bloom is the safer pick.
Drive Disc main stat priority
Substats to target: CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK%, Flat ATK. Icy Veins notes that Corrode Bone's self-stacking CRIT Rate buff means Cissia's ideal base CRIT Rate sits around 76% before those stacks apply.
What is the best skill upgrade order for Cissia?
All sources agree on the same priority:
- Core Skill (highest priority, unlocks Fatal Concoction passive and DEF ignore scaling)
- Basic Attack (primary damage source through Serpent's Kiss and Corrode Bone)
- Special Attack (EX Special is the main Venom generation tool)
- Chain Attack (strong damage and Venom generation during stun windows)
- Dodge and Assist (low impact, upgrade last)
Core Skill upgrades also incrementally raise Cissia's base Energy Regen and ATK. Each level alternates between +0.12 Energy Regen and +25 ATK, totaling +0.36 Energy Regen and +75 ATK at full upgrade according to Game8.
How should you play Cissia in combat?
Basic rotation loop
Cissia's loop is straightforward once you internalize the Venom economy:
- Open with her Basic Attack combo to generate Energy and Venom (4th hit grants 2 Venom)
- Hold EX Special Attack to dump Energy and load up on Venom (3 base plus 1 per 20 additional Energy consumed)
- Hold Basic Attack with Serpentine Shadow stacked to fire Serpent's Kiss, consuming all Venom and triggering Corrode Bone
- Quick Assist to your main DPS after Serpent's Kiss
- Repeat, saving Chain Attack and Ultimate for stun windows
Playing Cissia as sub-DPS alongside Seed
In the Seed, Cissia, Trigger team, Cissia's primary job off-field is maintaining Venom so Corrode Bone and the DEF ignore buff stay active. During stun windows, the rotation per Icy Veins goes:
- Enter stun with Seed's Enhanced Basic Attack
- Switch to Cissia, hold Basic Attack to consume Venom
- Hold EX Special to drain all Energy
- Switch to Seed for Ultimate
- Cancel Chain window, use Seed Enhanced Basic Attack
- Switch to Cissia for Ultimate
- Hold Basic Attack to consume Venom, Quick Assist to Seed
- Use Cissia's Chain Attack in the resulting Chain window
warning
Do not skip the EX Special hold during stun windows. Tapping it only grants 3 Venom, while holding it to consume 60 additional Energy grants up to 3 more Venom on top, maximizing Corrode Bone procs during the damage window.

What are the best teams for Cissia?
Recommended team compositions
Trigger is Cissia's best stun partner because she applies the Stun DMG Multiplier and fulfills Cissia's Additional Ability condition for the 40% CRIT DMG buff. Dialyn works as an alternative stunner whose kit helps maintain Cissia's Ether Veil uptime and Venom regeneration. Qingyi is another fast-paced stunner option.
For support, Astra Yao is the premium pick. Rina is a strong accessible alternative since her PEN Ratio buff stacks with Cissia's DEF ignore, amplifying the team's Electric damage further.
In the F2P budget team, Anby satisfies Cissia's Additional Ability requirement as a second Electric character while also building Daze, and Nicole shreds enemy DEF and buffs the whole squad.
Should you pull Cissia's Mindscape Cinemas?
Mindscape Cinemas require duplicate pulls, so the value calculation matters. Based on Icy Veins' team DPS testing with Cissia, Seed, and Trigger:
M1 (Traveler and Prey) is the best stopping point for most players. It increases starting Venom to 6, boosts the Core Passive DEF ignore to 140% of its original value, and grants all squad members 5% Electric RES ignore with Corrode Bone ignoring an additional 10%. That is a genuine team-wide upgrade.
M2 (Hunger and Hard Truths) is the next meaningful jump, adding 35% DMG to Serpent's Kiss and granting 3 extra Venom after hitting a stunned enemy with an Ultimate or Chain Attack. If you have Polychromes to spare, M2 is a solid target.
M3 and M5 are skill level upgrades with minimal impact. M4 and M6 add more Corrode Bone instances but primarily benefit Cissia's personal damage rather than team output. Unless you are chasing maximum performance, M1 is where most players should stop.
info
If Polychromes are limited, M0 Cissia with the right W-Engine and Drive Discs already contributes significant team value through her DEF ignore and CRIT DMG buffs. Do not pull Mindscapes at the expense of building her gear.
