The Aquarium Vault quest in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 sounds simple until the game tells you not to stand under it and you realize the penalty is instant elimination. The vault is a glass tank built into the ceiling of a hidden landmark called The Quackaway, and shattering it releases a flood of water, debris, and loot. Get your positioning wrong and you are back to the lobby before you collect a single item.

Where is the Aquarium Vault in Fortnite?

The vault sits inside The Quackaway, a landmark on a small raised island in the southwest corner of the Chapter 7 Season 3 map, just south of Heatwave Harbor. The island sits noticeably higher than the surrounding terrain, which makes it easy to spot from the Battle Bus, but it is not a named point of interest so the map gives you no label to aim for.

The building itself is decorated with large statues of Fishstick and Wonkee, plus a Fall Guy figure inside the main hall. A zipline runs from the top of the rock down to the entrance. Once you are inside and in the main hall, look up. The glass panel filled with rippling water above you is the Aquarium Vault, and the glass wall is the only way to access the loot sealed inside it.

The Quackaway does not appear as a named POI on the minimap. Drop directly onto the raised island south of Heatwave Harbor and look for the character statues outside the building entrance.

How to shatter the Aquarium Vault safely

The quest description spells out the core rule: shatter the vault but do NOT stand directly beneath it. Here is exactly how to do that without losing your run.

Step 1: Land at The Quackaway

Drop from the Battle Bus onto the raised island and enter the building. Head straight to the main hall where the vault is fixed to the ceiling above you.

Step 2: Get your positioning right before you fire

This is the step players skip and regret. Move to the side of the room so you are completely clear of the area directly below the glass tank. When the vault shatters, water and debris crash straight down. Anyone in that drop zone is eliminated instantly, and the Boss Sprite will not save you.

Step 3: Shoot the glass

Aim at the glass panel and fire. Any weapon in the current loot pool works, including a common pistol picked up nearby. Keep shooting until the glass cracks and the vault shatters. There is no minimum damage threshold to worry about; just keep firing.

Step 4: Wait for the flood to settle

After the glass breaks, wait for the water to finish pouring out before walking underneath. Once the flood drains, the loot is scattered across the floor and safe to collect.

What loot does the Aquarium Vault drop?

Beyond the quest XP, the vault spills a strong pile of early-game loot that makes The Quackaway one of the better unmarked landing spots on the map.

The Gold Bar haul alone is enough to buy from nearby Vending Machines immediately after landing. Picking up weapons here also counts toward the separate "Collect Weapons outside of Named Locations" quest, since The Quackaway is an unmarked landmark rather than a designated named zone.

How do you confirm the quest is complete?

When the glass shatters while you are standing clear of the drop zone, a notification appears on the left side of the screen reading "Shatter the aquarium vault, but do NOT stand directly beneath it! Quest Completed" along with the 10,000 XP reward. The Construction story then advances to its next stage, which asks you to extract Sprites for The Visitor's research.

If the quest does not register, there are two likely causes: you were standing under the vault and got eliminated before it counted, or the glass has not fully broken yet. Reposition to the side and keep firing until the tank cracks open completely.

Why The Quackaway is worth the detour

Most players ignore unmarked landmarks at the start of a match, but The Quackaway punches well above its weight. The vault loot alone rivals what you would find in a named POI chest run, and the 1,000-plus Gold Bars you walk away with give you serious purchasing power from the first minute of the match. The zipline at the top of the rock also gives you a fast exit route if the storm or another squad pushes you.

The one real downside is that the island is isolated, which means rotating out takes a moment longer than dropping into a named zone with road access. Plan your storm path before you commit to the landing.
