Pocahontas brought more than just her story to Disney Dreamlight Valley. Her raccoon buddy Meeko is hiding in there too, but he won't just wander into your valley on his own. You need to work through her entire friendship progression to find him, and the game doesn't advertise this reward upfront. If you want the raccoon, here's how to get him.
What is Meeko and why should you unlock him?
Meeko is a foraging Companion who tags along and grabs bonus resources while you're out collecting things. Equip him and he'll occasionally snag extra Lemons, Coffee Beans, Basil, Raspberries, Garlic, Coconuts, Ginger, and Oregano whenever you pick them up. He also works during seasonal events, so if there are limited-time collectibles like Wild Spring Eggs during the Eggstravaganza, Meeko can pull doubles on those too.
He shows up in the Notable Companions section of your Wardrobe, the same category where other film characters live. You can have him follow your character around or assign him to Pocahontas instead.
How to unlock Meeko in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Meeko is the hidden prize at the end of A Raccoon's Return, which is Pocahontas's level 10 friendship quest. He doesn't show up in her friendship rewards list because he's a secret unlock, similar to how Pluto is buried in another character's questline.
You need to finish every friendship quest leading up to level 10 before you can start the final one. Here's the full path:
Step 1: Unlock Pocahontas
Obviously, Pocahontas needs to be living in your valley first. Meeko is locked behind her friendship track, so you can't access him at all until she's recruited.
Step 2: Complete The Three Sisters Garden (level 2 quest)
This is her first friendship quest. You'll plant a traditional Three Sisters Garden with her and then have a picnic with Wall-E. It's a simple quest that kicks off her storyline around the Celestial Celebration.
Step 3: Complete Working Together (level 4 quest)
At level 4, you'll help Pocahontas deal with Stitch and Cogsworth bickering over Celestial Celebration prep. Most of this quest is mediating their argument and helping Pocahontas set things up.
Step 4: Complete A Little Algae Problem (level 7 quest)
Pocahontas needs Glowing Algae for the celebration. This quest has you recruiting other villagers to help and gathering the algae yourself.
Step 5: Complete A Raccoon's Return (level 10 quest)
This is the quest that gives you Meeko. The Celestial Celebration is finally happening, but you'll notice some paw prints that Pocahontas recognizes immediately. You'll follow those prints around the valley tracking down the raccoon.
The actual unlock happens when you go fishing at the dock in the Dazzle Beach biome with Pocahontas. After that fishing scene, the quest ends and Meeko gets added to your Companions.
Meeko's foraging ability explained
Meeko is a foraging Companion, which is one of the more useful types in the game. Whenever you pick up a forageable item, there's a chance Meeko grabs an extra copy for you.

If you already have Pocahontas at a high friendship level, pushing to level 10 is worth it. The questline is solid, and getting a foraging companion as a hidden reward on top of the story is a good deal.
