The "angle for an angler" duty in Disney Dreamlight Valley's Elements of Nature Star Path is one of those tasks that stops players cold. The wording alone is confusing, and once you figure out what it's asking, actually pulling it off is a whole separate problem. Here's exactly what you need to do and, more importantly, how to skip the worst of the grind.
What does "angle for an angler" actually mean?
The task is asking you to catch an Anglerfish. Not a quest item, not a character interaction — a literal fish called the Anglerfish. This rare fish lives exclusively in the Forgotten Lands biome, and it only appears in golden ripple spots on the water's surface. The duty requires you to catch 3 Anglerfish total to complete it and earn your 10 Tokens for the Star Path event.
info
The Forgotten Lands biome only has two small ponds to fish from, which makes this one of the more location-restricted fishing tasks in the game.

Golden ripple spots in Forgotten Lands
Where to find Anglerfish in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Head straight to the Forgotten Lands biome. This is the only place Anglerfish spawn. Once you're there, scan both ponds for golden bubble spots on the water. These are the only cast points that can produce an Anglerfish — tossing your line into a blue ripple spot will not work.
The problem is that golden ripple spots have a low spawn rate, and with only two ponds available, you could be standing around waiting for a long time. Testing this the standard way, it can realistically take several hours to land all 3 fish without any help.
warning
Casting into blue ripple spots in the Forgotten Lands will not yield Anglerfish. Only golden ripple spots count, so wait for the right bubble before casting.
How to speed up the Anglerfish grind
The fastest solution is crafting either Miracle Fishing Bait or Even More Miraculous Fishing Bait before heading out. Both items apply to your Royal Fishing Rod and convert every white ripple spot you cast into a gold one, guaranteeing an Anglerfish catch as long as you're fishing in the Forgotten Lands.
Note that these potions work on white ripple spots specifically, not blue ones. Target the white ripple spots and the bait will do the rest.

Miracle Fishing Bait recipe
Fishing bait recipes compared
For catching just 3 Anglerfish, Miracle Fishing Bait is the more cost-effective pick. You only need 3 successful casts, and the bait covers 10 white ripple spots — more than enough headroom. Save the pricier Even More Miraculous version for longer fishing sessions or future Star Path duties that demand higher fish counts.
info
Craft Miracle Fishing Bait before entering the Forgotten Lands so you can start converting ripple spots immediately. The bait applies on use, not on entry to the biome.
Is the 10-Token reward worth the effort?
Honestly, 10 Tokens is a thin reward for one of the trickier Star Path duties. But if you're pushing to unlock all the Elements of Nature Star Path rewards, you need every duty completed. The bait crafting cost is the real barrier here, so budget your Vitalys Crystals and Red Algae accordingly before committing.
Once you've got your 3 Anglerfish and claimed the Tokens, move on to other duties to keep your Star Path progress moving. There are several other tasks worth tackling alongside this one, so check out the full guides library at GAMES.GG for more Disney Dreamlight Valley help.
