Clash Runes are one of the easiest Item Level gains in Aion 2 that most players walk right past. Your character has two dedicated Rune slots sitting below the accessory slots in the Equipment window, and filling both adds 80 Item Level before you even account for the stat bonuses. The problem is these runes never drop from regular mobs or village merchants, so you need to know exactly where to look.
Each Clash Rune is a Special-grade accessory with a base Item Level of 40. Slot two of them and you pick up a combined 80 Item Level boost, which feeds directly into your Combat Power total. Beyond the Item Level, every rune at +0 provides the following stats:

The numbers look modest at base level, but they scale as you enhance the rune up to the +10 cap. Both equipped runes contribute their stats simultaneously, so filling both slots as early as possible is worth prioritizing.

The most reliable early source is regional quests. As you progress through the main story, a dedicated regional quest tab unlocks in your quest log. These quests reward Clash Rune Chests, and each chest contains the rune itself plus enhancement materials, so a single completion gives you both the item and the resources to improve it.
The quests split by faction: Elyos players find their Clash Rune quests in Verteron, while Asmodian players work through Altgard. Here is the full list with locations and recommended levels:

Several of these quests also reward titles alongside the chest, so you pick up extra stat bonuses from titles like Lifeguard, Team Player, Volunteer, and Heir of Sparks at no additional cost. If a quest is missing from your log, keep pushing the main story forward and check back.

Once the regional quests are done, several repeatable sources keep the supply flowing.
Reaching Item Level 1,000 unlocks Nightmare mode, a solo boss arena where you farm Phantasmal Fragments. Spend 500 Phantasmal Fragments per chest in the Nightmare Trade Shop to buy additional Clash Rune Chests. This becomes your main pipeline once you start pushing enhancements past +1 and need spare copies on hand.
You can also earn Phantasmal Fragments through the Shugo Festival daily check-in events, so logging in consistently supplements your arena farming.
The Seasonal Shop (available to both Elyos and Asmodian players) sells Clash Rune Chests for 4,000 Oath Coins each. This is worth checking regularly if you have Oath Coins accumulating from season progression.
Both the free and premium Battle Pass tracks award Clash Rune Bundles at various milestones. Event login reward calendars frequently include Clash Rune Chests at specific day thresholds, so participating in limited-time events pays off here. World bosses, elite chests, and faction rewards round out the remaining sources, though these are less predictable.

Open your Equipment window and locate the two Rune slots below your accessory rows. Place a Clash Rune into either slot and the stats activate immediately. Your Combat Power total will visibly increase from both the stat bonuses and the +40 Item Level each rune contributes. Fill both slots to get the full 80 Item Level benefit.

Clash Runes use their own dedicated enhancement system, separate from standard gear upgrades. In the Enhancement menu, select your rune, apply a Clash Rune Enhance Scroll, and add Kina plus Enhance Stones. The scrolls come from the same Clash Rune Chests you farm for spare runes, so opening extra chests supplies both.
