Mouse: P.I. For Hire Review
8/10
Mouse: P.I. For Hire is the kind of debut that makes you immediately want to see what Fumi Games does next. It commits fully to its vision, and that confidence pays off. The art style alone is worth the price of entry, but the gunplay underneath it is genuinely good enough to stand on its own. If you go in expecting a detective game in the vein of L.A. Noire, you will be disappointed. Go in expecting a fast, stylish, Doom-style shooter with one of the most distinctive visual identities in recent memory, and you will have a great time. The baseball mini-game and safe-cracking mechanics are small touches, but they show a team that cared about giving players more than just a shooting gallery. The story has real ambition, spotlights political themes without taking itself too seriously, even if the story struggles a bit towards the end. But for a world about mice, cheese, and a crime case that's bigger than it seems, this game's genuinely fun from the moment you pick it up.
