Aion 2 strips out the traditional face-to-face trade window entirely. There is no moment where you open a menu, drag items across, and hand gear to a friend. Every player transaction on Global servers runs through a single centralized Market, and getting into that Market requires hitting two separate requirements that a lot of players confuse for one. Here is exactly how the system works, what it costs, and what you can and cannot do with your Kina.
The Market becomes available at Level 45. That is the first gate, and it is non-negotiable. You can see the Market in the interface before you reach that level, which is part of why players get confused. Seeing a feature and being blocked from it feels like a bug. It is not.
The second requirement is an active Special Quai Membership, which costs $14.99 for 30 days and is tied to the server where you purchase it. Membership is what unlocks Market buying and the Kina-to-Quna Exchange. The two requirements are completely independent of each other.
| Requirement | What It Unlocks |
|---|---|
| Level 45 | Market access (the feature becomes available) |
| Special Quai Membership ($14.99/30 days) | Market buying and Kina-to-Quna Exchange |
| Both combined | Full participation in the player economy |
| Neither | Normal gameplay, gear, PvE, PvP content |
The mistake most players make is assuming Membership alone opens everything. Reach Level 45 first. Then worry about Membership.
No. Direct player-to-player trading is disabled on Global servers. There is no trade window, no item handoff between characters, and being in the same party or Legion does not create a workaround. NC disabled this as an explicit anti-bot measure, and the Market is the intended replacement.
This matters if you planned to pass drops to a friend while leveling together. That traditional MMO setup does not exist here. If an item is eligible for trading, it has to go through the Market listing system.

List items through the Market
The Market functions as an asynchronous auction-house system. You list a tradable item at a price, another player purchases it, and the transaction clears through the game rather than directly between characters. You receive Kina after applicable Market fees once the sale completes.
The process in order:
The key difference from a direct trade is that you cannot choose who buys your item. A Market listing is part of the centralized economy, not a private exchange. If your goal is to give something specific to a specific friend, the Market does not replicate that.
Kina is the standard in-game currency earned through questing, dungeons, and normal play. Quna is the premium currency purchased with real money, used for cosmetics and premium Daeva Pass tracks. The Kina-to-Quna Exchange is a publisher-run conversion system that lets these two currencies interact through the player economy.
This is separate from the regular premium shop. The Exchange is part of the player-driven economy and requires an active Membership to access. Having Quna in your account does not mean you can use the Exchange on a low-level character or without Membership.
Not all Kina is equal. Regular Kina is used in the player economy and on the Market. Kina (Bound) is tied to your character and cannot be used for Market transactions the same way. Pay attention to which type you are accumulating, especially early in the game.
| Currency | Source | Market Use |
|---|---|---|
| Kina | Questing, dungeons, Market sales | Yes, used for Market transactions |
| Kina (Bound) | Character-specific rewards | No, not usable for Market trading |
| Quna | Real-money purchase | Via the Kina-Quna Exchange (Membership required) |
No. Aion 2 is free-to-play. You can level your character, follow the main story, upgrade gear, and participate in PvE and PvP content without purchasing Membership. The game does not require a subscription to play.
Membership becomes relevant specifically when you want to participate in the player economy through the Market or convert currencies via the Kina-to-Quna Exchange. Free players can still earn and spend Kina through normal gameplay systems, but selling items to other players is off the table without it.

Membership costs $14.99 for 30 days
If the Market is your goal, the path is straightforward: reach Level 45 through the main quest and normal character progression. There is no shortcut to force the Market open before that threshold, and purchasing Membership before you hit 45 does not change anything about your access.
Spend the time before Level 45 building your character properly. The classes you choose and how you build them matter significantly for what you can farm and how efficiently you can generate Kina once the Market opens. Check the Aion 2 strategy guides for class-specific build advice, including detailed breakdowns for every role in the game.
For melee players pushing toward endgame, the Aion 2 Gladiator PvE build guide covers skill priorities and rotations that directly affect how fast you clear content and accumulate resources. If you are playing a ranged class, the Aion 2 Ranger build guide has the same depth for Stigma loadouts and macro setup.
What level does the Aion 2 Market unlock? The Market unlocks at Level 45. No earlier.
Does Membership unlock the Market before Level 45? No. Membership and the Level 45 requirement are completely separate. Both must be met.
Is Membership required to buy from the Market? Yes. Market buying and the Kina-to-Quna Exchange both require an active Special Quai Membership.
Can I send Kina directly to another player? No. There is no direct currency transfer between players in the Global version. Kina changes hands only through Market transactions.
Will direct player trading return to Aion 2? NC disabled it as an anti-bot measure and there is no announced date for restoring it. The Market is the intended trading system for Global servers.
Is it Kina or Kinah? NC's official Global spelling is Kina. "Kinah" with an H is the currency name from the original 2008 Aion and appears in a lot of community searches, but Kina is the correct term for Aion 2.
Should I buy Kina from a third-party seller? No. NC enforces against real-money trading with account action. The entire trading design, with direct trades disabled and the Market as the single chokepoint, exists specifically to route economy activity through legitimate in-game systems. Use the Market and the official Exchange.
