Baicang is an S-rank Incantation Synthesis character in Neverness to Everness and currently the only dedicated Incantation main DPS in the game's launch roster. His entire kit revolves around generating Power Words on enemies, consuming his own HP to fuel those words, and then detonating everything through his Ultimate for massive burst windows. He's a high-skill-ceiling pick: rewarding when you nail the combos, noticeably weaker when you fumble them. According to Game8's tier assessment, he sits at A-tier at launch, held back primarily by the awkwardness of his moveset compared to other S-rank options.

How does Baicang's kit work?
Understanding Baicang means understanding his three Power Word types: Bless, Silence, and Objurgate. Each one is generated through specific actions, and all three detonate when he activates his Ultimate. Here's the breakdown by skill category.
Basic attack chain and Power Word generation
Baicang's standard chain is Walk the Talk, a 5-hit Incantation sequence. Every 3 hits of Walk the Talk generates a Power Word Bless on the target, which lasts 15 seconds with a maximum of 3 stacks. Each time any Power Word is summoned, Baicang consumes 3% of his current HP. When his HP drops below 50%, that cost is halved to 1.5%.
Two extended basic attacks branch off from this chain:
- Formless Words: After 2 Walk the Talk hits, hold the basic attack button. Fires 3 Incantation commands horizontally for AoE Incantation damage.
- Unrestrained Words: After 3 Walk the Talk hits, hold the basic attack button. Fires 3 Incantation commands vertically for AoE Incantation damage.
There's also Critical Riposte: Truth Exposed, triggered by using Walk the Talk after a Critical Dodge. This knee strike deals 1 instance of AoE Incantation damage and generates 1 Bless word directly.

Baicang Power Word activation
Keep an eye on Baicang's HP during extended fights. The 3% HP cost per Power Word adds up fast, especially if you're stacking Bless aggressively. Pair him with a healer to sustain the damage output without burning through his health bar.
Skill: generating Silence and Objurgate
Baicang has two redirect skills that each generate a different Power Word:
- Silenced Thought: Press Redirect Skill after a dodge. Deals single-target Incantation damage and places Power Word Silence on the target. Silence detonates for serious single-target damage when his Ultimate fires.
- Such Crime: Press Redirect Skill after triggering Formless Words or Unrestrained Words. Expands the damage area with AoE Incantation damage and places Power Word Objurgate on the ground near the target. Objurgate detonates for AoE damage during his Ultimate.
The base skill, Heart of Heaven and Earth, pulls words from ley lines and converges them on the target location for a standard attack.
Ultimate: Judgment of Autumn
This is where all three Power Words pay off. Judgment of Autumn releases a domain and enters the Power Word state, dealing Incantation damage over time to everything inside. When the Ultimate fires:
- Silence triggers serious single-target damage.
- Objurgate triggers AoE damage.
- Bless triggers single-target damage and restores 5% of Baicang's Max HP.
The Ultimate also executes targets below 10% HP (5% for bosses), and includes a one-time fatal hit immunity during the domain. If that immunity triggers, the domain ends automatically 3 seconds later and the recorded damage is taken slowly over the following 10 seconds.
Passive skills
- Moderate Mischief: Enhances the Scorch reaction. When a Power Word is generated on a Scorch-affected target, it inflicts an additional Scorch instance with the same effect.
- Moderate Working: Increases Baicang's ATK by 20%. With 4 team members, he launches coordinate attacks with allies. Specific synergies exist with Skia (switching to Baicang while Skia is in stealth triggers an immediate attack and generates 1 Power Word Silence, 30s cooldown), Fadia (when Fadia's HP drops below 20%, Baicang attacks once, heals Fadia, and generates 1 Power Word Silence, 30s cooldown), and Lacrimosa (switching to Baicang while Lacrimosa is in bat form triggers 1 super jump for Baicang).
What are the best Arcs for Baicang?
Camellia Society is the clear best-in-slot by a significant margin, according to both Game8 and GamingOnPhone. The CRIT DMG stacking synergizes directly with Baicang's HP-loss mechanic since each Power Word generation triggers the Arc's condition. The unlocked Silent Garden also fires additional Incantation hits (either 5 hits at 24% ATK or 6 hits at 18% ATK with the final hit dealing double damage), consuming 5% current HP on a 25-second cooldown.
The catch: you need a healer in the team to offset the Arc's HP drain, or Baicang's survivability becomes a serious problem in longer fights.
A Time Will Come works as a reliable free-to-play alternative, particularly at higher development levels, because the 10% ATK bonus is straightforward and doesn't require managing HP thresholds.
Running Camellia Society without a healer is a real risk in extended encounters. The Arc's passive HP drain stacks on top of Baicang's Power Word generation costs. Without Awakening A4 (Or Perhaps Blessings) or a dedicated support, you can find yourself dangerously low before the Ultimate fires.
What are the best Consoles for Baicang?
According to Game8, Crimson: Twin Butterflies is Baicang's best Console set because the Legendary 4-piece stacks passively as long as the team deals Incantation damage, and those stacks remain active even when Baicang is off-field. At 6 stacks, that's a 36% ATK increase on top of the 10% Incantation DMG bonus from the 2-piece.
Shadow Creed is the second-best option per GamingOnPhone, offering a clean 25% ATK buff for 20 seconds after any Skill cast, which lines up well with Baicang's active rotation.
Stat priority: CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG > Incantation DMG% > ATK% (as noted in both GamingOnPhone and Game8 sources).

Awakening skill priority
Game8's analysis recommends picking up Awakenings in this order:
- A6: White Aspect (first pick) - Grants a free 30% CRIT Rate increase during Baicang's Ultimate. This is the single biggest damage spike available in his Awakening tree.
- A1: Yo, Captain! (second) - Adds bonus damage to Silence and reduces Skill cooldown when Objurgate is triggered. Solid quality-of-life upgrade that keeps his rotation tighter.
- A5: In Honor of Moonlight (third) - Extends Ultimate duration from 12 seconds to 16 seconds, which directly reduces downtime between his main damage windows.
- A2: Soul Caller - Provides up to 24% bonus ATK when Power Words are generated. Better once A3 is available.
- A3: Curses Spoken Into Being - Increases the Power Word generation limit. Acts as a prerequisite that makes A2 more valuable.
- A4: Or Perhaps Blessings - Particularly good if you're running Camellia Society, since it heals Baicang for the exact HP cost (and slightly more) during his Ultimate, effectively neutralizing the Arc's downside.
A6 first is non-negotiable. A 30% CRIT Rate boost during your main damage window is too large to pass up for anything else in the tree. Get it, then worry about the rest.
Skill upgrade priority
Based on Game8's recommendations:
- Judgment of Autumn (Ultimate): Max first. It drives burst damage, passive DoT, and amplifies all three Power Word detonations.
- Generous Guidance (Skill): Max alongside the Ultimate. This is Baicang's primary damage source and the most versatile part of his kit.
- Walk the Talk (Basic Attack): Level second. Used constantly in combos but contributes less per level than the above.
- Break Time Over (Support Skill): Level last. Adds one additional Incantation DoT instance, but Baicang is a proactive burst DPS, not a passive one.
What are the best team compositions for Baicang?
Baicang / Lacrimosa / Fadia / Adler
This is a Scorch reaction-focused team that can also trigger Discord reactions. According to GamingOnPhone:
- Baicang is the main DPS.
- Lacrimosa acts as sub-DPS, triggering Nova reaction with her Cosmos DoT damage.
- Fadia buffs the team and redirects enemy damage.
- Adler provides a team-wide shield and contributes DoT damage.
Baicang / Sakiri / Lacrimosa / Adler
This is Baicang's strongest multi-target option per GamingOnPhone. Both Baicang and Sakiri boost Scorch damage, and Sakiri also controls crowds and buffs DoT damage. With Lacrimosa and Adler both contributing DoT, every member of this team is dealing damage simultaneously.
Baicang's Moderate Working passive has specific synergy with Lacrimosa: switching to Baicang while Lacrimosa is in bat form triggers a super jump. Use this to reposition aggressively and set up Power Words on grouped enemies before your Ultimate window.
Is Baicang worth pulling in Neverness to Everness?
Baicang is currently the only Incantation DPS in NTE at launch. That's a unique position, but it also means his dedicated support infrastructure doesn't exist yet. As GamingOnPhone notes, he lacks a character who fully unlocks his potential, which keeps him from being a must-pull despite being a genuinely strong unit.
If you want to invest in Incantation damage long-term and enjoy a more technical, combo-driven playstyle, he's a solid pick. If you want something that performs at a high level with less execution overhead, other S-rank options may serve you better right now. Game8 rates him at A-tier, which reflects that gap between his ceiling and his ease of use.
