The Picture Pursuit event in Disney Dreamlight Valley is one of those limited-time events that looks simple on the surface but hides a fair amount of legwork underneath. The core challenge is a scavenger hunt across multiple realms and locations, tracking down hidden Motifs to photograph before the event clock runs out. You need to finish at least 5 of the 7 available quests to complete the main event duty, and the reward waiting at the end is worth the effort.
What are Picture Pursuit quests?
Every quest in the Picture Pursuit event follows the same format: talk to a specific character, then track down four hidden Motifs scattered across a designated location and photograph each one. The Motifs are small decorative images tied to each character's theme, and they don't announce themselves with obvious markers. You have to actually explore each area to find them.
The event runs for seven days, with one new quest unlocking at the start of each day. That pacing means you can't rush through all seven in a single session on day one. Plan to log in daily to stay on top of new unlocks.
All 7 Picture Pursuit quests and their locations
Here's every quest in the event, who to talk to, where to go, and which Motif you're hunting for.
Each quest requires photographing four Motifs in its assigned location. The Motifs are hidden rather than placed in obvious spots, so expect to comb through each area carefully.

How do you photograph Motifs in Picture Pursuit?
Motif photography uses the Phone tool from your Royal Tool wheel. Equip the Phone, approach a Motif, and take the shot. The quest tracker updates automatically once a Motif registers as photographed. If you're standing in the right area but nothing seems to trigger, try moving closer or adjusting your angle before taking the picture.
The Merlin quest sends you to the Dream Castle, where four Walrus Motifs are hidden across the building's interior and exterior spaces. The Mickey quest keeps things closer to home, with Pete Motifs spread between Mickey and Goofy's houses. Moana's quest moves into the Moana Realm, where Kakamora Motifs are tucked around the island environment.
Buzz Lightyear's quest takes you into the Toy Story Realm to find Hamm Motifs. If you've already been working through the Toy Story content, the Toy Camera Quest guide covers that realm's layout in detail and can help you get your bearings before hunting Hamm.
Alice's quest sends you into the Alice in Wonderland Realm for Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum Motifs. The Wonderland areas have a lot of visual clutter, which makes spotting Motifs harder than in more open spaces. If you've tackled the Escape Maze puzzle in that realm before, you already know how easy it is to miss things in the corners.
Peter Pan's quest is set at Skull Rock, where Lost Boy Motifs are hidden across the cave and surrounding area. Cinderella's quest rounds things out in the Vitalys Mine, where four Gus Motifs are waiting among the tunnels.
What do you get for completing Picture Pursuit quests?
Finishing the complete Picture Pursuit quests event duty (minimum 5 quests) rewards the Pure Cinema Photo Frame. This is an exclusive item with no other unlock path, meaning it disappears from availability once the event ends. You apply it through the Phone tool when taking in-game photos.
Beyond the Photo Frame, each individual quest rewards its associated Motif item, which you can use as a decoration in your valley. Finishing all 7 quests nets you the complete Motif set: Walrus, Pete, Kakamora, Hamm, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, Lost Boy, and Gus.
Tips for working through the event efficiently
- Log in each day as soon as possible. Quests unlock at the daily reset, and waiting costs you time on each mission.
- Use the Phone tool before heading into each location so you're not fumbling through menus mid-search.
- The Realm-based quests (Moana, Buzz Lightyear, Alice) require travel time, so tackle those on days when you have more time to spare.
- If you only need 5 quests for the duty, prioritize the ones in locations you already know well to save search time.
