What is the Trail of Footsteps web event?
Trail of Footsteps is a browser-based web event tied to the Version 6.5 Luna VI update in Genshin Impact. Running from April 8 to April 21, 2026, it celebrates the arrival of two new Mondstadt areas: Dornman Port and the Temple of Space. The event sits entirely outside the game client, meaning you can knock out most of the tasks during a quick break without even loading in. The total haul is 80 Primogems, 9 Etherwing Moths, and 20,000 Mora, which is a decent chunk of free currency for about 15 minutes of effort spread across a few days.

How do you access the event page?
Head to the official HoYoverse event URL at act.hoyoverse.com and log in with either your UID or your HoYoLAB account. Linking your UID is the step most players forget, and skipping it means your in-game rewards get forfeited entirely. Do that first before completing any missions.

How to play Trail of Footsteps: exploration missions and Compasses
The event runs on a two-layer structure. First, you complete Exploration Missions to earn Primogems, Etherwing Moths, and a currency called Compasses. Then you spend those Compasses on the event map to unlock four location cards, each requiring 2 Compasses.

How do Compasses work on the event map?
Each of the four locations on the event map costs 2 Compasses to unlock. Unlocking a location reveals a description and a downloadable wallpaper image. You can collect up to 8 Compasses from the missions listed above (7 confirmed from missions plus 1 from the share task), which is exactly enough to open all four locations.

Complete the share mission early. It is one of the fastest Compass sources and also nets you 20,000 Mora, making it the single best value task in the event.

Trail of Footsteps is one of three active events during the Version 6.5 Luna VI window. The Surveying & Mapping Studies event ran April 10 to April 20, and the longer-running To Temper Thyself and Journey Far event continues through May 18, 2026, offering a 5-star Stella Fortuna for completing training goals.
