Great Inagua is more than a scenic Caribbean base. In Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, your hideout is a living economy that feeds directly into the Jackdaw's combat strength, your passive income, and the gear available to Edward Kenway. There are 14 upgrades across the manor and docks, and spending reales on the right ones early makes everything else in the game considerably easier.
How do you unlock the Great Inagua hideout?
The hideout becomes available during the This Old Cove quest in Sequence 4. Once you're in, head to the large main room inside the manor and look for the cluttered desk. Interacting with it opens the upgrade menu for the manor's main buildings.
For everything outside the manor itself, walk down to the Great Inagua docks and look for NPCs with merchant or store icons above their heads. Each one manages a specific building or service. Speak to them directly to unlock and upgrade those parts of the cove.

What should you upgrade first in the hideout?
The Harbourmaster is the single most important upgrade chain to pursue first. Harbourmaster I costs 500 reales and unlocks Tier II Jackdaw upgrades. Harbourmaster II (2,500 reales) opens Tier III, and Harbourmaster III (5,000 reales) unlocks the full range of Jackdaw upgrades. The Jackdaw is your primary combat tool for most of the game, so capping the Harbourmaster early means your ship stays competitive as enemy vessels scale up.
After that, anything that increases protection money income deserves attention. The Facade (4,000 reales) unlocks the protection money box and adds a ship berth to Kenway's fleet. Tower and Garden (8,000 reales, requires Facade) and Guesthouse (20,000 reales, requires Tower and Garden) both increase the maximum protection money you can accumulate, plus each adds another fleet berth.

Which upgrades give the best passive income?
Three buildings contribute directly to passive reales generation: the Treasure Dealer, the Fisherman's Wharf, and the protection money chain (Facade through Guesthouse). The Treasure Dealer and Fisherman's Wharf both list "increases hideout profit over time" as their primary benefit, making them strong long-term investments once the prerequisite chains are satisfied.
The Fisherman's Wharf also doubles the skin yield from sea animals, which matters if you're crafting gear or hunting for trade goods. Combined with the Harbourmaster chain, it's one of the more efficient late-game investments in the hideout.

How does the Brothel affect boarding?
The Brothel (6,000 reales, requires Tavern) makes dancers free to hire and gives your boarding crew a flat damage increase. For players who lean into aggressive ship-to-ship combat and frequent boarding actions, this is a meaningful combat upgrade wrapped inside a hideout building. Pair it with Harbourmaster upgrades and a well-equipped Jackdaw for noticeably smoother fights against heavily armed vessels.
