What the Coins actually get you
Coins in Paint and SEEK! have one main purpose: buying Crates. Crates contain randomly rolled Knives, which are the cosmetic you display when playing as the Seeker. Rarity tiers go from common all the way up to Secret, so the more Crates you open, the better your odds of pulling something worth showing off.
The game doesn't have a deep progression system outside of this, which keeps things simple. You either blend in as a Hider or hunt as a Seeker with your knife equipped. The cosmetic stakes are low, but landing a Secret knife from a free Crate still hits differently.
