NTE: Neverness to Everness (Free to ...

Neverness to Everness launched to massive fanfare, pulling in over 35 million pre-registrations before its worldwide release. The open-world gacha has plenty to do solo, but the real fun starts once you get friends into the same session. The catch: multiplayer is locked behind a gate, and if you skip past the right steps, you will spend a while wondering why the co-op button does nothing.

When does multiplayer unlock in Neverness to Everness?

Multiplayer and co-op are only available after finishing the in-game tutorial. The tutorial runs roughly 25 to 30 minutes, so it is not a massive time investment, but you cannot skip it. Once the tutorial is done, the feature unlocks automatically with no extra steps required.

Before you start sending invites, grab your player ID from your account overview. That ID is what other players need to search for you specifically, so keep it handy. The other thing to sort out early is your server region. NTE restricts co-op to players on the same region, so if your friend is on a different server, one of you will need to switch. Switching regions is possible, but expect some lag and longer loading times as a trade-off.

How to invite friends in Neverness to Everness

Once the tutorial is cleared and you have confirmed matching regions, the invite process is straightforward. Here are the exact steps:

  1. Open your in-game phone.
  2. Navigate to the second page of apps.
  3. Select the Multiplayer icon.
  4. Enter the UID of the player you want to invite.
  5. Click the player's name to send the invite.

Parties support up to four players total, so you can bring in three friends for a full group.

What can you actually do in NTE multiplayer?

This is where things get interesting. NTE multiplayer is not just a token co-op mode bolted onto a solo game. There is a decent range of activities to run through with your party, though one major limitation is worth knowing upfront.

Story missions are single-player only. The main narrative cannot be played co-operatively, so do not expect to run the campaign with friends alongside you.

Everything else is fair game. Here is a breakdown of what multiplayer covers:

Combat and exploration

Fighting anomalies in a group is one of the more rewarding multiplayer activities since it offers actual in-game rewards for your time. Free roaming Hethereau City with friends also feels noticeably different from solo play, especially with vehicle travel available for the whole party.

Mini-games and racing

The mini-game selection includes Mahjong and Tetrominoes, which are solid options when you want a break from combat. Street racing supports up to four players competing directly against each other, making it one of the more competitive multiplayer modes in the game.

Home ownership and decoration

NTE lets players own and decorate property, similar in concept to GTA Online's apartment system. You can furnish your space with furniture and art, then invite friends over to show it off. Companion characters can also visit as guests, adding another social layer to the feature.

Neverness to Everness has enough multiplayer content to keep a regular group busy, even if the story stays locked to solo play. The mix of combat, racing, mini-games, and social home visits covers a lot of ground for a game that launched this recently.
