Aion 2 shifts gears completely once you hit the level cap. The main campaign gets you to Level 45, and then the real grind begins: pushing Item Level high enough to unlock Expeditions, Transcendence, and Ascension Trials. The good news is that Item Level is not purely a dungeon-drop lottery. A handful of systems, each adding a few points at a time, stack up faster than most players expect when worked in the right order.
This guide covers every method that contributes to Item Level, the order to tackle them in, and the two big breakpoints that gate the most important endgame content.
Item Level is the sum of several different systems, not just the base level of your equipped gear. Understanding which systems contribute is the first step to pushing the number efficiently.
| Upgrade | How it adds Item Level |
|---|---|
| Equipped gear | Adds the item's base Item Level directly |
| Enhancement | +1 Item Level per Enhancement level |
| Daevanion Crystals | +1 Item Level per Crystal spent |
| Manastones | Roughly +1 to +4 per stone depending on the stat line |
| Arcana cards | Adds the card's own Item Level to your total |
| Higher-grade gear | Larger base Item Level than lower-grade equivalents |
One thing worth clarifying: Item Level and Combat Power are not the same number. Item Level determines whether you can enter a piece of content. Combat Power is a broader estimate of how effective your character is inside that content. Raising Item Level does not automatically raise Combat Power by the same amount, and vice versa.

Aion 2 Item Level Guide: How to Increase Item Level Fast
Before any of the endgame systems open up, you need to hit Level 45. The Main Story is the fastest path there. Do not spend heavily on gear upgrades while leveling since the campaign and Ascension progression hand you a core weapon, Guard, and Bracelet that remain useful when early endgame begins. Upgrading gear you are about to replace is one of the most common ways to waste Enhancement Stones.
Once the level cap is reached, the Item Level push starts in earnest.
Regional Quests are the first stop after the campaign ends. The higher-level quests reward Item Level 43 jewelry, which fills weaker accessory slots without touching your endgame materials. Beyond the gear itself, Regional Quests also drop Daevanion Crystals and Wisdom Stones, both of which contribute permanent progression.
Clearing as many Regional Quests as possible before you start spending Enhancement Stones or other resources on temporary pieces is the smarter path. You get free upgrades and stockpile materials at the same time.

After Regional Quests, work through the one-time exploration content on your own faction's map.
Sealed Dungeons drop Daevanion Crystals, Wisdom Stones, and Enhancement Stones. Strongholds provide the materials needed to progress the Belt. Neither resets, so treat them as permanent progression rather than repeatable farming routes.
The simplest approach is to open the map, clear Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds in the same pass as nearby Regional Quests, and collect everything before moving on.
You can reach the opposing faction's territory through a Spacetime Rift. The Global version changed the reward structure compared with earlier regional releases, so enemy-side Sealed Dungeons are now mainly useful for Enhancement Stones and Abyss Points rather than regular Daevanion Crystals. They are worth running when Enhancement Stones run low, but your own faction's one-time content should come first.
Every Daevanion Crystal spent adds exactly one Item Level. That makes it one of the most predictable progression systems in the game.
Crystals come from Regional Quests, Sealed Dungeons, the Shugo Festival (where Centuryroot Tokens can be exchanged for more), and the Nightmare shop. PvP players can also buy Daevanion Crystal: Azphel with Abyss Points, which progresses the separate Azphel PvP board and still contributes to Item Level. Even players focused entirely on PvE can benefit from the cheaper early Azphel purchases if they need to hit a breakpoint.
Do not sit on Crystals. Spend them as they arrive.
These two slots get ignored more than any other. Stronghold materials progress the Belt, while Monolith progression helps with the Amulet. Both can be taken through Enhancement and grade improvements without relying on dungeon drops.
Clearing Strongholds is not optional if you care about Item Level. The Belt upgrade alone can provide a meaningful jump when combined with other small gains across the set.
The Abyss contains collectible traces that feed into Monolith rewards. This was a top-priority method in earlier versions of the game, but the Global release reduced its relative value. It is still worth completing, just after Regional Quests, Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds, and the easier Daevanion upgrades.
Think of it as a gap-closer rather than a primary path.
Enhancement adds +1 Item Level per level, and spreading affordable upgrades across multiple pieces is more efficient than pushing one item to a very high level.
A practical progression looks like this:
Enhancement costs scale sharply at higher levels, so avoid burning stones on pieces you expect to replace soon. The story weapon, Guard, and Bracelet from campaign progression are safer targets for early Enhancement investment.
For a faster look at managing your skills and inventory alongside Enhancement, the Aion 2 hotbar and macros guide covers how to organize consumables and active abilities so nothing slows you down mid-run.
Do not leave usable gear with empty Manastone slots, especially when you are a few points below a dungeon entry requirement. Different stat lines contribute different amounts of Item Level, but even inexpensive stones push the number up. Save better stat rolls for gear you plan to keep, but never leave slots completely empty on anything currently equipped.
The first major endgame gate sits at 1,400 Item Level.
| Content | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Vakron Sky Island (Exploration) | 1,400 |
| Vakron Sky Island (Conquest) | 1,400 |
| Urugugu Canyon (Conquest) | 1,400 |
Vakron Sky Island is the priority once you cross this threshold. Its Unique armor and Guard are significant upgrades over early Level 45 gear.
Start by claiming the Exploration rewards three times to unlock the one-time guaranteed gear reward, then switch to Conquest farming for the better drops. If the Guard is proving difficult to obtain, save Gear Change Voucher: Vakron Sky Island tokens. Two vouchers combined with Kina through Substance Morph produce a guaranteed Vakron Guard, which is an Item Level 70 Unique piece.
Despite the name, Daily Dungeon runs on a weekly pool of 14 attempts. It is one of the most consistent sources of Enhancement Stones in the game, and your reward scales with your score. Clear it every week before spending stones elsewhere, especially if Enhancement resources are running low.
Nightmare opens at Level 45 and does not require 1,600 Item Level to enter. Its early boss stages have suggested Item Levels ranging from roughly 1,000 to 1,600, with harder bosses unlocking progressively. Completing Nightmare stages earns Phantasmal Fragments, which can be exchanged for progression items including Daevanion Crystals.
This makes Nightmare a useful secondary path for players stuck just below a threshold who have already exhausted their Regional Quest and Sealed Dungeon rewards.
At 1,600 Item Level, the first stage of Transcendence opens. This is the single most impactful gate in the early endgame because Transcendence is the primary source of Arcana.
Aion 2 currently has five Arcana slots:
Even filling those slots with Common-grade cards adds Item Level immediately. Arcana currently scales from Item Level 20 at Common to Item Level 80 at Unique, so the jump from empty slots to a full set is substantial.
Two Transcendence dungeons are currently available on Global:
| Dungeon | Arcana types available |
|---|---|
| Deus Research Base | Bell, Compass, Chalice |
| Shattered Arkanis | Parchment, Mirror, Chalice |
You need both dungeons to fill all five slots. Early on, filling every slot matters more than chasing perfect stats or set bonuses. An empty slot is a free Item Level increase you are leaving on the table.
Expedition and Transcendence reward cubes consume Odyle Energy, so the more you have, the more gear chances you get per week. Substance Morph lets you create additional energy each week: 16 per server and 4 per character, adding up to 20 extra through available recipes. Use that energy on the highest-value dungeon you can currently access.

Ascension Trial gives three entries per week and provides progression materials at every stage.
| Difficulty | Item Level requirement |
|---|---|
| Easy | 1,000 |
| Normal | 1,500 |
| Hard | 2,000 |
| Highest launch tier | 2,500 |
Players close to a higher difficulty threshold can hold their attempts until later in the weekly reset window, but the important thing is not letting all three expire unused.
For a fresh Level 45 character, the most efficient order is:
The biggest trap is treating Item Level as a gear-drop problem. Enhancement, Daevanion, Manastones, Arcana, Belt, and Amulet progression all count, and stacking those systems together moves the number far faster than waiting on a single lucky drop.
