Positioning

Generally, position yourself parallel to your ADC so that when they move up to farm or trade, you can move with them and act as a unit. Trading

Level Advantage
Reaching level 2 before the enemy gives you a big early advantage because you gain access to an extra ability before they do. In the Bottom Lane, this happens after killing the first wave plus the first three melee minions of the second wave. If you are about to hit level 2 first, start moving forward right before the last melee minion dies so you are already in position to pressure the enemy as soon as you level up. When the enemy is the one reaching level 2 first, back off early and play closer to your tower until you can catch up.
Establishing Vision

During the laning phase, place vision based on what you are trying to do. When you are pushing towards the enemy tower, your wards should cover areas like the river and Jungle entrances to prevent ganks. If you are being pressured under tower, use your wards around your own Jungle entrances to spot dives before they happen.
Before objectives spawn, start placing vision around the area before your team needs to fight. This doesn't mean only warding the pit , you also need vision around the Jungle entrances and paths the enemy has to take to reach it, like the pixel brush next to Drake, the banana brush, and the tri-brush. Good vision gives your team a clearer picture of the enemy's movements, helping you avoid traps and make better decisions around the objective.

Teamfighting
Identify the Biggest Threat
Usually this is a late-game carry like the enemy ADC, but not always. Someone with strong engage, reliable crowd control, or the ability to buff their allies can become the biggest threat depending on the situation. Once you know what the enemy team relies on, you can focus on when to engage and when to peel.
Understand Your Role
When playing Engage Supports like Leona or Nautilus, look for opportunities to start fights and lock down key targets. For Enchanters like Lulu or Janna, focus on keeping your carries alive through shields and healing. If you are playing a Poke Support like Lux or Vel'Koz, try to weaken the enemy team before they can fully engage.
Common Beginner Mistakes
- Warding only to check for enemies , Use wards proactively when an area is safe, in anticipation of a future gank or play.
- Face checking bushes , Trust your instincts and avoid areas where you think the enemy Jungler or another enemy is nearby.
- Using Control Wards incorrectly , Change where you place Control Wards depending on the situation, such as placing them around objectives before they spawn to deny enemy vision.
- Not switching to Oracle Lens , Swap to Oracle Lens once you complete the first part of your Support Quest. Your upgraded item gives you Stealth Wards, so you no longer need your original warding trinket and can use Oracle Lens to clear enemy vision and prepare plays around the map.
- Roaming too much , Make sure every roam has a clear purpose and leads to something valuable for your team.
- Managing abilities poorly , Think before pressing your buttons. Use them when they can have the biggest impact and avoid wasting important cooldowns unnecessarily.
- Buying the same items every game , Adapt your build based on your team's needs and the enemy team composition.
