Crimson Desert packs a massive amount of side content into its open world, and faction quests sit at the heart of it. These aren't throwaway errands, they tie you into the political fabric of Pywel, reward you with crafting materials, elixirs, rare gear, and Abyss Artifacts, and flesh out the factions competing for power across the region. Whether you're grinding commissions in Hernand or hunting bounties for House Celeste, knowing what's available (and what it pays) makes all the difference.

What Are Faction Quests in Crimson Desert?

Faction quests are Crimson Desert's primary side quest system. Rather than a single quest giver, they're organized under named factions, each with their own agenda, NPCs, and quest pools. You'll encounter everything from resource-gathering commissions and political intrigue missions to full bounty hunts against named targets.

According to the Game8 walkthrough team, faction quests span at least 16 distinct factions at launch, ranging from small community groups like the Scattered Embers to powerful noble houses such as House Celeste and House Roberts.

Scattered Embers

The Scattered Embers quests are mostly introductory in nature and tied to the Greymane storyline. Most carry no material reward, though Brightening the Spirits does hand over a Grey Dye x1.

Grounds of the Sunrise

This faction offers some of the better early rewards. Embers of Return stands out with Abyss Artifacts x2, plus consumables including Beer x5, Wine x2, and Lean Meat x6, along with a Medium Bag.

Greymane Commissions

All seven Greymane Commissions quests (Carl's, Ronnie's, Ross's, Tranan's, Brice's, Ronald's, and Pierce's Requests) reward a single Medium Bag x1 each. These are straightforward tasks worth clearing for the bag inventory.

House Celeste

House Celeste runs the bounty board, and it's one of the most rewarding faction pools in the game. Targets range from low-value marks to high-stakes hunts.

House Roberts

House Roberts quests offer some of the most varied and valuable rewards in the faction system. Estate in Dismay alone drops a Gold Vein Map x1, Mining Knuckledrill x1, Azurite x3, Bloodstones x3, and an Engraved Gold Earring x1. Continuing Concern provides Freya's Elixir x1 alongside multiple Apollonia's and Melliara's Lesser Elixirs.

Hernand Commissions

The Hernand Commissions faction is the largest single quest pool in the game, with over a dozen tasks from individual NPCs. Most reward a Medium Bag x1 plus a crafting material. Notable entries include Turnali's Request (Logging Axe x1, Bekker Shield x1, Timber x10) and The Weight of Knowledge (Investigative Log item).

Hernand's Politics

This sub-faction covers the political tensions inside Hernand. Most quests here carry no material reward, but Spire of Insight gives Iron Ore x10 and Collapsed Stone Tower yields Stone x10, making them quick resource pickups.

Goldleaf Merchant Guild

Extinguishing the Last Flames is the standout quest here, rewarding the Hernandian Banquet Cloak x1 and Kinetic Counterweight x1 — two items worth going out of your way for.

Pororin Forest Guardians

The Trembling Woods quest unlocks access to the Pororin Forest Village, making it one of the most impactful faction quests in the game beyond its item rewards (Palmar Pill x1, Astrid's Lesser Elixir x1). The follow-up Pororin Research Institute carries no reward but likely advances the faction storyline.

Witches
