To recruit Honorary Greymanes in Crimson Desert, hold a camp festival, speak with trusted visitors, and hire eligible guests through the Recruit interaction. Those recruits can then undertake dispatch missions, giving your camp more people to assign while your regular comrades are busy.

Festivals also let you build Trust faster through visitor interactions, so recruitment starts with the relationships you develop across Pywel. This guide covers Crimson Desert: Enhanced with the Charting the Unknown DLC and the festival system introduced in Update 2.04.00. Some comrade features may be unavailable to honorary recruits, so check their assignment options before putting them to work.

How do you hold a festival at camp?

Camp festivals are part of Charting the Unknown. Install the DLC, progress your Greymane Camp questline at Howling Hill, and follow the festival mission through your Journal.

The camp dispatch mission is called Festival Preparation. If you are still establishing your settlement or learning its assignment systems, the Greymane Camp management guide covers the recruitment and dispatch foundations.

Use this order when preparing your first festival:

  • Build relationships with NPCs around Pywel before starting the event.
  • Check your Journal for camp progression and the festival mission.
  • Find Festival Preparation in the camp dispatch list and start it.
  • Let the preparation mission finish, then attend the festival gathering.
  • Speak with visitors and check their available interactions.

The festival runs for a limited time. Treat the celebration as your chance to work on relationships and hiring, rather than leaving every conversation until later.

Which NPCs visit camp festivals?

Festival visitors are NPCs with whom you have already built enough Trust. Named townspeople and shopkeepers can attend, making your existing relationships in Pywel relevant to camp recruitment.

Guests arrive in groups during the celebration. Make another pass through the gathering as it continues instead of checking only the first people you see.

A visitor's arrival and their recruitment eligibility are separate things. Some NPCs attend the festival without offering to join the Greymanes, but interacting with them still gives you the festival's faster Trust-building opportunity.

How do festival interactions help you build Trust?

Interacting with NPCs during a camp festival raises Trust more quickly than ordinary interactions outside the event. Speak with attendees even when they do not immediately offer recruitment, particularly if you want to develop those relationships for future festivals.

Update 2.04.00 also expands the NPC interaction interface. You can use Chat to share your Knowledge and earn Trust, while Gift provides another relationship interaction. New preference books help you learn what residents like.

Which interactions should you check?

Use the NPC's interaction options and cooldown display to plan your conversations:

  • Chat: Share Knowledge with the NPC to earn Trust.
  • Gift: Use residents' preference books to inform your gift choices.
  • Cooldown display: After an interaction raises Trust, check the displayed wait before the same interaction can raise it again.

The cooldown display matters because repeating an interaction immediately does not necessarily award more Trust. Check it, then speak with another festival visitor while you wait.

Which festival visitors can you hire as Honorary Greymanes?

Certain festival guests can join as Honorary Greymanes. Speak with each visitor and look for Recruit alongside their other interactions. When that option appears, select it to hire them.

Trust is part of preparing eligible NPCs for recruitment, but attendance alone does not guarantee a hiring opportunity. Check the actual interaction offered by each guest rather than assuming everyone at the celebration can join.

A practical hiring routine is:

  • Talk to each arriving group of visitors.
  • Check every guest for the Recruit option.
  • Hire eligible visitors you want to add to your roster.
  • Continue building Trust with other attendees.
  • Check the dispatch roster after a successful hire.

Can Honorary Greymanes undertake dispatch missions?

Yes. Honorary Greymanes can undertake dispatch missions like your regular comrades. Their immediate value is expanding your available roster when other Greymanes are already collecting supplies or handling construction work.

You can start dispatch missions by speaking with Ross at Greymane Camp. You can also inspect a location on the world map and open its Missions tab to view assignments there.

Each dispatch requires camp provisions, enough comrades, and time to finish. Check those requirements before assigning your new recruit, particularly on specialist jobs.

Keep developing your regular roster alongside festival recruitment. The comrade leveling guide covers that progression, while camp upgrades also unlock access to regular comrades' skills.

Common mistakes

Why is a particular NPC missing?

Festival attendance requires an existing level of Trust. If the NPC you hoped to meet does not attend, continue ordinary conversations with them in Pywel before trying another festival.

Why does a visitor have no Recruit option?

A festival guest is not automatically an eligible Honorary Greymane. Keep working on Trust, use the event's faster relationship interactions, and check the hiring options offered at a future celebration.

Why can you not start a dispatch after recruiting someone?

Adding an Honorary Greymane does not remove a dispatch mission's requirements. Check your provisions, minimum staffing, and required skills. Crafting, Construction, Engineering, and Exploration dispatches require comrades with specific skills.

Pro tips

Keep skilled regular comrades available

Use an honorary recruit on an assignment they can take when doing so frees a specialist for another job. Luke has Construction, while Otto has Engineering, so keeping those regular comrades available can help when you need their particular skills.

Check dispatch bonuses before adding more people

For regular comrades, relevant skills on a single comrade can stack, but matching skills across different comrades do not stack. Two Skilled Loggers still provide a 40% Logging bonus, rather than doubling it.

Extra staffing is a separate dispatch bonus: each comrade assigned above the minimum adds 20% to rewards. Check the mission details as you assign people so you can see the benefit of the roster you are committing.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need Charting the Unknown to recruit Honorary Greymanes?

Yes. Camp festivals and Honorary Greymanes are part of the Charting the Unknown DLC content introduced with Update 2.04.00.

Do festival visitors need 100 Trust?

The 100 Trust requirement belongs to the additional romance Trust level used for marriage proposals. Festival attendance depends on NPC Trust, while hiring requires an eligible visitor to offer Recruit.

Can you hold another festival to recruit more guests?

Yes. Festivals can be repeated. Continue building relationships between events, then speak with attendees and check for new hiring opportunities at the next celebration.
