Rain has a good reason to keep Save the Vermillion even after unlocking Ragnarok+. In FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE, the crafted greatsword reduces physical and magic damage taken by 20%. Ragnarok+ instead improves stagger power and non-elemental damage by 25%, while raising the damage cap to 99,999. The better choice depends on what Rain needs to accomplish.

That trade-off drives this endgame weapon tier list. Across all eight characters, the priorities are practical combat effects, preparation saved, and upgrade requirements. A weapon that keeps Rain alive or extends Nichol's buffs can deserve your attention before another attack-stat increase.

Weapon ranking criteria

How are these weapons ranked?

The rankings weigh each weapon against its wielder's job. Lasswell wants stagger pressure and critical hits. Fina needs healing strength and MP support. Nichol benefits whenever his equipment makes support actions more productive.

Use these criteria when comparing weapons in Equipment & Abilities:

  • Role value: Save the Vermillion's damage reduction directly supports Rain's Sentinel role. A higher attack stat serves a different purpose.
  • Activation requirements: Ragnarok+ improves non-elemental attacks, Wizard's Rod+ rewards elemental weaknesses, and Thor's Hammer+ needs physical critical hits.
  • Opening versus sustained value: Shisui supplies starting buffs, while Arcturus+ generates Luck and Limit Burst gauge on the wielder's turns.
  • Acquisition effort: Aileen's weapons cost one Adamantite each. Upgraded Legendary Arms require their associated trials and a level 70 character for the ultimate upgrade.

The tiers express upgrade priority within those roles. Rain has two S-tier options because protecting the party and adding offensive pressure are both valuable jobs.

Endgame weapon tier list

What do S, A, and B tiers mean?

S-tier weapons provide excellent long-term value for their intended role. A-tier choices offer strong conditional damage, healing, or preparation benefits. B-tier weapons remain useful, but their opening-focused effects give you a clearer reason to move toward a trial upgrade.

Ragnarok+ adds offensive pressure

Best weapons for damage

Which weapons reward stagger and critical hits?

Ragnarok+ is Rain's offensive choice, with 202 Physical Attack and bonuses to stagger power and non-elemental damage. It suits a Rain who can already withstand incoming attacks and contribute more through counterattacks and damage. Save Infinity Drive for a staggered target, where the skill deals 50% additional damage.

Sasuke's Blade+ gives Lasswell 220 Physical Attack, alongside its 20% critical-rate and physical-evasion bonuses. That makes it a strong long-term replacement for Shisui when you want better offensive stats and critical-hit potential. Crest of Criticality adds another useful condition: it raises critical hit rate by 50% when attacking a staggered enemy.

Thor's Hammer+ needs more deliberate support. Its 159 Physical Attack comes with a 30% stagger and damage benefit triggered by a physical critical hit. Genji Gloves, which increase critical hit rate by 50%, directly support that requirement. This pairing gives the hammer a clearer purpose than equipping it for its attack stat alone.

Arcturus+ combines 251 Physical Attack with recurring Luck and Limit Burst generation. Caelum Renatum makes a faster opening possible through eight starting Luck, but Arcturus+ keeps contributing resources on Jake's turns. Favor the crafted gun when immediate Luck is your priority; favor Arcturus+ for its stronger attack stat, repeated generation, and raised damage cap.

What's the best weapon for elemental magic?

Wizard's Rod+ is Sakura's strongest option for exploiting elemental weaknesses. It has 227 Magic Attack and increases damage by 30% when an attack matches the target's weakness. Its 20% magic-evasion chance supplies a defensive benefit without changing the build's offensive purpose.

Roselia remains useful because it handles Sakura's preparation automatically. Its 204 Magic Attack is lower, but starting with Concentrate and Sage's Eye gets those effects active immediately. Concentrate doubles Sakura's magic damage and Speed for three turns, while Sage's Eye improves stagger power against elemental weaknesses by 50%.

For longer encounters, Wizard's Rod+ offers the stronger weapon stats and weakness bonus, while Sakura can apply her preparation skills herself once learned. Roselia is more convenient when you value the opening buffs enough to keep it equipped.

Reward Sakura's elemental attacks

Fire Birch+ takes a different approach for Archwitch Fina. Its 217 Magic Attack supports spell damage, but the defining effect rewards targets already carrying debuffs and status ailments. Apply effects such as Deshell before committing to damage. Against a target you can reliably weaken, the weapon supports both the setup and the payoff by extending inflicted effects for one turn.

Match those weapons with abilities that support their conditions. Sakura's Terra pairing supplies Magic Attack bonuses and Magic Boost, while Archwitch Fina can build around debuff-focused abilities. Use the best Visions tier list and character pairings to choose the skills that complete your weapon setup.

Should Rain keep Save the Vermillion?

Keep Save the Vermillion when Rain's main challenge is surviving the attacks he draws. Its 20% reduction applies to physical and magic damage, making it useful across both damage types. Ragnarok+ adds offense, but Save the Vermillion directly improves the job that keeps your other characters protected.

Rain's wider equipment can reinforce that choice. Tatenashi Armor prevents Instant Death, and Knight's Medallion fills his Limit Burst gauge by 10% when he receives damage. Those effects support a defensive Rain without requiring his weapon to supply more attack power.

Which endgame bow should Fina use?

Artemis Bow+ and Elysium improve healing through different combinations of stats and effects. Artemis Bow+ has more Sanctity and recovers MP when Fina takes damage. Elysium provides the larger healing-potency percentage.

For an all-purpose endgame setup, Artemis Bow+ earns the higher priority through its Sanctity, healing effect, and MP recovery. Elysium is still a worthwhile crafted weapon, especially before you complete the bow's ultimate trial.

Compare both bows alongside the rest of Fina's equipment. Blessed Pendant increases healing magic potency by 20%, while Philosopher's Stone restores 5% of maximum MP on the wielder's turn. Fina's full healing setup matters more than selecting the largest percentage on one item.

Which weapons extend buffs or shorten preparation?

Last Resort+ is the standout sustained-support weapon. Nichol gains 10% Limit Burst gauge when performing an action without dealing damage, and buffs he applies last one turn longer. Enchanted Ring also extends applied buffs by one turn, making it another relevant part of his support equipment.

Make Nichol's support actions count

Codex Providentiae competes through its opening rather than repeated gauge generation. Acting first and beginning with Tactic: Fluid Warfare active for three turns lets Nichol start applying Formations immediately. Fluid Warfare grants him an additional action after using a Formation, so the automatic starting effect saves preparation.

The same distinction applies to several crafted weapons:

  • Mechabo Hammer SUPER: Grants Overclock immediately. Overclock increases Mechabo damage and stagger power by 150%, giving Lid a substantial opening benefit.
  • Shisui: Supplies Hone Senses and Placidity for five turns. It is useful while those starting effects matter more to you than Sasuke's Blade+'s stats and critical-rate bonus.
  • Roselia: Applies Sakura's two preparation effects automatically, making it convenient for magic-focused openings.
  • Abyss: Extends Archwitch Fina's debuffs and status ailments by two turns, compared with Fire Birch+'s one-turn extension. Choose it when maintaining those effects is the priority.

Upgrade cost versus performance

How do you unlock Aileen and the + weapons?

Complete Forger of Wills in Dilmagia during Chapter five to recruit Aileen. Her weapon crafting becomes available on the airship deck from Chapter six. Each character's weapon requires one Adamantite, so crafting the full set takes eight pieces.

The Chamber of Arms becomes accessible from Chapter five on an island north of Mobliz Shipyard in Dirnado. Find an Ancient weapon, complete its associated trial to awaken it, then clear the ultimate trial once the relevant character reaches level 70 to obtain the + version.

Which upgrades deserve your resources first?

Spend Adamantite on the party you actually use. Save the Vermillion addresses Rain's incoming damage, Elysium improves Fina's healing, and Codex Providentiae accelerates Nichol's opening. These are useful investments before you start chasing the highest attack values.

The replacement value differs by weapon. Save the Vermillion retains its defensive purpose after Ragnarok+ arrives. Shisui has a clearer replacement path because Lasswell can apply Hone Senses and Placidity through his own skills, while Sasuke's Blade+ supplies stronger stats, critical rate, evasion, and the higher damage cap.

For Rain's trial route, the Ancient Greatsword is a first-win reward for Fledgling Battle 3 at the Grandshelt Colosseum. Follow the Ancient Greatsword unlock guide when you are ready to begin the Ragnarok progression.

When to replace your current weapon

What should trigger an upgrade?

Open Equipment & Abilities and identify the problem your current weapon leaves unsolved. For Rain, that might be incoming damage. For Sakura, it might be getting more damage out of an elemental weakness. For Nichol, it might be the preparation needed before his Formations get going.

Use these replacement checks:

  • You need more sustained offense: Move toward Ragnarok+, Sasuke's Blade+, Wizard's Rod+, or Arcturus+, depending on your active attacker.
  • You regularly reach the current damage cap: Prioritize the relevant + weapon and its 99,999 cap.
  • Preparation is slowing your opening: Consider Codex Providentiae, Mechabo Hammer SUPER, Roselia, or Shisui for their automatic starting effects.
  • Debuff maintenance matters most: Keep Abyss available for its two-turn extension instead of automatically replacing it with Fire Birch+.
  • Your healer needs a better balance of potency and MP support: Compare Artemis Bow+'s 170 Sanctity and damage-based MP recovery against Elysium's 20% healing bonus.

For Rain, keep Save the Vermillion available after obtaining Ragnarok+. Choose the defensive weapon when surviving enemy pressure is the priority, and the offensive weapon when you want more stagger and non-elemental damage.

For Lasswell and Sakura, the decision often shifts once their preparation skills are available. Shisui and Roselia save opening setup, while their + alternatives provide stronger long-term weapon stats and effects. Keep both options useful by matching them to the encounter.

Start with the upgrade that fixes your active party's biggest weakness, then pursue its trial alternative. If Adamantite is your next step, use the Adamantite locations and crafted weapons guide to work toward Save the Vermillion, Elysium, or the crafted weapon your party needs most.
