Version 2.7 is live and your Polychromes are on the line

Zenless Zone Zero version 2.7 dropped on March 24, 2026, and it is one of the more interesting patches in recent memory. The first half brought two brand-new S-rank agents, the second half added two more, a pair of new Drive Disc sets arrived with genuine questions about who actually wants them, and there is a full Twitch Drops event running on top of it all. This guide covers every decision you need to make before spending a single Polychrome.

Who should you pull in ZZZ 2.7?

Version 2.7 runs two phases, each with its own S-rank banners. The pull priority is not even close across the four agents, so here is the breakdown.

Phase 1: Nangong Yu and Yidhari

Nangong Yu is the standout unit of the entire patch. She is an Ether Stunner built specifically around anomaly teams, and according to the pull analysis documented by lootbar.gg, she is the only stunner in the game designed from the ground up for anomaly playstyles. Her kit does a lot of work at once: she extends stun duration by 3 seconds, raises the stun multiplier by 30%, grants 20% DMG and 50 ATK through her Ether Veil, increases anomaly buildup by 30% on stunned enemies and an additional 30% during chain attacks, boosts Abloom damage by 25%, and allows up to 2 Polarity Disorders per stun window. She also enables backswap quick assists when triggering Polarity Disorder.

If you run Aria, Miyabi, or Yanagi, Nangong Yu is a direct upgrade to your existing setup. All three of those characters benefit from longer stun windows and faster anomaly buildup, which is exactly what she provides. For most anomaly accounts, she is the safest pull in 2.7.

Yidhari is a different story. She is an Ice Rupture DPS whose damage scales with HP rather than ATK, which means she needs a completely different build compared to standard damage dealers. Her kit revolves around consuming her own HP to power up attacks while maintaining built-in damage reduction and interruption resistance. The catch is team dependency: she relies heavily on Lucia, and without Lucia plus a strong Stunner, her output drops noticeably. Supports like Astra, Zhao, and Caesar, which work for most ATK-scaling characters, do not give her the same value.

Pull Yidhari if you already have Lucia and want to build around the Rupture class. Skip her if you want a DPS that fits into a wider range of teams.

Phase 2: Cissia and Seed

Phase 2 arrived on April 15, 2026, confirmed by HoYoverse, bringing Cissia as a new S-rank and the first rerun for Seed.

Cissia is an Electric Attack agent from the Metropolitan Order Division. She enters combat with 3 Venom stacks, each dealing Electric damage while temporarily boosting her CRIT Rate. Venom dissipates over time, but she regenerates stacks through her EX Special Attack. Once stacks accumulate, she spends them through Basic Attack: Serpent's Kiss for burst damage windows. Her damage zone ability, Serpent's Eye, lets her deal consistent output without heavy setup. She is straightforward to use and fits most Electric team compositions.

The honest assessment: Cissia does not introduce anything new to the meta. She is a reliable Electric DPS for players who lack one, but easily replaceable if you already have a strong attacker. She is a situational pull.

Seed is an Electric Attack agent built for dual-DPS teams. She deals damage during short field time while buffing the primary attacker, functioning as both a damage dealer and a support. Her value is directly tied to having a second Electric DPS to pair with her, so Cissia is the obvious pairing. Without that partner, she underperforms.

Pull Seed if you want a dual-DPS Electric team and have a strong attacker to pair her with. Skip her if you prefer a single carry setup.

What are the new Drive Discs in 2.7?

Version 2.7 adds two Drive Disc sets, both farmable from the same Routine Cleanup stage. According to analysis from icy-veins.com, they serve very different purposes and have very different levels of immediate usefulness.

Bunny in Wonderland

This is the more immediately useful set. The 2-piece bonus gives HP +10%, and the 4-piece applies a teamwide DMG buff of up to 18% triggered by EX Special Attacks or defensive/evasive assists, but only for Defense-class agents.

Before this set, Defense agents were stuck running support-oriented options like Astral Voice or Swing Jazz, or the very specific Proto Punk, which only really suited shield-focused kits. Bunny in Wonderland is the first set that actually works for Defense agents broadly.

Best users, per the icy-veins.com breakdown:

  • Zhao is the clearest beneficiary. HP scaling plus easy stack generation means she gets full value from both pieces.
  • Pan Yinhu gets a reliable upgrade. He struggles to maintain Astral Voice stacks consistently, so the more accessible buff trigger is a genuine improvement.
  • Seth Lowell can use it, but you trade ATK% and stronger shields for more team damage. Worth it in support-heavy setups.
  • Caesar King is in a similar position to Seth. If you have a strong Proto Punk build already, rebuilding is probably not worth it.
  • Ben Bigger can equip it, but the set does not fix his underlying issues.

Notes from the Chained

This set is clearly designed for an Ice Anomaly playstyle. The 2-piece gives Ice DMG +10%. The 4-piece gives +48 Anomaly Proficiency when triggering Abloom and +16% Anomaly DMG and Disorder DMG when triggering Freeze.

The problem: no current Ice agent really wants the full 4-piece. Hoshimi Miyabi is the only Ice Anomaly candidate in the current roster, but she scales heavily with CRIT stats, which makes her existing best-in-slot builds hard to replace with an Anomaly-focused set. The icy-veins.com analysis notes that this set will not beat her current BiS.

The most likely explanation is that this set was designed for a future Ice Anomaly agent. Promeia is the name most frequently mentioned by the community, with Version 2.8 being the expected arrival window. HoYoverse has a history of releasing best-in-slot gear one patch before the character it is designed for, which would fit this pattern.

For now, Notes from the Chained is a wait-and-see set. Do not actively farm it, but save any pieces you pick up while chasing Bunny in Wonderland.

How many Polychromes can you earn in ZZZ 2.7?

Version 2.7 is a well-stocked patch for free-to-play currency. Based on the breakdown documented by sportsdunia.com, here is every Polychrome source available this patch:

Loading table...

The biggest sources are Shiyu Defense at 2,340 and Daily Activity at 2,520, so clearing both consistently is the priority. The event rewards (Hotpot, Old Friends New Commissions, and the rest) are time-limited, so complete those before they expire.

The Phase 2 check-in event, confirmed by HoYoverse via gamespace.com, also gives 10 Boopons just for logging in from April 15 onward.

How do the Twitch Drops work in 2.7?

The 2.7 Twitch Drops event ran from March 24 to April 14, 2026 (UTC+8). The rewards were tiered by watch time:

  • 15 minutes: 12,000 Dennies
  • 30 minutes: 2 Senior Investigator Logs
  • 45 minutes: 3 W-Engine Energy Modules
  • 60 minutes: 2 Bangboo System Widgets
  • 120 minutes: 50 Polychromes

To participate, you needed to link your Twitch account to your Zenless Zone Zero account, watch streams in the correct category, then manually claim rewards from your Twitch inventory. After claiming, rewards arrived in your in-game mail within 24 hours and stayed available for 30 days.

One requirement that caught some players off guard: you must have completed the in-game commission called "The Proxy and the Hare" before you can receive the mail. Without it, the rewards simply will not land.

The event has now ended, but the structure is worth knowing for future patches when HoYoverse runs similar campaigns.

What is coming in Version 2.8?

According to gamespace.com, Version 2.8 arrives approximately 3 weeks after Phase 2 of 2.7. Promeia is confirmed for the first half, with Starlight Billy in the second. If Promeia turns out to be an Ice Anomaly agent, that would explain the Notes from the Chained Drive Disc set arriving in 2.7.

If you are saving Polychromes for 2.8, the current patch gives you a strong runway to build toward that pity.
