Season 14 of Diablo IV dropped on June 30, and players pushing through the Death Awakening questline are hitting a wall at Across the Threshold, a seasonal mission that requires you to hunt down and kill a Realmwalker. These massive Pandemonium creatures don't just wander around waiting to be found, so knowing exactly where to trigger one saves a lot of wasted map time.
Two ways to find a Realmwalker, one that actually works
There are technically two paths to spawning a Realmwalker for this quest. The first is completing a Surging Rupture event with Mastery, which gives you a chance to trigger one. The key word there is chance. You can grind Ruptures and walk away with nothing, which is a frustrating way to spend your time in a seasonal quest chain.
The reliable option is the Realmwalker world event, which spawns southeast of Zarbinzet. This event runs on a periodic timer throughout the day, so you'll want to pull up your map and look for a Whisper icon in that area. When you see it, that's your signal the event is about to go live.
What happens during the Realmwalker event
Once the event kicks off, the objective is to keep three Ruptures open simultaneously for a set duration. Each Rupture you successfully hold shows a check mark on the minimap when it's done. Solo players can manage all three, but the process moves faster with other players around since you can split up and cover each Rupture at the same time.
Finish all three and the Realmwalker emerges in the center of the arena. Here's the thing: you don't need to be on a high difficulty setting to complete this quest. Normal mode is perfectly valid, and it keeps the fight manageable if your build isn't fully geared yet.
During the boss fight, three pillars will appear around the arena. Destroy them before they fully activate. If you ignore them, they transform into Realmbreakers, which stack additional pressure on top of an already demanding fight. Prioritizing those pillars is the difference between a clean kill and a messy one.
Into the Deathtoll Chamber
Beating the Realmwalker isn't the end. A portal to the Deathtoll Chamber opens immediately after the kill, and the quest's final segment begins. The Chamber functions similarly to a standard Rupture, but your objective shifts: kill enemies to expand the ritual circle until it's complete. Once that's done, find Dannica and speak to her to officially finish Across the Threshold.
The whole sequence, from event trigger to Dannica conversation, takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes if the Realmwalker event is already active when you arrive. If you're working through the full Death Awakening questline, the complete Season 14 questline walkthrough covers every mission from Tyrael's letter through to unlocking Torment 1, so you won't lose momentum after this one wraps up.
