Diablo 4: Age of Hatred Collection coming to Nintendo Switch 2 | KitGuru

Three years after its original PC and console launch, Diablo IV is reportedly headed to Switch 2 this September, and Blizzard isn't showing up empty-handed. A leak points to a September 15 release date, with the game arriving as a bundled Age of Hatred Collection that packages both expansions, Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred, into a single package.

The same leaker who first surfaced the Switch 2 Diablo 4 rumor earlier this month is behind this updated report, now adding a specific date and confirming the expansion situation that was previously unknown. Both details are new information compared to that earlier tip, which had no date attached and left the question of expansion inclusion completely open.

The timing around BlizzCon is hard to ignore

September 15 lands just two days after BlizzCon 2026, which runs September 12-13. That's a tight window, and it raises an obvious question: will Blizzard use BlizzCon to officially announce the Switch 2 port, then release it almost immediately after? That kind of rapid reveal-to-release move is uncommon but not unheard of, especially for a port of a game that's already been out for over three years.

There's also Gamescom to consider, which takes place the week before BlizzCon. Blizzard has history here. Diablo 3's Switch port was unveiled at Gamescom, so a similar stage could be in play for Diablo 4. Either way, an announcement feels imminent.

tip
Diablo 3 launched on Nintendo Switch in November 2018 and became a strong seller for Blizzard on the platform, proving the franchise translates well to handheld play.

Why the wait stretched this long

Diablo 4 launched in June 2023. Switch 2 arrived in June 2025. The gap between those two dates and a rumored September 2026 release is notable. The most logical explanation is that Blizzard prioritized finishing Lord of Hatred, the second expansion, which released in April this year. Packaging both expansions together for a Switch 2 debut makes more commercial sense than launching with just the base game or only one expansion.

The Age of Hatred Collection framing also gives the Switch 2 version a clean identity. Rather than a port that feels like it's playing catch-up, it arrives as the most complete version of the Hatred arc in one box, covering everything from the base campaign through the Mephisto storyline that both expansions built toward. If you want a full breakdown of what Lord of Hatred actually adds, the Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred expansion guide covers the new classes, War Plans system, and campaign in detail.

Blizzard's broader situation adds context

Blizzard's parent company has been through significant restructuring recently, with large-scale layoffs affecting multiple studios across the Xbox division. Here's the thing: Blizzard has reportedly been identified as the top-performing studio in that group, with Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 driving that status. That position likely insulates the team to some degree, and a Switch 2 launch for one of its biggest active games fits the profile of a studio still actively pushing its flagship title.

Blizzard has also maintained a roughly annual expansion cadence for Diablo 4 since launch, so BlizzCon would be the natural moment to tease what comes after the Hatred arc, regardless of what happens with the Switch 2 announcement.

For players jumping in fresh on Switch 2, the Diablo 4 Season 14 guide is worth bookmarking now. The seasonal content has shifted significantly since launch, and knowing what's active when the port drops will matter for anyone planning to engage with the live service side of the game from day one.
