Bio-Boosters are scattered randomly across the maps in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, and some of them hide a hacking minigame that rewards you with class modifiers. The mechanic shows up early in a run, and if you've never seen it before, the interface can be a little disorienting. Here's exactly what you need to do to nail it every time.
What is a Bio-Booster hack?
Bio-Boosters are upgrade terminals you encounter during a run. Most of them offer standard upgrades, but certain ones give you the option to hack them. A successful hack rewards you with a class modifier, which you can choose from a small selection after completing the minigame. Class modifiers are currently the only reward available from these hacking terminals.

Only attempt to hack a Bio-Booster when the area around you is clear of enemies. The minigame runs on a timer, and taking damage mid-hack can force you to restart or get you killed.
How to complete the hacking minigame
The hacking interface presents two wires: one blue and one red. Each wire has nodes at both ends, and your job is to connect them in sequence. The process is the same for both wires, so once you understand the pattern, it becomes fast and repeatable.
Step 1: Connect the blue wire nodes
Watch the interface until a node on the blue wire becomes highlighted. That highlighted node is one of the two connection points you need. Click the mouse when the correct node lights up. You need to do this for both end nodes of the blue wire before moving on.
Step 2: Hit the secondary node on the blue wire
Once both end nodes are connected, a secondary node appears somewhere along the wire itself. Click the mouse when your cursor lands on that highlighted point to complete the blue wire sequence.
Step 3: Repeat the process for the red wire
The red wire follows the exact same two-stage process. First, click when each of the two end nodes is highlighted. Then, click the secondary node that appears along the wire.
The minigame has a time limit. If you run out of time before completing both wires, you'll have to restart the hack. Enemies nearby make this significantly harder, so clear the room first.
What happens after a successful hack?
Once both wires are fully connected, the terminal unlocks and presents you with a selection of class modifiers. Pick the one that fits your current build. Based on available information from Destructoid's coverage, these terminals only offer class modifiers right now, so there's no hidden loot to chase beyond that.

Tips for hacking efficiently
- Clear enemies first. The timer is forgiving enough if you're focused, but a single bug swarm mid-hack will ruin your attempt.
- Watch for the highlight, not the cursor. The game tells you exactly when to click by lighting up the correct node. Don't try to anticipate it.
- Don't rush the first click. Missing a node resets that step, which eats into your time window.
- Pick modifiers that complement your class. The selection is random, but always lean toward upgrades that synapse with your current weapon loadout.
For more strategies across every class and upgrade system, the Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core strategy guides collection covers the full breadth of mechanics you'll want to understand before diving deeper into the roguelite loop. Rogue Core sits firmly in the action games space, and the Bio-Booster hack is one of the smaller systems that separates players who squeeze every advantage from those who walk past free class upgrades without a second thought.
